  • I'm so sorry, things have come up and I haven't had the time to complete it. Tomorrow afternoon, I promise, or you can just go on without me.
I'm kinda discouraged by the fact that my questions get ignored by everyone bot you, gimmepie. Does this happen often to newer people? XD
Oh, you shouldn't think about it too much! The fact that there are a lot of journey RPs or pokémon RPs as a whole now probably means that a lot of people like to play in those. They get filled up, I mean, right?

It's a nice thing that you're striving to become good, of course, but promise not to worry about that either :) In that case, I think you should focus on Reapers, because like I said, it really seems to be successful. If you apply that level of good GMing on Novia too, it'll probably be great as well!
Out of curiosity, how many rps have you made/finished? Whàt have you learnt about the "keys to success"?

If I have time I might try making a theme for novia but its not likely xD

I might come up with my first rp of the year before summer.
    Where's your own su btw?
GM discretion, definitely. The method's there for a reason. First of all, if you only allow pokemon to be caught if it's a decent post, that would make the RPers try their hardest in order to succeed instead of just plopping out a post whenever they can. Secondly, this way you can also control their power relatively easy, making sure that none of the Rpers will have overpowered moves and levels. Imagine if it's all free and a trainer teaches his pokemon four powerful TM moves. When you want to stop him and tell him to change, it'll be troublesome for everyone. Prevent > correction. I've seen Freedom-system'd Rps and pro-GM ones...I can say that the latter is safer.

However, I do worry about one thing - the RPers in our Novia thing don't seem to be that active. Like Yoshi for example. If there's one thing that's going to completely destroy an RP despite how good it is would be player inactivity. Trust me, out of 10+ RPs I made, only ~3 made it through as most people had poofed from the site mid-way.
    1. There must be some sort of interaction throughout the entire RP though. I'm not saying that they should all meet up at the beginning, but nobody would want to RP alone.

    2. Just wanted to know if you have any specific systems. Normally, a trainer would battle the pokemon in his thread and end by throwing a pokeball. In the OOC thread, the GM would decide whether he gets it or not (it pops back out again or flees).

Freedom is a good thing, but an open-world Roleplay is really hard to execute here. There must be something linear that would guide us along those lines, otherwise it might not bode well. Not saying that you should limit everything though, just trying to say that right now, we're pretty much in a rather vague environment and it's rather confusion. I hope the RP's system and other factors would be crystal clear soon. x3
However, the biggest problem in a journey RP is that it lacks motivation for some people if there's no communication. Secondly, how will we catch Pokemon? Have you set up the system for that yet? Are you going to roleplay as the Pokemon? Are we going to roleplay about fighting it ourselves? You need to make these clear in order to give us a more general picture of what you have in mind. x3

    When are we starting, exactly?
