  • Thrashing the E-Clair
Alright, since I said that this is going to be shorter, I meant it:

Team Rocket began invading Goldenrod city, had a few problems with the Weezings, but overall a decent and long storyline key. It isn't hard to get through here, but it takes too long!
Then, Ice Path. Ice path's sliding puzzle really had me confused for a while. It took me 7 minutes to get to the other side, along with Golbats and annoying strength puzzles.. Ice Path: I surely will never return!

Clair can be found on this video here
    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ19pwtzmew
Her gym was easy to solve, but the trainers who had Seadras annoyed me to no end.

I had to decide whether to take the long way to Mt. Mortar or the annoying way to Mt. Mortar. In the end, I took the mountain path (Long way btw.) and took about 4 minutes traversing the vast environments of Johto just to get to a stupid mountain, of which I spent more time searching for Karate King Kihyo.
The King gave me a Tyrogue after I kicked him in the bollocks, I named him Hidato. Hidato will be my Hitmontop!
However, when I evolved him into Hitmontop, I put him the daycare to make 2 more eggs; reserved for Hichiro and Hitomi. Now I have 3 pokemon who have Japanese names that I put no research into checking out! Hooray!

Training the 3 took a good long while, I ended up spending half the time in the Victory Road training them to learn their best moves which are:
    Hitomi: Reversal
    Hidato: Triple Kick
    Hichiro: Erm... nothing.

So now I'm at the Elite four, I recently destroyed my rival. However he DID take out Hichiro and Hidato, with Muscle almost going down in the process. However, this was only because I wasn't trying.
I'll blog next time when I beat the Elite Four of Johto and arrive at Kanto on the Luxury Liner S.S. Anne!

  • I'm starting to hate this... seriously, did bugs get weaker, or am I imagining things? I've had to grind massively to beat these gyms... but I'm so not in the mood for another grindfest atm haha.

Pokemon Ruby "Blog" Part 4: Roasted Turtle over a Slug Lit Fire!~

After defeating Wattson, I was ready to continue on to the 4th gym... who specialized in bug types. Knowing how hard it would be, I backtracked to home and 30 minutes of searching the grass later (Rare is wow... Rare), I found a Surskit! Soon, Flit the Surskit was the 6th member of my team! A bit later, I hit level 22 and he tried to evolve. Unfortunately, I stopped him. I did it 2 more times, until Flit finally learned Bubblebeam, and I let him evolve. I then taught him the TM for Ice Beam I bought earlier. I was ready.

I set out north of Mauville with a Zigzagoon I caught earlier, and used it to Rock Smash the boulders blocking my way. After realizing Floe was not very useful, I decided to put her in my PC permanently, along with my Shedinja. I really wanted the rare fossil bug as my 6th member! I continued on, and met a guy near a tree, who gave me a TM for a move called Secret Power, which I taught to Gloe.

The lift was closed by team magma, so I had to go around, through the volcano. Eventually, I found myself in a mountain with a waterfall, and Team Magma ran off to the lift, and the professor was startled. I followed them back to the lift, and fought my way to their leader, and won, taking back the meteor before they could level the world with lava.

After defeating Maxie, I was able to head south, into Lavaridge town, and to my 4th gym battle!

Pokemon Ruby "Blog" Part 5: The Bugs Smack Father! :O

Since the next gym was not far away, I decided hurry back to Petalburg City and finally challenge Dad to a gym fight!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc5BWKRV4iE

I really didn't want to use Swords Dance hax, but alas, I've had enough grinding, and wanted ONE freakin gym leader to go down easily -.- I seriously wonder if they made bug pokemon weaker... haha.

After training Pell a bit i reached petalburg city and went to see the house dad and we talked a bit and he had me show this kid named Wally how to catch a Pokémon. When i came back i talked to the hgouse dad and he told me the first gym was in Rustburo city. Then i headed off. As i was heading out of town, this guy in a flowered shirt and sunglasses called me a rookie trainer. Dude i'm the E4 champion of Johto and Kanto pus i beat Red i was ready to tell him off when he just left. Weird dude.

