THE STORY SO FAR

It's been three days since Suncatcher Island went from being a vacation destination to a sick and twisted science experiment. And you've been in the middle of it ever since.

The deception went off quickly. Day one, all civilian communications went dead, the only airport on the island was shut down with no flights having any clearance to leave, and all three harbors on the island underwent lockdown. Anyone caught trying to escape to Hoenn, the next closest mainland, was caught by unknown assailants. Initial rumors suspected Team Aqua or some other criminal organization. But it was much worse than that.

Since then, there's been hysteria and many reported missing or dead. Chemical agents have been deployed in populated areas that either mutate people and Pokémon, or just outright kill them in grizzly ways as what appear to be failed science experiments. Others have reported seeing disoriented Pokémon that show evidence of having once been human, trying to seek help from people who don't even know what's going on.

It's been three days now, and everyone on the island has been under the threat of what has been revealed as EXTOL, a deranged, scientific, cult-like organization that has been capturing humans and their Pokémon and using them for twisted experimentation. Witnesses have reported seeing strange individuals in high-tech orange and black hazmat suits deploying the chemical agents, capturing innocent civilians, and gunning down or using their Pokémon to neutralize anyone posing as a serious threat.

Rumors have been going around that several of the chemical agents have turned humans into half-human, half-Pokémon creatures. Others have reported seeing humans turned completely into Pokémon, and others confirm even stranger mutations, or failed mutations resulting in death. The truth is Hoenn knows nothing about the incident and EXTOL has been manipulating communications, hacking servers, putting double-agents within the emergency response branches of Hoenn's municipalities, and doing everything they can to make the situation seem perfectly normal to buy themselves as much time as possible. By the time Hoenn finds out, it may be too late for anyone to intervene.

THE CURRENT SITUATION

By now, half the island seems to have gone missing or is confirmed dead. Beyond even that, half of the survivors have shown evidence of being the victim of twisted, mad experimentation. Some of them are now fully Pokémon, whether they were transformed into one or were mind-swapped with one of their own Pokémon. Many others have been turned into half-Pokémon, half human creatures called Pokémorphs. And the experimentations have gone even beyond that madness. Some of these victims have been force-evolved into Pokémon forms that shouldn't even exist, while others have been turned into a creature of multiple Pokémon combined together. Growth mutagens, contagions, and other macabre supplemental experimentation have been confirmed as well. It seems as the days go on, the results are getting worse and more monstrous.

No one knows all the details about EXTOL, but if insane research like this were to be leaked or even sold, it would have extremely deadly consequences and would threaten the world. As a survivor, somehow, you need to fight back and escape. So far, no one living has managed to escape from the island, but somehow you need to make it to Hoenn. But you also need evidence. Making it to Hoenn alone won't be enough unless they are convinced there is a real problem and they have enough intel to make an emergency response. Some of the victims, however, worry as to what kind of response that might entail. Already tensions have begun to arise between victims that are convinced they would be euthanized by military intervention and those seeking rescue.

WHAT IS KNOWN

  • Witnesses and victims of the experimentation have reported there are multiple secret facilities on the island dedicated to the unethical testing, and it can be easily assumed many are still there. Those that survive are only released for further testing later and to monitor their activity as a social experiment. Most of these survivors have implant trackers to monitor their behavior, vitals, and locations, so escaping for them will be significantly harder.
  • Of the three harbors that exist on the island, almost none of the ships that could make the trip to the Hoenn mainland are still operable. Those that attempted to escape using their Pokémon were also never heard from again. There also haven't been any reports of seeing EXTOL watercraft or aircraft. The only airport on the island has been shut down, and most of the planes there have been rendered inoperable.
  • EXTOL field operatives and scientists have been reported being seen with orange and black hazmat suits, military uniforms, and lab coats with a ❖-shaped EXTOL insignia on their uniforms, weaponry, and equipment. Most of them are wearing masks and other covering on their faces to avoid being seen. It is known that EXTOL has been refraining from using any of their chemical agents or experiments on each other, however.
  • Island Population situation:
    • ¼ of the island population has been confirmed dead.
    • ¼ of the island population has gone missing or has been captured. Chances are good these people will either soon be dead or will be mutated.
    • ¼ have been confirmed as mutated. This includes people that have been fully turned into Pokémon, transformed into Pokémorphs, or some other form of mutation. These afflicted creatures are capable of using Pokémon attacks and abilities.
    • ¼ are still humans that are accounted for. This statistic, however, is rapidly dropping.

WHAT ISN'T KNOWN

There are plenty of current mysteries regarding the situation. These are storyline basepoints that can be decided as the RP moves along.

  • No one knows most of the details about EXTOL, such as who their leader is, what their goals are, and what they plan on doing with the results of the live human and Pokémon experiments. No one really knows how exactly how many operatives and scientists are involved either, but there are clear indications there are at least a few thousand. Some suspect it may be a terrorist group, a paramilitary organization, or simply a highly-funded group of fanatics that promised power and survival to their sponsors while the rest of the world burns.
  • EXTOL technology seems to be extremely advanced and unlike any other. Case in point, most civilians would not know how to use it. Their firearms are protected with biometrics that only allow for authorized personnel to use them. So far, their equipment and personnel have been deceptive and make it appear that everything on Suncatcher Island is perfectly fine.
  • No one on Suncatcher Island is aware of what's going on in Hoenn or if anyone on the mainland has been notified yet. There are rumors that "some guy" might have made it, but there's no confirmation. Oddly enough, no one has arrived at the island either for quite some time now. No one is sure how EXTOL is handling this to ensure the island remains isolated from the outside world.
  • No one is currently aware of any means to reverse the effect of the mutagens. At the current moment, no one has been able to apprehend an EXTOL operative for questioning about this.

