  • They typically occur either when water main breaks occur that don't get fixed in a timely manner, or naturally when it rains for long periods of time. It really varies. Did you hear about the sinkhole that happened nearly two years ago outside of Tampa that engulfed someone? That made international news.

I usually check traffic before I leave home, since I don't have a data plan on my smartphone. Either that, or wait for the report on the radio.
Down here we have sinkholes, flooding (when it rains in one spot for 1-2 hours nonstop), and water main breaks! :D those are fun when having to deal with detours and thus slowing traffic down because people didn't watch the news/look at the traffic report on their smartphone.
You really lucked out in that situation right there. That reminds me: about a month ago, I was riding with a friend to the mall, and she could have gotten hit. A car was veering into a straight lane (our lane) from the left-hand turn lane at an intersection. My friend got over, and luckily nobody was coming to prevent the accident. The car that wasn't paying attention was a black Dodge Charger with dents all along the right side from bumper to bumper.
React? That was the series of vids where they show people reacting to random things, right? Not sure, I think I only saw one video with the title React and I just didn't get what it was about.

Oh, um, I've been drawing again... This time I've been experimenting with inking pens/markers. I actually just finished a picture I'm really proud of (in terms of how it looks in general...it's nothing super-high quality, but enough to where I feel a lot better about using ink from now on). Care to give me some input: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15154472/ Personally, I'm thinking it'd have looked really phenomenal if I used colored markers instead of colored pencils for the finished product, but the latter's all I have on hand atm.
I guess you've just been lucky with drivers around you. I only have to lay on my horn when it's an absolute must, and sometimes it really is.

The closest encounter I had was headed northbound at one road, and there was a car turning left onto the cross road from the southbound side. A car was on the cross road wanting to go straight westbound. As soon as the car made the turn, the car going straight started to proceed when I was going, and I had to slam on my brakes then and come to a complete stop to prevent an accident. I of course laid on the horn for a few good seconds there.
Have you ever had to lay on your horn for other peoples's stupidity though? There's this one intersection on Highway 301 here where 301 has no stop signs but this side road does, and people always insist on pulling out onto 301 literally 25-50 feet in front of the car they're pulling out in front of. It's annoying, because most drivers have to slam on their brakes to let the person in front. As I've told others: if you have to tap your brakes while going past an intersection, then that person probably should not have done what they did."
Drivers are bad everywhere. I mean, I will say that I'm not excluding myself from that sentence considering I've been in an accident, but people are just always so inconsiderate when on the road.
My parents went out that morning, and I called them to make sure they were okay and that nobody was slipping on the roadways. There was small snow accumulation on the vehicles, but not the ground from what I can remember.

Oh, this cold snap topped the news here as well.
North Carolina doesn't get snow? I kid.

The closest I've gotten to seeing snow was waking up to use the bathroom one morning and hearing sleet hitting the windows. This was in Florida, too. The high temperature that day didn't get above 40.
I'd imagine that y'all have those higher chances of one...and while you guys actually see snow, it's a mere dream here.
LoL does have a lot going for it, compared to the other miscellaneous crap I used to watch. The most use I ever got out of Youtube before was just listening to music remixed from games I really liked, and even then they weren't that fantastic.
Well, the west has been warmer than usual as of late. It's warm down here in Florida, so maybe that'll change?
Derp, yeah, I get that. Um, regarding Youtube, aside from it generally using too much bandwidth on my regular wifi (it's fine on my phone because I still have an unlimited plan for that), I've found that there's really nothing worth watching on it most of the time for the main reason that a lot of it's all advertising in some way, shape, or form.
You should totally use that for an image if you have a Christmas-themed writing competition :P
I wasn't asking for it, I was just curious since I thought it was actually cute :P
