Basically for the friend code thing, you go to your pal pad and put in the 12-digit number I have in my sig (you'll have to give your code to me too so I can do the same), then you get on wi-fi in the basement of a Pokemon center. When we're both on we'll be able to see each other on the screen. You'll select trade, I'll join you and the rest is like in the other games.