SUNCATCHER ISLAND MAP

Large locations are marked with a large dot while smaller locations and towns are marked with a small one. Locations marked in red are known EXTOL locations, although EXTOL operatives have spread to most of the other locations on the map.

CITY AREAS

Angel City - To the south, Angel City is one of the oldest and most historical cities on the island, but has still changed and kept up to date with technology and innovation, but many of the buildings are historical and cultural. St. Anne Seaport often the place where cruise ships arrive and there all kinds of boats to tour the island and other recreational vessels. Many sailboats, houseboats, and personal watercrafts can be seen in the harbor here as well.
CURRENT STATUS - Currently contested by the resistance movement and EXTOL, the stranded civilians are trying hard to keep a hold of Angel City and its major seaport, but at the moment, any ship that could have provided an escape from the island has been seized by EXTOL or destroyed. The stranded freight ships are too slow to make any kind of escape, and would either have to be extremely well-defended to have any kind of a chance to make it to the mainland. EXTOL would definitely not let any of these ships escape easily, and most of them have been disabled.

Dayside City - Dayside City is a modern, hip, and urbanized hotspot for tourist attractions, entertainment, souvenirs, gaming, gambling, and Pokémon battling tournaments. Most of the architecture is very modern and even cyberpunk in some regards with neon lights, futuristic designs, and concept construction. Anyone on vacation is bound to be drawn to spend a lot of money here.
CURRENT STATUS - Dayside is currently a warzone between EXTOL operatives and resisting civilians. A massive amount of people and Pokémon became afflicted here due to the dropped mutagens, and for the most part, the tests were successful and the mutations succeeded with little to no side-effects in terms of physical or mental trauma, besides the shock of the transformations. EXTOL has been trying to capture these mutated survivors to experiment further, but resistance has been heavy and the mutated victims have no intention of letting EXTOL do even more damage.

Highloft - Highloft is a city mainly for resident locals that want a place away from the tourist attractions and fanfare. Unlike the other major cities of Suncatcher Island, Highloft is away from the beaches and mostly has rocky coasts. Like Angel City, Highloft is an older city that also offers many historical sights, but is usually not the first place tourists seek out to explore. Within the city itself, Fairchild Seaport is the oldest and largest commercial seaport and is mainly where most of the island's ship-carried imports come from. The dockyards here are mostly filled with shipping crates, shipping containers, and large freight carriers. Meanwhile, large cranes, warehouses, and dockyards are present as well.
CURRENT STATUS - While most places in Highloft are without power, save for ones that have generators, generally not too much damage has been done to the locals, although they have been trying to seek outside help, but their radio frequencies have been intercepted and hijacked by EXTOL's operative. Meanwhile, the stranded freight ships are too slow to make any kind of escape, and would either have to be extremely well-defended to have any kind of a chance to make it to the mainland. EXTOL would definitely not let any of these ships escape easily, and most of them have been disabled.

RESORT AREAS

The Golden Hibiscus Resort - This upscale, 4-star resort sports a Hawaiian theme and has plenty of facilities and activities including scuba diving, sailing, sandy beaches, fishing, three restaurants, three pools, tennis courts, a golf course, an onsite Pokémon Center, two Pokémon battling arenas, and 300 rooms all with free Wi-Fi. The Golden Hibiscus is one of the highest-rated and most popular resorts on Suncatcher Island and uses a Bellossom named Jubilee as its promotional mascot.
CURRENT STATUS - Only lightly damaged from the attacks, EXTOL operations struck hard on this resort, but the mutagens deployed where mainly non-lethal ones that ended up mutating and transforming most of the occupants. Some of the afflicted were captured, but for the most part, the resistance movement has managed to keep EXTOL operations from apprehending any more victims. It is unlikely they will be able to hold out for long, however.

Sunrise Eve Resort - Slightly smaller than the Golden Hibiscus, this Japanese-themed 250 room resort features a serine beach, two pools, two restaurants, and many other onsite activities including a Pokémon battling arena and Pokémon Center. Many of the buildings have a pagoda-style architecture style while tranquil lakes, gardens, and flowerbeds are scattered throughout the resort.
CURRENT STATUS - Damage to the resort facilities has been minimal, but this resort was one of the first places that were hit the hardest by EXTOL, and it was confirmed that most of the mutagen gases that were deployed on this resort were in fact very fatal. Not too many unaffected individuals are still here besides twisted corpses of a failed experimental mutagen. Many of the toxic mutagen fumes are still present, and it is extremely risky to go here without some kind of protection. Meanwhile, plenty of EXTOL operatives are still in the area looking for stragglers and are conducting research, collecting data, and gathering samples from the deadly results of the mutagen deployment.

