I think your splicework is great! you should take it a step further and tweak them a bit with different colors and eyes and shapes and the results will be new pokemon
I think you're going in the right direction with the trainer sprites. I suggest using more highlights and shadows on them so they are rendered. Their clothing is only one color and it makes it feel flat.
really cool graphics for your game! I think it's difficult to tell what your fakemons are exactly. I'm not saying pokemon are supposed to look like animals but usually they are based off of familiar shapes and colors from real life creatures. Anyways good luck on your game!
