jakerman: It sounds like the version you downloaded has some bugs. Have you downloaded the Free Version of Cygnus from this site? http://www.softcircuits.com/cygnus/
But, if you keep having problems with it, then I'm not really sure about another hex editor with a similar interface (besides Hex Workshop, which comes in a 15 day trial version)

tried cygnus on pokémon blue, crash. no error message, no process, no application, no window. 5 minutes, still nothing.

crystal, same thing.

fire red, same thing.

ruby, same error I had last time(which occurred on a leaf green rom).

open an image, opens fine. open a text document crash.
there isn't any consistency, so I'm lost.
I'll try re installing it, but if that doesn't work, is there some other hex editor that has a similar interface?

jakerman, I dont know because I never had that problem (I know that opening large files may require a good computer), have you tried opening a GBC rom, or any other small file? (hex editors can open anything, as you may have realized :P)

hey zel, I was trying your minitutorial on changing the worldmap picture, and I downloaded cygnus free edition(seeing as shiny gold is proof that it works) nut it gives me an error when I open a rom. the microsoft thing where it needs to close. would you know why it causes this, or how to fix it?

Go to http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=1267 where you can download 'EFA Client 2.83 Version'. Open the EFA Client program. Use the USB linker to connect to the computer and the flash card. Click on search. It will find your extreme flash card. Add the roms as you wish, when you see 'READ OK' under the progress bar, and the light on the flash card is green, you can close the program and remove the cable.
