It's basically where you use a 12-tone row (every note in an octave in half steps gets assigned a number so C is 1, C# is 2, and then D is 3 etc). Imagine scrambling those numbers. The order is what way they occur in the melody but you can repeat them. Then you use a matrix system to get inversions of the original roe to harmonize with it. Its really mathematical but it's kinda cool and personally I think tricky to make it sound good. Haha. I study classical music/theory a lil bit. Or did my first couple years of college.
