its easy all you need is wifi

1 go to the pokemon center
2 go down stairs
3 talk to the lady to get your friend code online
4 give someone you game name and you friend code and then the other person will give you the name and friend code
3 when you register their friend code and name in the palpad you just talk to teh lady again downstairs and it will take you to wifi and then you start the battle when hes online

well the thing i like about pokemon is that you can keep as pets or you can catch them and have battles.:D
