Hehehe, glad you enjoyed it! I was kinda disappointed (but not surprised) that they killed off so many of the main characters, yeah. I'm glad that Atra at least didn't get completely sidelined, though! At least she got a kind of happy ending? xD
AGE is a weird one, hahaha. It's been so long since I watched it that I've forgotten most of it and I haven't had time to rewatch it, which is something I've intended to do since it got a dub and I was curious to see how well it was done. It's pretty unique amongst the series for its approach to storytelling though, it's like the entire Universal Century in a single anime only significantly less grim and a little more...rushed, maybe? Or "condensed" might be a better word, because the pacing isn't too bad. Something that might interest you if you didn't already know, though - the head writer for AGE is actually the founder of Level-5 games, and I think originally it was only going to be a game before they decided to make it into an anime. I was always kinda disappointed the AGE games they made for PSP never got localised, because the gameplay looked pretty fun. I don't care for the VS games and I've not played any of the Super Robot Wars/SD Gundam games (mostly because the price of the Asian English versions is astronomical) but Gundam ARPGs are fantastic. There is something very satisfying about piloting giant robots and destroying waves of enemy giant robots! I also like screaming "TRANS AM!" at the screen if I get the opportunity to pilot anything from 00...you'll understand when you get there. xD
Yeaaaah...most betrayals don't go over too well, haha. Although with Gundam it's often morally questionable just how justified that betrayal really is, so it's not quite so overt. But uuuurrrrgh, McGillis is so problematic. He's definitely one of the more likeable (even after the unpleasantness with Gaelio...or maybe that's just me liking antagonists more, haha) and developed Char clones, but his relationship with Almiria is all kinds of disturbing, even if he's a perfect gentleman and it's not his choice. I just...why, damnit. This is a recurring issue with villains in the Gundam franchise and I just don't see WHY they keep doing this. xD
Build Fighters and Try aren't so connected that you couldn't pick it up without rewatching that series first, unless you reaaalllly wanted to...which I wouldn't blame you for! Divers is basically Fighters if it was set in an MMO (without being an isekai, thank god) so yeah, that sounds about right. It's not quite as reference-heavy as Fighters either (or at least not as blatant about it - a few character avatars and mobile suits are obviously series references, but you don't have main characters singing Anime Ja Nai in the back of a car driven by freakin Ramba Ral xDDD) so you could comfortably pick it up whenever without missing too much!
You definitely have a lot to look forward to if you plan on watching more! You haven't touched the Universal Century works yet, and there's a lot of that. There's also the SEED series which are ridiculously popular in Japan for some reason, Wing which is very hard to take seriously if you're like me and recognise the VAs from elsewhere, G which is very, VERY 90s, Turn A, which is...bizarre, and 00, which is a slightly more serious Code Geass. Amongst others. I'm kinda envious you get to experience all this for the first time ;-;
You're welcome, I hope you enjoy the other series! Let me know how you get on with them if you're of a mind to~
