Nothing like that.. Battletech started back in the 1980s as Battledroids the Table top game, but was changed to Battletech due to George Lucas trade marking the word droid. Battletech is mainly a miniatures game (for sexy painted miniature pictures go to
www.camospecs.com camospecs are the "offical" painters for Battletech). It expanded into the video game market with the Mechwarrior series, Mechcommander, Cresent Hawks, and MechAssault* are all based off Battletech.
*MechAssault is very LOOSELY based off Battletech some story elements (Word of Blake and Wolf Dragoons are actual factions), and many of the Mechs.
Battletech story wise has some unique elements compared to other Sci Fi:
1: No aliens... just humans killing humans... though some humans are modified themselves to extremes that they might be considered alien (genecaste) but still deep down they are human.
2: Shades of grey... there is no "good guy" everyone has their skeletons and secrets and depending on your point of view you might see some as the "good guys" and others as not... that being said there are cases of almost white and almost black faction wise. There are some white hats and black hats, but mostly it's different shades of grays.
3: Mechs are not like they are in anime... they are not super maneuverable ninja samurai. They are walking tanks basically. While they tend to be the best ground unit they do not dominate everything without effort usually. Tanks, Helicopters, infantry (especially Battle Armor equipped infantry), and Aerotechs (fighters/bombers) can and will take on Mechs and beat them.
Honestly when it comes to pokemon teams I just choose what I like I think my Emerald party is (its changed a bit)
Gardevoir
Kirlia
Linoone (sometimes gets pulled out for a HM user)
Beloom
Marill (GF likes it)
a bird for fly...
Horrid team I know... but I don't like the looks of most of the Pokemon out there so... when I can I will put a Mawile in... Sigh I do like the cute Pokemon >.< but I also like the awesome ones too (Scyther, Charizard, Blastoids, and such).
I like the Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir purely due to the consept of being emotion Pokemon. The idea that a pokemon can read and understand human emotion I find interesting. Also I see them as being the most loyal... and I like how the Gardevoir looks :p
