Yeah, for players like me who stick to the core game, it gets really boring. In spite of the fact that I sunk 400 hours into white and 250 in black 2.

Also, been trying to finish SAO lately... I'm at episode 12 right now, but I think I hope they didn't seriously abandon the action for romance. =( If they did then please, kill me now.

Yeah, they should probably code some better AI and give the trainers better teams. The games are easy, the only place to actually find some tough trainers is in competitive battling.

Yeah, I think that if they took more risks the anime could be a lot better. The games still have the amazingly deep and complex gameplay, so that acceptable as much as I'd like to see a unique Pokemon game, but the anime is just a trite and cliche series at this point due to it being too formulaic and the creators being too careful when it comes to change. It's like with a lot of cartoons I've seen: They suck but the creators won't improve because they still make a lot of money and kids can't tell a difference. Pokemon doesn't "Suck" but they won't improve it because they're too worried about... I dunno. They seem to be sitting pretty at this point so they CAN afford to change things up a bit but they won't. =(

It's ironic that I let myself get sidetracked, because Akashi was part of what motivated me to read / watch it in the first place. I saw fanarts of his character, and he intrigued me. XD I might just watch more of it tonight. lmfao. .w.
