  • Thanks for the notice. Sorry I couldn't go on because I was out. I'm also charging my DS now. But no problem

Sorry for Megaupload...it doesn't need no account. It's faster ^^;.

Yeah, that's the magic trade-off. Sometimes it does help to reset early if you're not confident that you can make it...I broke Diglett at 40 late at night once << (on accident, obviously). I'll never get that high again...
    Cool, another one-
You've gotta be insane to try resetting before 40. It's too much eye strain :/. If it's a rare one like Numel or Cacnea, then it doesn't necessarily hurt to stop early and begin resetting...just realise it could take a good 50 repels before something might show up. 20 is a safe bet at 40.
As far as worst-case scenarios go, my sister tried to pull in a Gastly at 39..worst experience ever. It took two hours of resetting the radar, no breaks. It happens.
If you'd like, I have a spreadsheet with the odds at each chain and their 'average # sweeps' needed to find a shiny patch...they took it off the site, but I can upload it if you want.
Don't get me wrong, while shiny patches are, for the most part, not missable (that a word?), ones in the 4-box close to the edge during certain times of day are easy to miss if you don't scan the entire area every reset. I sometimes find myself almost missing them because I focus on my character and not the whole patch ^^;...
Yes, I'm a witness to this. Since shinies aren't random, I don't know how this really works, but the shiny patches are guaranteed shinies. I suppose, additionally, normal and blinger patches have the 1/8192 chance of a shiny. How it works, I don't know.
I found a Roselia that way, and my sister found a Staravia and something more recent...Wobbuffet? It does happen. Leave no patch unchecked!