Sea Breeze Resort - The smallest of the three resorts, Sea Breeze is a 180 room resort with two pools (one outdoor, one indoor), gym, one restaurant, sandy beaches, a Pokémon Center, a Pokémon battling arena, and sailing. For the most part, Sea Breeze is mainly a modern resort without much of a theme, but it is appreciate for those looking for a smaller, quieter, cheaper resort as opposed to the more expensive ones up north.
CURRENT STATUS - This resort has only seen minimal involvement from the EXTOL strikes, and has become somewhat of a fortified haven for humans and a few of the afflicted mutants. Currently, this resort is trying to get electronic communications back online, but most of their attempts have only met with failure.

UTILITY AREAS

Fisher Desalination Plant - This plant provides most of the drinking and bathing water for the entire island, although smaller plants exist in some of the major cities. Most of the equipment is very modern and is able to keep up with the population growth of the island over the years, but usually only the locals see and work at this plant.
CURRENT STATUS - This plant has faced only minimal harassment from EXTOL and still largely remains in control of the locals, as controlling the island's water supply isn't as high of a priority for EXTOL as keeping control of some of the other major utility areas on the island.

Jukon Power Plant - The Jukon Power Plant is the only power plant on the island, able to provide enough electric power for the entire island to function. This fusion power plant is able to provide clean energy with no environment risk. The site is typically not seen by visitors on vacation and mainly employs local workers and transfers.
CURRENT STATUS - EXTOL fully controls the Jukon Power Plant, and they have taken most locations except their own off the power grid. The plant is heavily guarded by EXTOL operatives, as losing the plant could compromise their operations significantly.

Suncatcher International Airport - As the only airport on the island, this airport is the way most tourists come in and head back home, although there are plenty of visitors that arrive by cruise ship as well. On a normal day, typically thirty commercial flights will depart and arrive.
CURRENT STATUS - EXTOL operatives have full control over the airport, and no planes are able to depart. A few flights are still arriving, but as soon as they land, EXTOL seizes the plane and all passengers on board. No one besides EXTOL has managed to figure out what becomes of them.

MILITARY AREAS

Farwind Naval Base - As the main naval base of Suncatcher Island, Farwind is in the northwestern coast of Suncatcher island, also away from the tourist attractions. Farwind is also under the ownership of the Hoenn Navy, and houses several battleships, submarines, cruisers, destroyers, and a single aircraft carrier.
CURRENT STATUS - This naval base was an absolute priority one for EXTOL to wipe out first before any radio communications were sent out. EXTOL didn't even use experimental mutagens, they simply killed off almost every naval soldier, officer, and Pokémon in the immediate area before any of them could raise an alarm. EXTOL then purged the lethal gasses, disposed of the bodies, and assimilated the position of the Hoenn Navy. So far, it seems their plan has worked. At the current moment, the Hoenn Navy hasn't suspected something went wrong. In the meantime, EXTOL maintains adamant control over the naval base and ensures no one even gets close to it.

Karn Airforce Base - Home to just a small portion of the Hoenn Air Force, this base houses plenty of military combat planes and helicopter as well as training facilities, hangars, barracks, and housing for Hoenn's combat pilots and their families.
CURRENT STATUS - Like the Farwind Naval Base, Karn was one of the first targets attacked in order for EXTOL to disarm all of Suncatcher's military outposts. After assimilating the Hoenn Air Force, EXTOL has been using their planes and helicopters to make sure no one tries to leave the island or interfere with their operations.

KNOWN EXTOL LOCATIONS

These locations are marked in red on the map. These are the only known EXTOL locations. There are several others that have not be discovered, reported, and distributed among the resistance and the victims. At the current moment, the main base of operations for EXTOL has not been discovered.

EXTOL Weapon and Bunker Base - Only a few have been able to scout this location, but it is known that this is a major weapon hold and area where EXTOL's operatives have been staying. Not too many resistance members have been able to scout it, but it is known that a major EXTOL operation is located here.

Western EXTOL Labs - This is one of the many EXTOL labs that are on the island, but this one remains as the only one that has been found and charted. Several victims that have undergone mutations and transformations can all attest that a major EXTOL laboratory operation is within this forest. Many of these victims can also attest that these labs are still holding hundreds of humans and mutated victims for future experiments. Time is rapidly running out for them second by second.

EXTOL Naval Base - A small and concealed EXTOL naval base was found by one Hoenn Air Force pilot who was attempting to escape the siege that befell the Karn Base. After being nearly spotted, he turned back and managed to turn his way back to Pascal Town after walking for several days trying to escape EXTOL surveillance. Not much is known about this naval base, but rumor has it that it was originally a forgotten historical naval base that was repurposed for EXTOL's intentions.

I'ma Totally join this.

Name: Gelius "Slash" Jade Parker
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Description: Gelius is a 5 feet and 11.65 inches teenager with light skin, not so tanned neither not so pale. He has brownish hair, and Jade colored eyes. His hair has an explosive and messy look. Gelius has Sneasel claws instead of hands, as it is visible when the arm gets near the hands, fur is visible. Both ears are also from a Sneasel, being the red one larger. He has 4 sharp canines on his teeth. He was also Mutated with a Flygon, giving its wings and a tail to him (It is visible a color change to light brown to a light greenish skin, since it's near the tail and the wings.).

His wearings are a pair of blue Jeans (Ripped off on the tail zone), a pair of Black Tennis shoes, a Black Hat on the head (it is like riley's hat), a jade green shirt (Again, ripped of, so the wings could grow. They also ripped of his jacket.), a green jacket with black stripes and a hoodie, Go-Goggles and an Amulet that has a Feather on it.

