it really helps if a opponents level is higher
besides, i'm not competing in one either
i just want the best for my pokemon :D

I never EV'd my Pokemon, it seems like too much trouble and I'm not competing in a metagame or anything. :P I think I'll replace Nidoran with something else as I prefer Sandshrew. :D

you could have sandshrew as a backup

i would ev in:
Nidoran: Attack and Sp. Atk
Sandshrew: Attack and Defense
Pidgey: Attack and Speed
Magikarp: Attack and Sp. Atk
Butterfree: Sp. Atk and Sp. Defense

or you could change sandshrew or nidoran, in which case:
Pikachu: SP. Atk and Speed

i would choose nidoran male over female

it learns better moves, and earlier
pidgey evo's are good flying types
caterpie is good for koga when it evolves to butterfree
gyrados = good anyday
sandshrew = good choice for a ground type, although if you have a nidoking/nidoqueen you have already covered that type.
pickachu = good electric type. easy to train and quick
