  • Yeah, don't let Portrait discourage you haha. He's a great writer.

Well, Dubliners is up there on the favorites list, along with The Great Gatsby and 1984. But my favorite at the moment is On the Road by Jack Kerouac. I'm also really into fantasy and "young adult" books because, well... I just am. My top author for both of those genres is Tamora Pierce.

    What about you?
    Why thank you haha.

I actually had the same problem with A Portrait of the Artist as you, I was never able to finish it... I really loved Joyce's Dubliners, though.
Just listened to Slint - Spiderland. I dig it. There's another post-rock project one of the members is in called Tortoise. Have you listened to them? I'd recommend hearing the album "TNT" first if you haven't.
Don't think I heard good news in a while. I hate float on though but that just might be since I heard two or three top 40 songs sample it.
Ugly Casanova is okay I guess. We Were Dead was okay at the start but got really boring after a while and I don't remember Good News for People Who Love Bad News being that good. Barely liked TM&A though.
Yeah. What are your thoughts on mainstream emo? (Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco!, etc.)

I really despise that stuff, especially the scene kid image thrown in with it. The industry that supports these bands singe highhandedly turned emo into the new goth, with its edginess and all.

    What are your thoughts?
I've flipped through some songs by I Hate Myself, Texas is the Reason, and Slint at one point. I'll have to check out their albums some time. Sunny Day Real Estate is phenomenal. Diary and The Rising Tide are sooo good. Rain Song is such a beautiful song off that album. I'm also a big fan of Hot Water Music and Look Mexico.

Just curious, but do you have alot of friends that listen to full albums? I really don't know anyone out of all my acquaintances that are big music geeks, at least IRL. I feel sorta left out.
Haha, I've been catching up on a ton of 90's emo, postrock and math rock lately. Wish I would've known about them a long time ago. My personal favorite would be American Football. For the past several months, I've had their self titled album on rotation in the car at least 30 times.

Have you listened to The Dismemberment Plan?
I tend to like a bit of alternative rock, experimental and a bit of EDM. My WAYLT posts tend to show where my interests lie.
Yeah, in fact my Tumblr page has me sometimes reblogging some cool tunes for my followers to listen to and you'll notice most of it is stuff that I find "well-polished and not annoying" so yeah don't expect a lot of silly well-charting pop songs there.
The similar taste between us is getting very evident, and in fact I'm someone who loves to prefer to listen to "cool" music with quality over annoying chart-toppers.
i'm curious cos i like the beatles but never followed their lives separately - why is john lennon a horrible person?
