I would like to openly contest AND PROTEST the MotY rule about voting for banned users, it is indeed unfair, as those users did indeed have an impact on the community, regardless of how much we don't want to admit it. They deserve the same recognition as anyone else does, and erasing them completely is impossible. It's one thing to erase what they said/posted as a way to keep the peace or discourage their actions, but refusal to allow members to recognize the impact they had on the community is completely unfair. This is especially the case for people who have been temporarily banned for offenses that were largely unrelated to any categories. Some people have more run-ins with the law than others...that doesn't necessarily make them any more a bad person than it does the next, nor does that make them ineligible to be mentioned as someone who had an impact on PC, but just somehow managed to get on the wrong side of the rules a few times too many.
Naturally I feel that banned members won't likely win any category except maybe the 'bad' ones which point out the most 'questionable' or dodgy members. Maybe they could win a humorous category, which is certainly no endorsement of the actions leading to their banning, whatever those may be.