    Rock Madness
I go into the gym with Pell leading and sweep anti climatic, huh? thought it would be hard with the flying type thing.

    Return of the Thug
As i leave the gym i see the deven guy and he yell at the thug. I know i have to help. I do help. I get to the cave where the thug is at and he has taken a wingull hostage. Pell is pissed now. So i rescue it. I'm thanked and i get a great ball. He takes me to the Devin head quarters and i get another mission and a pokenav.

i beat blue in a few hours. and since i beat the game, i'll just go through the significant battles.

    Brock
Taken out by my charmeleon and ember. rock/ground didn't have very good resistance back in the day i guess. it was sad because this was supposed to be one of the hardest battles and it wasn't :(

    Misty
Ok, so i skipped her to begin with and went to the S.S. Anne first to evolve charmeleon. then i came back and took out staryu and starmie with one hit each. also supposed to be one of the hardest, but sadly, it wasn't.

    Surge

Still not hard, even though i now i had a a part flying type. he didn't get an attack in. i used slash which has an incredible critical ratio. and by incredible, i mean got a critical hit every time.

    Erika

I have nothing to say about this battle. by this time i had a flareon and a charizard. i believe charizard, if not both of them had flamethrower at the time, so everything got burnt.

    Koga
I actually forgot who i was fighting for this battle. i didn't realize it was a gym leader. charizard had slash and flareon had body slam, and both had flamethrower. koga also got kicked in the face.

    Sabrina
Seeing as how psychic types have bad defences, and my two pokemon had high attacks, this thing was over real quick. i think the only one that didn't get knocked out in one hit was mr. mime, but he still didn't have much hp after that hit.

    Blaine

I had caught a magmar and taught it strength, so that took out his first two pokes, and then brought rapidash down to half hp before getting outted, so then charizard cleaned up.

    Giovanni
This should have been hard. ground vs. fire end with ground winning. but it didn't. this battle was over really fast. the hardest parts were the rhyhorns but they still went down quick. overall, i'm disappointed in the gym leaders from the first generation.

    The Elite 3
I'm grouping them together because i beat them numerous times only to be defeated by lance or my rival/the champion. i took everything down in one or two hits because they were too busy using pointless x-stat enhancements.

    Lance
Gyrados was easy, mostly because flareon used bite and gyrados didn't actually land any attacks for the most part. the dragonairs also went down quick from flareon body slams. aerodactyl was a little harder, but it also didn't use/land many attacks. so even though it resisted my flamethrowers, it went down. dragonite wasn't the hardest at all. 2 slashes from charizard = dead.

    Champion
the first time i got to him, i only had a charizard with roughly half of its hp left. i managed to take down everything until blastoise which got a lucky hydro pump in and killed me. (i refused to use and potions/revives) the next time i got to him, i had revived magmar and flareon, so i took down pidgeot with magmar, and then alakazam, exeggutor, arcanine, and magneton with flareon. blastoise got rid of flareon after i body slammed and paralyzed it, so charizard came in and finished the job.

    FINAL TEAM:
    7e3850800f.png

    Fire Punch
    Confuse Ray
    Strength
    Smokescreen

    High - Attack 111
    Low - Defense 75

    6f85675ee0.png

    Flamethrower
    Fire Blast
    Bite
    Body Slam

    High - Attack 234
    Low - Defense 121

    4991ba13aa.png

    Slash
    Cut
    Flamethrower
    Seismic Toss

    High - Speed 183
    Low - Defense 151

i'll have better updates for crystal, mostly because i won't beat it in a couple hours

  • I've beaten the Elite Four, so while I'm uploading the videos, I'll tell you all about it.

Yet Another Perfect Sweep and Annoyance!

I think that this perfect sweep thing on the first elite four member is becoming a little running gag isn't it? Will died thanks to Megahorn within seconds. I know I can beat all of Sydney's Pokemon in one hit, but I think the running joke will be broken when I challenge Aaron of Sinnoh's Elite Four. It doesn't matter, but it would be funny if the first members of all 4 E4s went down in one. Ho ho ho..

