  • I won't deny it's interesting... but... I don't know. I'm also watching Chihaya Furu (and I did rewatch Hakuouki) and compared to those anime I've found it to be rather boring? It's not the right word, but it's not really exciting either. |D; But still, I'm definitally going to finish it, because I want to know how it ends. |D

    The animation quality and art quality is indeed pretty good. At least it seems this animation study had more budget than Hakuouki's. |D;
    Exactly! I think it's great that fictional work can inspire an interest in the real world counterpart, even if that part is not part of your own history.
    That reminds me, in Kamisama Hajimemashi'ta, the main character is studying world history and seems to be doing so in great detail (considering what she mentions about the Dutch independence). I remember the part about Japan (very short explanation about how Shogunate Japan transitioned into Empire Japan) in my history course being about 10 lines long. Needless to say that series like Hakuouki tell more than those 10 lines. |D

    And I see you started watching/playing Amnesia? (Judging by your Orion avatar, at least).

    (Don't mind the ' in hajimemashi'ta, PC's autocensoring wold turn it into hajimema****a otherwise |D)
    That's more than right! I'm glad historical fiction can tell stories about a part of history you'd gladly skip in the books. Although it's not always 100% accurate, you still get to know something.
    The anime does an alright job in following the game, so inevitably they cover all the events as well. Chizuru often serves as the narrator do give some background information, but I admit it can get a bit confusing with all the terms. But yes, it is quite an interesting part of history. Even though I don't know the entire background of the Tokugawa era or the Meiji era, I still think it's quite interesting. And watching/reading/gaming is a very nice way of learning about it. (at least better than reading dry history books |D)
    It's deffinitally worth watching. :3
    I was once watching the anime with a friend, and she said it seemed to go a little fast (with all the historical events following each other quite fast), it seems to help a little if you have a little background information about the Bakumatsu (which I got thanks to my Rurouni Kenshin phase... it also massively spoiled me for the entire anime. |D)
    Indeed, that way you get a little more information about all the characters. Of course it's never as in-depth as the game goes, but it's still nice to see that not everyone's put on the bench... like the Game's route seem to do depending on who you play as.
    Well, I started watching the Sekkaroku Anime (not sure which one of the games it's based on - Zuisuroku?), but every episode is someone's route and tells part of the events. It's quite interesting, really. Saitou's episode was so sweet. |D;
    I got the feeling that people have a love-hate relationship with the anime... But I like it. :3
    What I do like about the anime, though, is that they try to incorporate bits from other routes, despite Hijikata's being the main one for the story line.
    That's right. :3 You can form a general image of each character in every route, but once you actually do their route, you see they're much more than what you already know (Sano, for example).

    The anime is quite enjoyable, of course it can't keep up with the game... But I still think they did a nice job on it. : D (and it's good enough to make me a fan, so yeah. |D;)
    Three things really stood out to me when they showed that it was in 3D.

    • The textures they're using are sat miles below what the 3DS is capable of.
    • They may have favoured over-use of 3D, a gimmick which imo gets old fast (so, in fairness, I am somewhat biased here) over actual gameplay content.
    • The previous 3D games, Colosseum and XD, allowed movement beyond four directions while they're still using 'grid'-style movement here. Seems limiting and inflexible.

    Don't get me wrong - I'm not on some sort of crusade against 3D here. I just feel like, just because it's on the 3DS, they don't have to get ultra-obnoxious with it. That said, though, we've not seen enough to judge yet. I'm quietly hoping that the game switches back to the 'overhead' view if 3D is disabled. That'd just be amazing for me!

    All somewhat minor issues which I'll get over and which won't stop me getting the game, though! But yeah some stuff was simply bound to change eventually because GF were just gonna run out of ideas or get stagnant and... that's not really something to complain about. I remember when people were complaining about re-usable TMs, haha.
    Meh, bashing's both expected and acceptable this early. Complaints about new things, unfamiliar are human nature. I know I've personally not taken too nicely to the new 3D-ness of everything (although I'm sure I'll get over it in time!). I just like when people think a little outside of the box and think things through properly and embrace change. d:
    amsdkjrejdreHakuoukifanspotted!

    Thank you very much! Hijikata's been my favourite since the I saw the anime, but lately while getting involved with the actual gameplay, I have a feeling I'm gonna start liking all the guys to some extend. >w> Even Kazama.

    Hello ovo/
    Yes, I'll be so sad if it doesn't come! It's from China though, so I'm really scared! *hides under beanbag chair* Did I just overreact...?
