They're horrible, imo. Empoleon is awesome, though. I normally go with the fire types...but that was honestly the first time I picked the water Pokemon on my first playthrough, excluding Piplup on Pearl because I got Diamond and Pearl on the same day.

Empoleon is the best out of all gen IV starts, imo. And I'm uncluding middle evos and all on that comparison. And there's always Ponyta.