Personality: A pretty much cold appearance. Gelius is a cold guy, switching his warming and friendly personality, to a cold and mysterious personality, after completing the mutation. A thing that was sure to remain on his personality, is that he is stubborn. Hates following the orders. A pure hate towards the people who enslave Pokemon and use them as tools/weapons. If someone can pull it, it is able to see his old self, but its a rare thing. Rarely speaks to anyone, except to people he think he could trust. Gelius can be seen sometimes as an Anti-Hero, follow his own rules, his own objectives, his own missions, making him sometimes seen as an Outlaw. His mind is a puzzle, full of plans. When in trouble, Gelius will try to fix things up without hesitating or panicking.

Background: Gelius was born from a rich woman, and a famous trainer in Jotho. Grew up happily, creating his first and old personality, an happy one, alongside his birth Pokémon, a Sneasel, and 4 brothers. His life was peaceful, and grew alongside friends. Trained and aimed to become a trainer like his father and brothers, Gelius caught a Trapinch causing troubles around the town, evolving twice several years later, and a Quilava, which still remained on it's second Evolution stage. When he turned 6, he and his friends promised that they would travel together. Once they turned 10, they leave together to become trainers, making Gelius follow his brothers' steps, which they followed his father's steps.

Several years later, when Gelius was 14, after finishing his League Challange, only to find out that it turned out a failure when all of them were disqualified on the preliminary rounds, he gets to share an apartment with his friends on Hoenn, sharing it with Maya, Gavin, Gordon, Oliver, Lilly and Olivia. Gelius never needed a job, since his parents always sent money to him.

At the age of 17, he and his friends decide to take on a vacation on Suncatcher Island for 2 weeks. Everything was fine, until EXTOL took Gelius and his friends, as well as the pokemon. Making experiences with the DNA of his Sneasel and Flygon, not wanting to use the Quilava on Gelius, they made Gelius to morph on an Half Human, Half Sneasel and Half Flygon creature. His friends were also captured. Maya was used for experiments too, Giving her the Genes of a Gardevoir, giving her a long green hair and that red part on her chest, as well as the ability to teleport around, taking also the Genes of Gelius' Quilava, having the ability of creating flames from her back, and giving her the Quilava ears. Gavin got a Pikachu Tail and ears himself, and the "Feather hair" of a Blaziken. Olivia got herself Loppuny ears and tail, as well as some fluffy parts around her body. She also has a bit of Gelius' Sneasel DNA, so she has a sharp teeth and claws on her hands. Oliver himself swapped his mind with his Lombre, so his body has Lombre's mind, and Oliver controls his Body like a pokemon. Gordon and Lilly died on the experiments, not handling the mutation, they ended up getting weak, and passing away, not resisting the chemicals. due to both being dead, their pokemon died too. After the experimentation, they set the surviving group of friends free, and returning their pokemon back, but EXTOL only set them free to see if they would survive and test them, and possibly waiting they create havoc with their pokemon. After that, Maya returned Qulava to Gelius, and now they are hiding on Sea Breeze Resort, with a Resistance Group.

No need to limit the moves, I'm definitely not that particular! Anyway, your sign up rocks, ACCEPTED and ready to roll.

Name: Brian Domino
Gender: Male
Age: 29

Description: Standing 6'3", Brian has a tan skin tone and a light, athletic frame. Meanwhile, he has long brown hair with brown eyes and a casual and usually smirking expression. He has a few trivial scars, but nothing that would raise an eyebrow. He also has a few tribal tattoos on his lower arms and around his neck.

For clothing, Brian wears a black tank top and gray cargo pants. He also has a black leather belt, white and black sneakers, and a sports watch on his wrist. Usually he wears a black cadet's cap on his head.

Brian's main forte is his speed, agility, acrobatics, and his keen eyesight and perceptive nature. He isn't a big, heavy brawler and he tends to get an unlucky hand despite his love to take wild risks, but he rolls with it and has a way of improvising that makes mistakes and mishaps almost seem intentional. At the current moment, he hasn't undergone any kinds of mutations or transformations.

Personality: Mainly indifferent to most strangers, Brian is a wild child that honestly loves getting into trouble and isn't afraid to try new things. He adores loud music, pyrotechnics, playing guitar, speed, stunts, and dares, and has lost five jobs because of his reckless love for these things, even on the job. He never listens to authority, has gotten more speeding tickets than he can count on his fingers, and has been handcuffed enough times that he knows how to work his way out of them. He's also been in the hospital three times.

Some might call him stupid with the kinds of things he does, but he's out to have fun and a good time whether people like it or not. He's not one to think about consequences and what might go wrong.

With regards to the recent situation on Suncatcher Island, Brian isn't too worried, but he really would like to try and get the hell off the island. The fact he is still human is a surprise. The other issue he's facing is he originally came to Suncatcher Island with his girlfriend Karen as a vacation trip. During the chaos and the bedlam, the two became separated and now Brian has no idea where she is. He's out to try and find her before he leaves, if possible.

