This is the Elite Trainer Box I was talking about in your thread, it basically comes with all the good stuff you need to get started. You could buy one of those and a theme deck and start switching the stock cards from the deck for things you pull in the 8 boosters from the trainer box.
I've only recently restarted the tcg myself, but from what I can see Steam Siege is a great set to start with, it has a good set of trainers, some easy to set up pokemon (Yanmega Break, Yveltal Break and M Steelix Ex come to mind) and the supportive pokemon work very well too.
