  • Hi! He made a grid to make sure that the size of the building is proportional to 8 in width and height, because otherwise he'd have a mess when moving it from the tileset to the blockset,
Also, you have two options there. You can either resize your door to 16x16 (Width = Height), or you could keep it like that and make the animation with only the door, although the top of the door, the part that doesn't open, would be covered by the player when he walks in and it would look weird. So I suggest you go with the first option and resize the door (:
If it's using that many unique colors, try using a palette used by something in the 2nd tileset for maps (palettes 8 - 12). The only thing is that you have to use that particular tileset for every map you want the house to appear in. If this is something you want to use in the 1st tileset, the palettes normally associated with those graphics are between palettes 0 - 6. If we're talking about tileset0 (the tileset for most overworld graphics including trees, rock, water, grass, etc), you have to be careful. You might have to end up trying to make your house fit within the palette scheme of one of those first few palettes instead of the other way around.

The easiest way to add in such a house would be through the 2nd tileset. Lots of tilesets put in the 2nd tileset don't use up all the palettes between 8 and 12, which means you would be free to use any of those unused palettes.
10-11-and 12 in advance map are usually available to use and won't affect any of the other tiles except the secondary tiles that you're probably going over anyway. So for example, Cerulean City, if you insert new tiles and change the pallete of 11 and 12, the blue houses and the orange top houses will only be affected. You could ask Aryan143, I believe he knows more about tiling not too sure.
Cheers! I stopped making it for a while to concentrate on real life, but on days like today when I'm in need of something to do I might as well do a little work :) Not sure how far to make the first Beta go, Ive mapped a decent portion, just need to script a lot of it still... haha
I might still release a little Beta of Oxcrest at some point yeah, I'm currently having a play around with it again at the moment. I just need to find a new Trainer Editor that isn't a Trojan...
I am leaving for school right now, so I can't. I wish I could. Maybe tomorrow? I only have baseball practice from 7-10 EST (GMT-5), any other time I am free.
I guess I should learn how to insert tiles, you wouldn't believe how many times I get asked that, but sorry, no I don't know how to insert tiles.
Oh, sorry just read your visitor message. I'd rather if you make yourself using the OW sprites in my thread. I'll add you to the game.
