I think it just depends on the player.
And besides...if "most bassists" are playing with their index and middle finger (they are) that just gives me all the more reason to use my thumb,and set myself apart from the crowd! :D

Haha,if I were you I wouldn't set in my mind that it'll take me five years to learn that.
It just depends on how much heart you put into it,I decided that i'd learn a song in the first week and I did (granted i've already started getting calluses,but not the point...) you just need to give it all you got and you'll do exceptionally. :D
I want to shed a bit more of a spotlight on the Bass.
The Guitar is really cool. It's maybe one of the most iconic Instruments out there.
It's had some really amazing people play it, Robert Johnson for example.
But what about Bass Guitars? That my friend is what I want to achieve on a Bass.
On a side note... Is this the same Alex that was telling me that Three Days Grace was to soft for his liking? xD