Koga took some hints from Bruno when it came to being annoying. His Crobat decided it would be funny to get some evasion hax with double team; just as Bruno's Hitmonchan did in Generation 1.
Luckily for me, his Pokemon were at drastically low levels, with Crobat being level 44. Haha, that's just pathetic for the Elite Four, so they went down with little problem by my awesome army of fighting specialists! What he says about brute force not being the answer is disproved in this fight.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YMPe9rHvwq0

Wrestling with Bruno, Punching in the dark

Ah yes, Bruno's back folks! He's looking a lot less like a caveman in this generation, but he still has the habit of shouting out '"HOO HAH!"'. Of course, now I can't stop saying it, it's contaigious!
I decided to have a little fun with Bruno in this fight, so I brought out the same Pokemon as he did; so it was:

    Hitmonlee Vs Hitomi
    Hitmonchan Vs Hichiro
    Machamp Vs Muscle

Wait, where's Hidato in all this mess?!? I forgot about him, and Hidato is my weakest member. No offense to that poor spinning top, but his moveset kinda blows. As for his Onixes, Hidato tried his best at using triple kick, but it turns out that the move is less useful than first thought.

Karen was my next challenge. Luckily for me, she has a type disadvantage, so I could easily defeat her evil dark types. Even Vileplume was no problem thanks to Hichiro and Fire Punch. There's not much at all to say about Karen apart from what she says at the end about battling with your favourites. It's true, it's way better than fighting with what's the best.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=I4iFYqgxjLo

    Fighting with Dragons

The final battle of Johto proves to be a hard one. Luckily for me, Hichiro has Ice punch which gives a tidy 2HKO to Lance's pokemon. Because Hichiro has higher defenses than Hitomi, he can also whistand a few Wing Attacks, making this fight a no brainer.
I win the match and become the Johto champion! The next stage will be Kanto, but I won't blog the gym leaders there to speed things up.

  • Pokemon Ultimate Mono Type Grass Challenge Update 1

    Blog

Well the beginning of this challenge wasn't too challenging obviously. Pick Bulbasuar as my starter making all future battles against my rival that much more difficult. Beat rival and quickly delivered Professor Oaks package. Once I got my pokedex, I headed to Virdian Forest and beat every Bug Catcher I could find. I then trained it until it learnt Vine whip which would help make the gym battle to come that easier.

I then healed Bulbasuar and headed straight to battle Brock for my first badge. The battle was so easy that I had to stall leech Seed stall Geodude in order to get any enjoyment out of the battle. His next pokemon was Onix, but it didn't cause last took long against my grass type pokemon.

After getting my badge I left the town and headed to Mt Moon, there I caught a Paras, and taught him Bullet Seed, since she wasn't going to learn any grass moves till later. Bulbasuar evolved and I easily got through the cave. At the end of the cave, I picked the Helix fossil for no particular reason.

Healed my pokemon in Cerulean City, and headed towards Nugget Bridge in order to catch my last pokemon for now. There I meet up with my rival once again, and in a very tough battle (due to his Pidgeotto and Charmander) I managed to win. As a reward I got a useless device to help me remember what other people say about the gym leaders and other supposedly important people. After putting that device in my bag, never to see the light of day again, I challenged Nugget Bridge.

After defeating every trainer there I got a Nugget and a position at Team rocket. I declined the position though as their uniform just not cool enough. I then caught an Oddish in the grass right next to the bridge and when on my way to Bill's house for no particular reason. I got to Bill's house and after helping out got a ticket to go on the SS Annie. With that sorted out I headed back to Cerulean City to face Misty for my second badge.

My second gym badge was actually too easy for my taste, Oddish took down Staryu and left Starmie with very little health remaining and Paras sent it packing. I then exited the gym and after healing my pokemon set out to reach Vermulian city. On the way there I caught a Meowth, in order for it to be my Hm slave, and a Spearow, so I could trade it to get the 10 pokemon I needed to get the HM for Flash.

