I got A-'s, but I am that guy that is always disappointed with grades. Its not the grades that are bothering as much tho.
First speech: info speech about E3. Apparently no one except my best friend in the class plays video games. The ones that do, said they were not interested in E3. I even tried to make it more relatable by mention Mario and Zelda with Nintendo because EVERYONE has played at least one title from either series. But no.
Second Speech: It was a performance speech sort of thing. The teacher said we could do something ironic and that its usually pretty good. So, I preformed an excerpt from "Dulce Decorum Est", which is a poem condemning war. I read it in a very happy way with a smile on my face despite the gruesome images. In the past, I have written very dark and depressing stories and poems and have done very well on them. In fact, I preformed one and EVERYONE loved it. So, I thought doing something different would be cool, especially because the teacher was my english teacher last year. Yea, nope.
Again, no one liked it. They said they would have if I did it in a darker tone.
Third Speech: Wedding toast. Went well, nothing horribly wrong.
But in all of them, I spoke too fast and didnt articulate well. I didnt have pauses and read a little too much instead of speaking.
And Monday is my demonstration speech. I have to speak for like 20 minutes, and I will be demonstrating how to wedge clay and begin to make a hand-built bowl. (I take ceramic classes btw). Ill buy enough clay so everyone can try and I am hoping the school will let me use the ceramics studio in the art building for the speech. If not, ill have to bring in wax paper and tape it down to desks or something.
