And also looking back that info I gave seems REALLY spotty. One day, I might get the urge again to find out more, but it's tough without any tuts, and horizontal connections are a nightmare. Dx

Edit: I saw your video here with a rightward connection, do you have any set way? (Other than not changing the map size :P) I've gotten OMDL to load correctly, but upon stepping onto the map, the CMPDL is wrong and, although the movement permissions match the graphics, no more graphics are loaded after stepping on the map, and I cannot go further.

You mean be more than just battling 8 gyms, a rival, an evil team and such? I might be able to get ideas for my Red and Gold ROM Hacks, they'll probably be finished last. I'll be working on the alpha of my Fire Red and Emerald hacks first though. Then next year learn stuff about Gen. I and II hacking.

The reason why is what some WAH ROM Hackers say here. You might have to use Google Translate though. It seems that they only edit tilesets, insert Gen. 4 & 5 Pokemon and make new scripts. No real ROM Hacking was really done as it seems more of an edit. So yes I plan on hacking Red and Gold in the future! :)

I see that you're experienced with 2nd gen hacking. That being the case wanna help me remake Blue on the Silver platform? I understand hex some and I've done the hero sprite and changed the Maril and hero intro sprite. If interested let me know, just started a couple days ago! :)

I'm glad it helped. I primarily made that thread because of the frequent private messages I receive by newbies asking how to hack R/B. Good thing that it helped other people too! About RGBDS, I know, windows version is buggy and tends to crash for no clear reason. Eventually I decided to follow IIMarckus's suggestion and using the UNIX version through the use of Cygwin (since I have no Linux on the PC). Also:
- No$gmb = bad.
- BGB = very good!

smh at myself, that is what i'm looking for a hex editor and when i try to look for it i can't seem to find one that works for 2nd gen games.

since you know how to hack second gen, i'll just ask. I'm trying to find the needed program to edit the trainers for pokemon silver, any idea where that tool?

Actually I think I may give GB/GBC Hacking a try, and yeah I know I'm on/off for this, it's just that I don't have "inspiration" yet. Maybe when Prism or Dark Future are finished they will inspire me, but I'll wait. So yeah I will hack Red/Gold in the future. :)

By the way I don't think I'll be hacking Red/Gold. It's not the generation of Pokemon I was introduced to and I wouldn't be myself. I'd rather hack the 3rd generation instead after all we do have many good GBA hacks. I'll tell you which ones, one of them is Azure Horizons a ROM Hack that not a ton of people care about.

Oh, have you checked out Light Platinum? It's being translated to English currently.

Azure Horizons is good, it actually feels like a new Pokemon game. Not trying to be mean but Light Platinum is kind of boring... :P
