I find it easiest just to go up and down on a long route with it first in party, out with me, holding a soothe bell, and maybe even inside a luxury ball.

Make the Eevee happy and then level it up and night/day (The dark/light ingame) for Umbreon/Espeon respectively.
Heheh, I know, I just decided to take a berak from it after the week and do some more on my Ho-oh hunt.
And I got surprised by how much quicker soft resetting is than egg breeding and hatching.

NONE! xD My Eevee is currently alone with one of it's clones, and the clone has been nicknamed MoonSpirit (Which is what Umbreon translates as in Chinese), and when I get Platinum will be part of my 6-Shiny-Main-Game-Playthrough-Team. And, naturally, become a blue-ring Umbreon. xD

Noo, noo, you spent 3000 soft resets worth of your time to get it! You should train him up and use him a in a black/white competitive team... YOu never know, if you EV him you may run into a shiny ^_^