Background: As a child, Brian was a reckless daredevil, and cared nothing about school. Coming from a reckless family that lived in Olivine City that had a history of getting into trouble with selling counterfeit merchandise, fake document and ID card creating, and computer hacking, Brian wasn't too worried about not having much success in school, especially with the subjects he couldn't possible care less about. In the meantime, Pokémon battling to him was just wild, carefree fun and he didn't care about badges. He never even came close to entering into the league, constantly losing and misplacing badges to the point where he gave up with them.

Brian never completed high school and managed to make enough money doing dishonest work anyway. He was good at creating fake documents, thinking the government had a stupid system of bureaucracy anyway and he liked to undermine it. It wasn't long until he met Karen, who needed a fake ID for purchasing alcohol. They fell in love and enjoyed doing many reckless things together, which ultimately resulted in two wrecked cars, three incidents of what would have been considered destruction of property if they had gotten caught, and evading the police.

They decided to go to Suncatcher Island and stay at the Sunset Beach Hotel, which was much cheaper than one of the resorts. Unlike the other locations on the island, it wasn't hit hard by the EXTOL chemical agents, but there was enough hysteria going on that Brian lost Karen in the crowds and wasn't able to find her again. He's not too worried about her, convinced she's bound to be somewhere close by. Still, he figures it might be a while before anyone finds a way off the island anyway, so he'll look for her in the meantime.

Pokémon: Floatzel, Whimsicott, Ampharos

Well, this all seems... horrible. Count me in! Let's see if we can all survive the wasteland, shall we?

Name: Candall

Gender: None

Age: < 3 days

Description: In its true form, Candall appears to be a puddle of lime-green goo, about 10 feet in diameter and 6 inches thick. A human skull rests in the center, stained green by the goo that covers it. With effort, it can shape its body into a more humanoid form. In this shape, it stands roughly 5' 6", with a fairly bulky body, though it can subtly alter its height and build. It has no features, such as eyes, hair, or muscle, but the skull in its body moves to the "head" area.

Although it doesn't need clothing (as it has no anatomy to cover, and its body is resilient enough to survive exposure), Candall seeks to emulate the humans around it by covering its body. Due to its amorphous nature, any clothing will fit, but it prefers more concealing clothes. Currently, it wears a gray hoodie, black sweatpants, brown hiking boots, and a white Kabuki mask. It dresses like this to draw attention away from its gelatinous form, but such all-encompassing clothes tend to make it stand out on the tropical island. It cannot wear clothes in its true form.

Personality: Candall is normally calm and quiet, especially when alone. Its primary motivators are curiosity and hunger. Its acidic body can dissolve and draw sustenance from nearly any organic material, including plants, meats, clothing, leather, or even rocks (but oddly, not the skull contained within it). As such, it is always hungry, but rarely far from food, so it tends to wander away at times, only to return after "eating".

As it is technically a newborn, it is always learning, trying to find its place in the world, or to find the meaning of things. To help make sense of things, it tends to mimic those around it. It celebrates when around joy, sulks when near sadness, and responds to anger with aggression. In fact, it tends to be rather impulsive, often letting its emotions get the better of it.

When in an environment of subdued or mixed emotions, it is calm, but friendly. It seems to enjoy helping others or making them happy, and becomes irritated when others are hurt.

Background: For her 21st birthday, Sharon Cassidy (Cass to her friends) received plane tickets to Suncatcher Island, along with reservations for the Sunrise Eve Hotel. Cass hit the beach, went to the restaurants, and spent far more than she should have at various stores and attractions. She even found a delightfully bizarre gift shop in Dayside where she met a new friend, who happened to work there.

Randall Briggs had often spent his summers on Suncatcher Island working at the Mystery Hut, the gift shop owned by his eccentric uncle. Now that he had completed his final year of college, his uncle informed Randall that he would be inheriting the shop, and would be promoted to manager. Randall's day got even better when he befriended a cute girl at the shop, who agreed to go on a date with him.

Cass and Randall's date ended at the Sunset Eve restaurant, unfortunately during the EXTOL attack. The restaurant was filled with a chemical designed to heighten aggression and remove inhibition, resulting in the patrons turning on one another and violently attacking each other. Randall and Cass were prevented from killing each other by the intervention of her Reuniclus, who managed to resist the chemical. Due to a garbled radio signal, a second chemical attack targeted the restaurant, this one a corrosive cloud that was supposed to dissolve structural supports. The cloud ended up dissolving people as well, and Randall, Cass, and Reuniclus were reduced to a pile of ooze, with only a single skull left to identify the material as having once been human.

Nine hours later, the ooze began moving. It moved directly toward sources of food, picking up and dissolving any organic material in its path. As it did, a consciousness began to form. It had no memory, no idea who or what it was, but a library of subconscious thought. It could understand words, move on its own, even attempt to communicate. The first attempt at communication didn't go well, as the frightened human fled from the moving puddle of green Jell-o sliding toward him. It quickly adapted, taking on a humanoid form, and the next human it found was more receptive.

The human was an EXTOL scientist, and attempted to restrain the ooze for further study. This triggered an aggressive response, and the ooze fought back, dissolving the scientist's hazmat suit and forcing him to retreat or risk contamination. Deducing that humans found it visually repulsive, the ooze sought out a disguise, as it felt it belonged with them, even if they didn't want it. It raided the damaged hotel, acquiring clothing and consuming food as it went. Some brief memories were beginning to unlock, and it combined those snippets of information to give itself an identity:

"Weeee... Aaarrrre... Ca~a~andall..."

