yes, whenever it repoints anything it always searches for free space from the free space address given in the settings.ini and aligns the offsets. Were you referring to an older version of OWM for the sand footprints bug? And yes, in the new version, the user isn't allowed to to give a frame number less than 1.
once you download python 3 run these two commands in the cmd:
python -m pip install PyQt5
python -m pip install pillow
It's an animation engine using a custom script. But I'm really not sure if it can work so don't use it.

I started recoding OWM and I made some changes that might help in your issue. Could you download it from my last comment in the thread, load you rom and check if the problem remains?

You must change the textbox image. The gap is in the textbox's 'area' instead of mugshot's.
Change it to, PATH="C:/whatever your path is"
That's what it's complaining about. There is no environment variable named DEVKITARM. If you are on windows, try typing:
echo %devkitarm%
on linux do
echo $devkitarm
to see if you've actually set it. Additionally, python's OS.path.join function requires unix like path names. You could edit the build script to use direct path names to the required material if this is giving you troubles.
