I think it's slow due to Ghost/Pro. I know when some of my friends and I went back to MW2 we were like "The match is already over?". Because we were used to Black Ops being slow and taking forever to get the 75 kills needed to win a TDM. So MW2 we finished it in a few mins where Black Ops would likely take double the time.
I'm better at Black Ops then I am any other CoD, but I don't like it, I find the game really boring.
Halo Reach I really wanted to get into. But I couldn't due to the class thing (or whatever it's call). I know they tried to mix things up and maybe take a page from CoD. But I had more fun playing Halo 3 then I did Reach.
There's nothing wrong with using a Spy Plane (on top of that, killstreaks don't count toward your overall killstreak. I've had flawless 35+ kill games but my highest killstreak is 20 something iirc). On Black Ops I always ran Spy Plane. I put Hardline on most of my classes so getting 2 kills wasn't a prob for me. I normally played in a group so there was no point in me running 3 high killstreaks (even if I could get them). Some of us would have killstreaks wasted because we'd have Chopper Gunners stacked (such as I have one, someone else has one, another person has one, etc) and waiting.