Pokémon: Nope

Other: Its ability to shape its body and even talk (despite lacking lungs, vocal chords, or even a mouth) may imply some degree of psychic ability, perhaps even a Psychic type. Its acidic body breaks down organic material and chemicals, making it resistant or possibly immune to further mutation. This acid and immunity to chemicals would imply a Poison type.

Well, its been a few days since I said I was going to sign up, but oh well.

Name: Shaylee Thompson
Gender: Female
Age: 23

Description: Shaylee before any of the experimentation of Extol resembled a short woman, standing only at about 5'5", but made up for her stature with the well toned muscular physique that one would expect of someone in military service. While most of her recognizable features have been skewed beyond any recognition between horrible burns and experimentation, that basic physique remains, the short muscular woman. The rest of her body has been charred black and grey, the result of a near miss involving some poorly mixed chemicals and open flames. In an extremely unfortunate run of luck, after being burned an Extol scientist found her and decided to conduct a few side experiments, fusing her DNA with that of her own Emolga and a Torkoal.

The result of the genetic mutations was obsidian black and grey plates of rock covering most of her body with faint lines of fire and magma glowing through the slight gaps. The plate-like armor does indeed seem to act like armor, the thick rock seeming to even be able to deflect bullets, although said projectiles do chip and crack her stone carapace. She also sheds her plate armor every few days, new fresh sections taking the place of those that have become chipped or damaged. In addition she has wing suit like flaps which extend from her arms and legs. Based on her appearance one would think flight would be impossible, considering the several hundred pounds of rock and magma which make up her being. However her body is light than it appears, perhaps only a couple hundred pounds, and the heat generated from her body provides an updraft which allows her to glide more easily. Outright flight however, remains impossible to her. The flaps are naturally a yellow color, similar to that of her Emolga. However they seem to display the ability of active camouflage, although Shaylee herself is quite helpless at controlling when the flaps will or will not blend in with their background. The camouflage also extends to and across her back, allowing her to blend in with her surroundings provided that she is face down and does not move. The camouflage copies basic colors, shapes, and patterns, but is unable to mirror anything complex.

Personality: Shaylee used to be your typical army grunt. Ambitious and hard working, respects and obeys authority without question, driven and ambitious. She demands nothing but perfection from those under her, and strives for perfection herself when on the job. Despite what might seem like a hard uncompromising demeanor on the outside, she is actually quite fun loving. Her daredevil attitude is what drove her to the air force, and her refusal to take any crap about her appearance or sex won her respect among her squad mates, although a few bruised guts and black eyes helped in that matter. She always sought perfection out of herself, even when off duty. And so she won respect being capable of knocking most of the men on the base out in friendly boxing matches, and was capable of drinking all challengers under the table.

The experimentation on her left not many initially apparent changes to her personality, but changes were indeed there under the surface. She used to trust almost anyone. Not because she thought that she could trust them all, but she was confident that she would be capable of knocking them on their a** if they crossed her somehow. Now she second guesses almost everyone she meets, cautious of dubious intentions. She also now feels very self conscious about her appearance. Previously she took great pride in her appearance, especially her golden blond curly hair which she had fought so hard to keep at shoulder length instead of a buzzcut, and now she thinks of herself as a freak of nature. She still keeps her gung-ho bravado about her, although in truth its more like a persona she wears rather than how she really feels now, alone, confused, and betrayed. Finally, she now looses her temper quite easily, almost as if the fire pokemon DNA created an emotional volcano that would blow its top when aggravated.

Background: Shaylee neglected on going on her own adventure when she turned ten, rather spending her days working on the farm with her dad, along with her one pokemon, Emolga. As she grew along with her pokemon she began to dream about her future. Her father hadn't forbidden her from leaving the farm and moving on with her own life, but she loved her father and stuck around to help him with the farm work that she knew he wouldn't be able to do for much longer. Sure enough when she was eighteen, her father collapsed of a heart attack on one sunny summer day, and died on the way to the hospital. Not knowing what to do and unable to manage the farm herself, she sold the farm and moved into the city of Goldenrod, hoping to make her way there.

Money soon ran out though, as the farm did not pitch as good a price as she had hoped, and she became desperate even to feed herself. Not knowing what else to do and running out of options, the opted to sign up at the military recruiting office in town. Within a couple weeks she found herself in a the Hoenn Air Force Academy, and life started to look up for her. The strong build that she had gained when working on the farm led to her excelling in physical excersizes, and she found that she had a knack for the intellectual side of the school as well. Within four years she was at the top of her class and was looking forward to a bright future, when she found herself passed up by politicians children as well as the kids of prominent military officials or others with strings to pull. She found herself landing on the Suncatcher Island Farwind Naval Base, an honor she was assured, to be serving in such an important location. But in truth it was where they sent all those that they deemed troublemakers. Although her marks were at the top of the class, she did not have a spotless reputation, getting in fights and over drinking being two of her offenses.

