Ah, yes, I've heard much about the effects of NCLB. ;( For our school, high test scores are more a matter of pride than funding, though.

:D It's part of the human condition.

Grades this year for us are just percentages that are taken from exams, tests taken throughout the year, and assignments (weighted accordingly). Then, we're ranked, and some top group of people is offered the opportunity to take CIE. It'd kind of be a waste if I didn't get in, since they've spent the entire year teaching us how to answer questions for one system as opposed to the other. (Don't you just love teaching to the test?)

I am forever afflicted with laziness. D;

Which one I get to do is dependent on the results I get this year, but nothing has really indicated that I'll have any trouble getting in, so... :3 The international standards are apparently harder, but more straightforward in understanding. The main reason I want to get in is because it will make it easier for me to get university entrance a year early, which would allow me to enter university at 16. :3

Yeah. It's a really weird and complex system. @_@;

I guess it's easier when your parents do all the work. ^^;

There are two systems that one can take in my country - NCEA, the national standard, and CIE, the international one. In all likelihood, I'll be taking the latter, where I just get percentages and letter grades based on that.

NCEA is kind of weird though. You can outscore someone but get a lower grade than them. ~_~

I don't think there's ever been a time in my life where I just get pets. ^-^;
