Oh. Well energy are still hard to come by. Collectors play a big role in their marketing still. Of course, the theme decks and trainer kits are gold mines right now because most include a lot more energy than you actually need if you have the right trainer cards already in your possession.

They made it an uncommon,though. They just outright stopped making trainers and energies as rares, probably to make it a more balanced game for those who don't have deep pockets. n_n

I recycled almost all of my self-made fakes. :x

You saying Wigglytuff reminded me of the Jungle Wigglytuff card with it's Do the Wave attack. That cards is crazy fun.

Oh. Basic Energies are legal. Special energy are the ones you have to worry about. They did reprint Rainbow Energy in one of the HGSS sets, though. :D

I used paper and made lists of them. I did use gel pens to color in the background to imitate holofoils, though, on the ones I did draw. ;3

Monotype decks are really hit or miss. :<

That card looks pretty good. :O (Neo Revelation was the set, by the way - I cheated and looked it up, since there are only 4 Neo sets)

Oh, for tournaments, nothing older than DP: Majestic Dawn is legal, unless it was reprinted in one of the currently legal card sets. ;( Some leagues (not all) don't care if you use an unlimited deck, though. n_n

We shoould! But there is a lot of work that goes into making even one fake. XD; There's making sure you have the right fonts installed, having the card blanks you want to use, and having/creating foil sheets to make the cards holofoil, plus having the right energy symbols. At least, if you want to create professional looking ones on the computer. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to graphics type work like that, though. XD;

I rarely create monotypes, except for that Psychic one. And all of my decks were fair game to use. I could beat my brother with an electric type deck I had created that was typically weaker than the Psychic deck because it took longer to set up.

Some of the holofoil psychic type Pokemon like Metagross and Mismagius from HGSS Unleashed have foil patterns that just make me zone out every time I look at them because they're so awesome and trippy. XD

The special energy are still perfectly legal... as long as you have a card with the changed wording on it from a later set, like HGSS. And that Steeplechase deck is actually one of the ones I bought! :O Is the Bagon line a "Delta Species" Pokemon?

Ooh! The fossils! One of my never completed deck projects from 09-10 was to build a Rampardos centered deck, but I never got around to building the rest of the deck around the Rampardos line. XD;

Those two don't come in reverse foil.

Oh. A good thing that came out of the DP sets: Dark and Steel Energy now come in basic energy, in addition to their special energy (so Dark and Steel type decks are really viable now! :D ). I personally have grass energy galore. XD; OH! STEEPLECHASE! I have that deck! I think. Or was that a different one. I don't even remember. Do you know what was in that deck?

Designing card sets was fun for me. XD

Julie is certainly more interesting to battle than a sibling that quits when he thinks he's going to lose, though. My brother used to do that a lot. :(

Lv. X and Prime cards are shiny on par with ex cards. (b'-')b

I usually named them after the dominant Pokemon in each, and usually would blend the names of them into one word. XD; Or I named them after the decks I modeled them after. Cases in point: Salquatric (Salamence, Rayquaza, and Manetric), Vilepluff (Vileplume and Jumpluff), AmphyChu (Ampharos and Raichu - one of my 2009-10 ones), BlastCatty (another of my 09-10 ones), and Nidoking. XD; One deck that I didn't name such was my Psychic deck which was basically a psychic type deck with strong basic Psychic types like Mewtwo, Mewtwo ex, and Deoxys. And then there was my Rain Dance+Backup deck, which was a Rain Dance deck enhanced by a Porygon 2 card from the Advance generation of cards that had a PokePower that was very useful in those decks.

I liked the levels when I was planning up my own fakes (which I never drew because I sucked at drawing, but still made a few fakes based off of my imaginary Pokemon XD; ), because I had developed a system to make the HPs make sense for each Pokemon based on what evolution stage they were. XD;

I always was a collector AND a battler. I just never had anyone to battle with. XD;

The normal prints of the holos are much better than the reverse foil prints, in my opinion, at least in the HGSS sets.

I made my own decks for the 2009-2010 modified format, but a few of the better cards aren't legal in those. XD; I did have several unlimited format decks made from older sets, though, prior to me taking them apart for card counting. I built a lot of those myself, but I also had a lot of them that were just tweaked prebuilt decks And I have based a few off of premade decks (and could probably throw together most, if not all, of the premade decks I have bought in the last two years).

I didn't think they were all that bad... except for the design kinda seemed like it was trying to imitate the original card appearances.

Apparently. XD; I usually beat Julie unless she had a type advantage. I had figured out the game pretty quickly. And because of nearly beating the TCG Game Boy game before I lost it, I was actually pretty darn good at building decks because I learned about deck structure. And it didn't hurt that I liked to read magazines like Beckett's Pokemon Collector and Pojo's Unofficial Pokemon Magazine occasionally.

Well, reverse foils do have more trade value amongst some. it's an ooh shiny effect

I did devise a way, albeit a time-consuming one, to play over MSN. And I'd totally battle you if I had the time. Of course, there's also Redshark, but I find that more difficult to set up than my method. ^-^;;

The DP sets did have a lot better energy efficiency, though. That really cut down on game lengths. HGSS sets are still lots of fun, though. ^_^

Sounds like you had PlayIt V2 first, and then had PlayIt. PlayIt V2 has a built-in deck builder that you can use to battle Julie with. And I think you can pick whether she uses one of your decks or not. Not sure. XD;

Yeah, after a long Egg chaining I finally had it, and I love him.

It's only up to 10, but you're guaranteed a rare (not always foil) and a foil (usually a reverse foil, and typically of a common or uncommon, but special rares such as the LEGEND cards and the Alph Lithographs also come in the pack in this spot). PokeBeach has higher quality scans of the cards, iirc.

They reprinted those in HGSS. They're pretty darn useful. ^_^

Oh. That. It actually made the game more interesting among the modern cards, but with the HGSS sets they've pretty much stuck by the x2 weaknesses.

Pokemon PlayIt! ? :D I have copies of both PlayIt! and PlayIt V2 in my posession! PlayIt V2 I got from a Zapdos-related theme deck super pack, but I busted that first copy in a CD ROM drive. XD; I later got myself both, though.

Well... they usually aren't gamebreaking cards anymore. I got around 4 of the bottom half of Lugia LEGEND before I finally got the top half of it. XD; For some reason, it was far easier for me to complete Ho-oh LEGEND in my area. XD; They've got amazing designs, but they weren't viable until Unleashed was released. I actually like the design of the HGSS series cards, what with the gold and silver blended in the card border.

No. 60 is still the only amount you can have (unless you play with half-decks, which are apparently very popular in Japan). The core rules themselves actually didn't change much. It's more periphery rules and the fact that they split Trainers into different card types officially (functionally, they had been that way since '02, but were technically all still "Trainer" cards).

The only game I lost was the TCG game. But I still had the cards. XD;

Ah. Well, they give away promos for free now, but you do have to battle a certain number of times, or show up on the days just before they enter a new season and have an oversupply of promos because the new season's shipment just came in. They stopped with the badges, though. Probably got too expensive to make. D;

I actually was one of the few kids I knew who knew how to play. XD;

I have maybe one deck put together right now, and the rest are in pieces because I have been counting my cards and want an official count. XD;

I grew up on a mix of the games and the TCG, but mostly just through battling myself and collecting. XD
