Appearance: His dry voice and oily looks don't make for good first impressions; his dirty, smelling fur makes things worse. The smell comes from his oil-dirty arms and belly, as he is clumsy when he's working and hygiene was never his top priority; his fur never seems to fall off, and instead grow endlessly. He thinks he'll be a perfect, round furball by the end of his life. When aboard his airship, he wears black-tinted goggles, tight-fitting, iron-knuckled black gloves made of his own fur and a belt with tools fastened around his waist; the tool-set includes a wrench, a screwdriver, a spanner/iron strut and a rubik's code (for when he's bored).

Zack hatched from his egg, disturbed by the constant sound of bells ringing. In Fargal Keep, they ring the bells for an entire day when it was time for war, or when a lord had died. At the time of his birth, the firstborn son of Lord Greyland, heir to his seat, succumbed to his illness. The religious lord was overcome with the madness of sorrow and decided that all newborn babies in the town would bring ill luck to the Keep, so he commanded they were taken away in the woods and left there for the wild Pokemon. The person the order was given to wasn't a cruel man, but he wasn't one to disobey either. He took young Zack from his family, without telling them a word of his plans. He sent the infant Elekid to Union City, where he was adopted by a poor family who loved him as much as they did their own, and chose to raise him knowing that he was adopted. Zack grew up with love there, without being able to fully understand what his parents meant when they said that he was not their child, although it was obvious, as none of them were Elekids.

In the early years of his childhood, as with most children in Union City, he gathered around a fire in the gardens, tended by members of the Gold Tribe, who shared their stories and adventures. One member of the brotherhood, recited the tale of the Lord who had gone mad with anguish over his son's death, so he send for his guardian, another member of the Gold Tribe, to take all the newborns of the town and to the woods for the wild Pokemon to feast. The man's title was Skylord, and while he was loyal to the lord he was charged with protecting, he took the newborns on his zeppelin and made a trip to Union City to find families to adopt them, without ever speaking a word. When the tale was finished, young Zack was bothered by something that he couldn't quite put his finger on. It was only after sometime that he realized he might be one of those children. He admired and looked up to Skylord, even though he didn't even know who he was; the next day, he asked around if people knew him. Nobody could say. He once went to the Gold Tribe's archives to look up for Skylord, but he never found any, and there was never any brother of the Gold Tribe assigned to guard Lord Greyland of Falgar Keep. Zack was thoroughly confused, but that didn't stop him from admiring the Gold Tribe and their selfless, heroic acts for the greater good. He aspired to join them, for a time, but his attention was drawn to other things after his evolution.

After his evolution, he became capable of helping the family financially. His adoptive father worked as a security guard in a workshop of the Company of Fuel & Techmaturgy, Flogistron. He always had a fascination with devices, tools and electricity, but when he was brought there to work as a guard, his excitement secretly bloomed. When the engineers were gone from the workshop for the night, he started working with tools on the devices overnight. The engineers returned in the morning to find their devices tinkered and perfected. This didn't keep up for long, as they set up a trap for Zack and caught him red handed. They took him to the CEO of Flogistron, Achilles Proudmoore (before the time Achilles became the Trade Prince); Achilles sent Zack away without punishing him, only asking him a few questions about his family. The next morning, Zack received a letter from him, stating Achilles's understanding of Zack's skill and the promise he saw in him, and disclosing that he was hired as assistant engineer in the workshop.

Zack's interest in machines bloomed even further when he was presented with a zeppelin in the workshop. He found out his fascination with flying machines needed to be taken care of, so he asked of Achilles to make him a zeppelin engineer, and so it happened. He was transferred to the White Citadel's zeppelin docks, where he checked, fixed and replaced engines. The money from his income was comforting, but not comforting enough; his adoptive father had grown too old to work and eventually passed away, so he had to support his mother and sister with only his wage, and at the end of every month, it just wasn't enough. That's when Achilles, now a Trade Prince, made another proposition that would change his life: join the Gold Tribe. The Crown would take care of his family financially, as he would be an honorable member of the brotherhood. He tried really hard to study for the ECUL while working as an engineer, but he failed his final exams. It was a bad time for the family, too, as his sister died of an illness, and his mother passed way. Zack was left alone in the world; Achilles saved him once again, arranging for him to work on the Stygian General's flagship, Storm's Fury. He served there for four years before the start of the second, most recent Stygian Rebellion.

