The reason I believe the first generation lacked creativity is because they were just beginning, so they just tweaked various animals and made them pokemon. I know, that's one reason it was such a great show. Every character was very different, but still very likeable. They dissected a human mind, took six primary traits, exaggerated them, and created our FRIENDS.
