...Since you got me started: the difference is, the Vietnamese government (as corrupt and censor-happy as it was) wasn't trying to preserve an all-powerful ruling dynasty that was harmful to the people and its surrounding neighbors. Unless you count the Khmer Rouge, but they were trying to ethnic cleanse the Viets in Cambodia, so it's all good. One more thing. Yes, there have been, and will continue to have collateral damage in the Middle East. But there has been no collateral damage done by the Chinese military in the Sino-Vietnamese conflict. Know why? Because collateral damage is "unintended damage"; the Chinese soldiers were under direct order to destroy civilian homes, farms, and lives.
