With Live.... you just register his FC (like any other) and turn VC off when you get into wi-fi wth X.
Then you invite for the trade so some random person doesn't click on him.
Also, be sure to involve your FC somewhere in your request post.

Okay... bring up another window/tab or whatever, after clicking "reply to thread" or "new Reply" or whatever.
Have the other tab/window on the first page where you can just copy and paste the specifics into the reply box.
Make sure you ask for them. Say something like:
Hey I just stumbled across this and saw you were doing a giveaway, may i have----

Or something similar. Just be sincere about your request and not like "give me this. NAO." and the thread holder will get back to you when they can on it. :)

You could offer a Bidoof for all they care as long as it is one of the pokemon offered for the giveaway.
Live_wire466 is doing his for the 1 year anniversary of his thread and you can pick any three pokemon off of it for free (more than one set, but it looks like 1 set a day) from now until Sunday!
And ~RNC~ does a shiny giveaway every sunday. 1 pair per request. As long as you follow her rules and thank her after every trade you can get as many pairs as you want for absolutely nothing!