Nothing of interest happened on the SS Annie, apart from Oddish and Paras, evolving. Beat my Rival again, surprisingly he wasn't as annoying as the last battle, and got the HM for Cut, which I taught to Meowth. Got off the ship healed my pokeon and challenged the 3rd Gym.

Lt Surge wasn't hard, due to the fact that none of electric attacks did much damage to my pokemon. Gloom and Parasect finished off his Volorb and Pikachu while Ivysuar quickly Koed his Raichu.

  • Hmmm, I might want to try flying, but a question before I make any sudden movements. If I get charmander for instance, could I possibly train it to Charizard since it becomes part flying then, or is it prohibited? And can I do a similar thing with a Dratini? Oh yeah, could that be possible with EXP sharing them till they're evolved? (BTW Brock would be hell, I guess I'd just train them like mad till they're strong enough, which would be like lvl 20 XD)

  • Yeah, using Charmander would be all right. I myself am using an Eevee now, waiting for him to evolve into Espeon.

And since you're using Flying, you also have Pidgey and Caterpie to catch before Brock, you know. :P

Update on my electrc challenge in Silver

just got done dominating the elite 4 with my team of two electric pokemon

    heres my team:

    MethodMan (ampharos) lvl 54
    fire punch
    dynamic punch
    thundershock
    thunderpunch

    RZA (lanturn) lvl 52
    take down
    confuse ray
    spark
    surf

heres how the elite 4 went down
    Will
every one of his pokemon was taken down with one move by Method very easy

    Koga
all his pokemon were taken down by a fire punch except his muk which fell to one surf again very easy

    Bruno
thought this would be atleast a challenge but it was not as his machamp is the only pokemon to get a hit off and his 3 cross chops only brought Method down to about half

after healing up off to Agatha
would have been a clean sweep except Gengar took my Methodman when he fainted with him so i sent out RZA to just rape his murkrow and houndoom again very easy

    Lance
i thought his dragonite would be a problem and they proved to be tough against Methodman as i ran out of pp for thunderpunch his best move against dragons but thundershock took down one dragonite and almost another but it caught me and RZA was able to easily beat his final Aerodactyl and Charizard

now i just boarded the s.s. anne and prepare for hopefully a tougher challenge

a little note as i was going through the first 8 gyms there was absolutly no challenge till the last gym leader but still only tough because all my moves were not very effective but still a quite dominating performance

  • Mrchewy's Monotype Challenge
    Generation: 1st
    Game: FireRed
    Type: Water

    PEWTER CITY

Well, after choosing Squirtle and beating my rival, I began my Pokémon journey. Choosing the Water-type means that things won't be too difficult, as it's the most common type in the game. So I breezed through Viridian Forest after beating my rival for the second time, and since I was only leveling my one Pokémon, I found him to be level 13 by the time I entered Pewter.

I completely destroyed Brock, one hitting all his Pokémon using Water Gun. By the time I beat him, my Squirtle had evolved. All in under one hour, phew!

Finally, after pushing through Route 3 and reaching the entrance of Mt. Moon, I bought my Magikarp. Now, the hard training will begin. I managed to get through Mt. Moon while at the same time, leveling my Magikarp. I got out with my Wartortle on 7 health. Very lucky indeed.

I beat my rival with surprising ease, and spent nearly an hour and a half training my Magikarp to level 20. When it evolved, I took on Misty. Surprisingly, she wasn't very difficult at all, since both my Pokemon knew Bite. One more badge down!

  • Im back from the LONG break I took.
Six days ago, I forgot to say I beat Norman and got HM Surf, which I taught to Blue. Now Im training till Vulcano, Sandy and Clay Evolve and till they are around level 39 more or less. Ill blog the battles against Flannery and Norman tomorrow and Ill try to record the battle against Winona (Vba stopped recording for some reason, I think because of a virus). Till then, later.
