The "Map" should be a small button on the left that says "Dream Map", near where it lists Return to home, etc.

No, you can find random people on your dream map, and they don't have to be your friends. So the key is to find one person's Dream Home, look at their Share Shelf, then "Return to Dream Map", and find somebody else's Shelf.

Just keep going and going further from your own home checking out shelves! :)

All you have to do is go to Dream Map, then find other people's dream homes near your home. Then, scroll through, and eventually you'll end up at their Shelf, as well as their Home and Berry Garden.