Despite that, she made the best of her situation, finding herself flying patrol helicopters along with her squad built of similarly determined troublemakers, although all of them completely competent and skilled at their jobs. She had been on the island for a full year when Extol hit, although she was actually on shore leave when Extol hit the military base. She had been shopping in one of the major tourist hubs when the terrorists dropped their chemical bombs. Two different bombs hit quite close to her, and the chemicals mixed making a bizarre concoction of purple smoke. To make matters worse, some poor sap had a lighted cigarette in his mouth, and the two combined gasses instantly combusted burning alive anyone caught in the gasses. Shaylee was only saved by a stroke of luck, when a fire extinguisher on the wall ruptured and exploded, spewing its foam retardant contents across the area. Although alive, her skin and clothing were badly charred, all her hair burned away, and would have died had not an Extol scientist wandered by when searching for survivors.

Thinking that the scientist was there to help, she croaked out a groan from her seared lungs, but later wished that she had not. The scientist, after searching her mostly burned belongings, found half of her military ID card. They had been ordered to kill all military personnel, but he instead decided to conduct his own side experiments on her in his lab, leaving her identity as military secret. After all, he supposed, it wasn't like she was going to escape or anything. But escape she did, after being mutated with the DNA of a Torkoal and her own Emolga, killing both pokemon in the process. The Torkoal DNA repaired her seared insides and replaced them with flowing magma in place of organs, and the Emolga DNA created almost wing-suit like flaps attached between her arms and legs.

After she regained consciousness and she realized her situation, her temper blew when the scientist insisted on performing more experiments on the now conscious Shaylee. With one strike of her fist she killed the scientist and made her escape from his lab, apparently even kept secret from most of the rest of Extol. That done, she escaped into the tropical jungle and sought out other friendly civilization.

Pokémon: None, her only Pokemon was killed in experimentation.

Other: Despite having an electric pokemon's DNA, she is unable to learn any electric type moves. Additionally, she is deathly terrified of water as it cools and hardens her skin, and could kill her if she is not careful, as she learned after a couple of tropical rainstorms.

Name: Claus Thantos
Gender: Male
Age: 21

Description: Claus stands at about 6 feet 3 inches tall. He has a typical white skin complexion, white hair that goes about an inch over his shoulders. He is rather fit with a strong build, and is almost always seen with a serious look on his face.

Claus is most commonly seen wearing black. He wears a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, he even wears a black trench coat. However, he has a gold pendant around his neck that shows a picture of himself and a close friend of his from when they were teenagers. Due to exposure to chemical elements in the air, he's gone through a couple of mutations, turning his once crimson red eyes to light blue, like a Zoroark's, and his arms are now covered in black fur up to the shoulders with red claws coming from his hands. These mutations not only drastically increase his physical strength, but also allow him to use the move Night Daze by slamming one or both of his fists into the ground.

Personality: Claus comes off as a dark and brooding individual. He tends to distance himself from others and always appears to have something on his mind. However, he keeps to himself and isn't one to talk about his past or how he feels.

When meeting someone else for the first time, Claus starts of a bit cold and serious. He's not one to make small talk and prefers to get straight to the point in a serious discussion, and can be quick to anger when it comes to certain circumstances. If someone tries to talk to him he can remain calm and give straight answers for certain topics, but as he's made to talk about more personal subjects he can become flustered and frustrated if he doesn't know or trust the person he's talking to very well. Despite his cold disposition, he can be kind to others and opens up better to those he trusts. He feels burdened by his actions in the past and believes that helping those in need is his way to find redemption, even if it's at great personal risk. When it comes to Pokemon, he care about his own Pokemon greatly, but will treat other Pokemon like he would a person and help them should they need his help.

History: Claus was born in Celestic Town, Sinnoh. Throughout his life, he almost always went unnoticed by his peers and simply never took many opportunities to communicate with others. The closest thing he had to a friend throughout his childhood was the family Pokemon, a Murkrow.

Once he had become about 8 years old, his life took a turn for the worst. One night, a burglar broke into his home, but was caught and, in his panic, set the house on fire. While Claus and Murkrow were able to get out of the burning house on time, his parents were killed in the fire. After that day, Claus lived the rest of his childhood days with his Grandparents, but the night of the fire still haunted him as a constant reminder of how suddenly his life could be taken away from him. He eventually began to blame himself for being too weak to stop the burglar, bringing him to believe that he had to be strong in order to not only to protect what mattered to him in the world, but to survive in it. With his new survival of the fittest beliefs set in stone, he began taking up martial arts as a first step in gaining power he felt would help him survive.

At age 13, Claus set out to become a Pokemon Trainer, taking Murkrow with him as his starter. However, in his bit to become stronger he had high standards for the Pokemon he had caught that would lead him to release most of the Pokemon that failed to meet his expectations. As he did this more however he slowly began to feel a certain guilt towards this practice, leading him to feel held back with remorse even when he had caught several strong Pokemon. One day he got caught up in a storm at Ilex Forest in the Johto region where a lightning bolt struck a nearby tree, starting a forest fire that nearly took his life. Having lost consciousness during the ordeal, Claus eventually woke up in a house where a met a girl named Luna, who managed to convince him to stay until his wounds healed. After staying with her for a while, Claus finally opened up to her about what he had done as a trainer, but also expressed his guilt over his past cruelty, to which Luna replied that if he's really sorry for the Pokemon he abandoned then he should act to redeem himself, something Claus took to heart.

Once Claus had recovered, he set out on his journey again, only this time Luna went with him and they traveled together for several years. One day however, Luna convinced Claus to go with her to Suncatcher Island in an effort to break him out of his antisocial tendencies and actually enjoy himself for once. While they were there the island was attacked, Claus and Luna became separated amidst the chaos, and to make matters worse Claus was exposed to a strange chemical mutating his body to have physcal traits similar to a Zoroark's. Now, Claus is forced to survive the madness he had now found himself in with two objectives in mind: Find Luna and get them both off the island.

Pokemon: Honchkrow, Salamence, and Lucario.

Other: Claus's mutations make him immune to Psychic type attacks, increase his strength beyond humanly possible levels and allow him to use certain Dark Type moves, namely Night Slash, Dark Pulse, and Night Daze. He's also an expert martial artist thanks to years of training.

Short, sweet and to the point. Just like me. Please let me know what needs to be edited, it's getting close to a year I believe since I wrote one of these. Bit rusty.

Name: Matthew 'Shrike' Calhoun

Age: 24
Gender: Male
Nationality: Hoenn
Appearance:
Zp65W-k1zTvawFaB1Z5lFNAzoFDqZ0jDojfabY2zn7_4PA5goNACkcFVyo6n7hZraa1tFThKq7aZ8AeqIqjJp6h0suoRCKdUZcpnXAQ6a7Vqe_2sUFeSUtPVORX7sD0wgy5-YZ4

copyright: Alex Jessup

Matthew stands at a perfect 6'0" and has an average frame. He is slightly muscular. He has a short beard and bright blue eyes. He has short cut brown hair but his beard looks a combination between brown and ginger.

For apparel, he wears the equipment he escaped the base in. He has flame resistant, quick dry pants of his uniform but was wearing a green T-shirt instead of the matching upper. Shrike did manage to grab his combat vest (as well as his rifle and sidearm with a few other goodies) giving him superb protection from projectiles as well as most pokemon attacks. He normally wears a baseball cap as well as a radio with ear protectors and combat shades, but also keeps a helmet and gas mask in his pack if needed. He always has a few things adorned to his equipment, para-cord around his neck, and a carabiner clipped to his vest.

Military Information:
National Armed Forces of Hoenn
77th Airborne, "Staraptors"
Sergeant
Squad Leader
Stationed at Karn AFB, Southeast Suncatcher Island

Personality: Matthew has always had a great sense of duty and honor no matter what. He used to have a fiery personality and was very friendly and pleasant to be around, but since the initial attacks he has been very depressed and quiet. He has always been a "put others before yourself" type of man which is why his inability to save his squad or anyone he was stationed with has caused him so much guilt, as well as the fear more will fall cause him stress." He has become cold and methodical in his guerrilla campaign against EXTOL forces and shows them no quarter nor mercy. Shrike desperately wishes to regroup with any survivors from the bases, and will go to any length to reunite or save them from EXTOL forces or facilities.

Backstory: Born in Lilycove of a Doctor and a Police officer, Matthew was taught from a young age the want to help others. He went to school and passed with great grades but the rest of his childhood was rather uneventful.

During his teenage years he had an intense want to aspire and do something meaningful. As soon as he was old enough he joined an internship style program at the police station where his father worked. He was only allowed to do menial things but sometimes his father would take him into the range when the station wasn't very populated and let him shoot at a couple targets. When he wasn't at his junior officer position he was at school or out with his friends. Matt's warm personality and friendly demeanor got him into a lot of social groups and plenty of friends to sit with at lunch.
As he grew older he decided he wanted to do more to help the world so instead of joining the Police force in town, he signed onto the National Armed Forces of Hoenn. He shipped off to boot camp soon later and performed remarkably well in shooting, tactics and operating under stress. He was transferred to Airborne training after Basic. He succeeded very well here as well, learning skills in parachuting with a lot of equipment, operating behind enemy lines, sabotage, and team tactics.

Matthew was assigned to the 77th Airborne division and saw operations against "Team Magma and Aqua" before being stationed at Karn Air Force Base on beautiful Suncatcher island. When he arrived his family scheduled a visit. He was overjoyed when his father gave him his service sidearm, a very expensive and rare Nighthawk Warhawk 1911. Soon after that he was promoted to Sergeant and was made a squad leader.

Life on the base remained boring for a while until one sunny day while relaxing in the barracks with his squad, the air raid sirens went off with the message "Attention all units, combat positions this is not a drill, repeat not a drill!" Everyone in the room sprung to their feet and headed for their gear when the outside went quiet, even the siren. All the men froze. After a couple minutes Matt walked over to the window. A soldier seemed to pop out of nowhere and started violently banging on the window yelling what sounded like "Let me in! Gas! Please! Don't let me die!" before he smashed through the window. Shrike started coughing violently before one of his squad-mates forced a gas mask on him. They all scaled the perimeter walls and ran into the forest but were stopped when EXTOL forces opened fire. Everyone was gunned down except for Calhoun who managed to slip around the hastily assembled perimeter and has been wandering the woods trying to reach Pascal town.
Equipment:

MDR-C

WarHawk 1911 *Don't touch!!!*

Gas Mask + Helmet

Other: Due to chemical exposure, he has a very bad cough that can take him out of a fight if he pushes himself too far or is too strenuous to his body.

Has Experience in CQC from being a para-trooper. Not as good at long range marksmanship, needs more practice.

Learned about traversing an environment more efficiently. Will take advantage of ledges, rooftops, and anything climbable to get from A to B.