During the battle of the Deathbringer's Mark, a few days apart from the present time of the RP, the captain of Storm's Fury fell overboard while the zeppelin was firing at enemy troops; ever since then, Zack took over as captain and managed to make the flagship be the only one of the Eshirian fleet to survive the battle (really, he was only running away). For his effort and accomplishments in the battlefield, he was allowed to join the Gold Tribe by Garland, the leader himself.

Zack is an egghead (literally, too), helpless geek and accomplished engineer who comes up with the craziest solutions for problems both real and imaginary. He is sentimental and cries or loses his temper when things go very wrong, but in the end of the day, he's content, as long as he has his tools around his belt. He is insecure, aware that his contribution to the Gold Tribe as an engineer is less than sufficing, though at times, he takes pride in his work. When pressured, he becomes anxious and starts to pace up and down while rubbing his hands together nervously and muttering his thoughts out loud. But the truth is, he likes danger and the thrill it brings. He has never been in many desperate or on-the-edge moments before; his life was a quiet one, and he craves for adventure. But when things get too dangerous, he suddenly becomes ill. Usually, it's the 'I'm too young to die' disease, which makes him run away.

Amongst the kids of Union City, he was the runt of the litter who was usually bullied for his geek-iness and love for mathematics. That forced him into becoming lonesome and friendless. But it also helped him develop quick temper and grow a reputation for getting back at his enemies with the most unexpected and mean ways. He has a sharp tongue and is capable of cruelty to those who cross him. From a young Elekid he had developed a fascination for tools and a love for tinkering and "techmaturgismatics" as he jokingly calls the devices made of the combination of the power of psychics and the mastery of technology. He showed great potential as a mechanic from an early age and chose to pursue that career first, before joining the Gold Tribe.

He is a fan of boxing and likes to beat up bad people, on occasion, though he's not the best fighter around. His intelligence is his greatest strength and his mind the most effective weapon. While he makes it his priority to help people in need and defend the weak, he also looks out for having fun. Casually, he's a carefree, cheerful and mellow lad who's eager to make new friends.

He sucks at history, but loves mathematics and chocolate moo-moo milk. The only piece of history Zack has been fascinated with is the legend of the Lost Nexus. He's vowed to fly all around Exathor in search for it. As for the mysterious member of the Gold Tribe who saved him when he was an infant, Skylord, he gave up searching for him.

Almost finished with my SU!! Just need to fill in an RP sample. Not sure if I'll take it from a previous RP or make a fresh one. Either way, I'll decide later on today/tomorrow.

Age: 23
Title: The "Flash"
Type Mastery: Fire
Nationality: Hesperian
Appearance: Noah is slightly larger than most than most typhlosion. Like the rest of his species however, he bears a lean-yet-bulky physique, that grants him both great agility and physical strength. His sharp red eyes and rigid dark-blue fur gives him a somewhat fierce appearance that betrays his outgoing nature. Noah isn't one to skimp out on grooming, his cream underside is always smooth and his coarse blue-black fur is usually free of debris. Noah usually has a pouch strapped around his waist filled with berries and snacks to keep his energy up during the day. His left forearm is always adorned by his golden armband; his Gold Tribe insignia.

Noah is a very bright and optimistic fellow who is almost always on the move. His analytic tendencies often clashes with his somewhat rash and impatient nature; often leaves him in a mess of moving on to things new things too quickly. This impatience is probably due to Noah's fascination with experiencing new things and coming up with new ideas. He also has a tendency to act without thinking at times and plan 'In-the-Now' rather than plan ahead. However this isn't a total bad thing, due to Noah's innate ability to quickly and accurately find and decipher solutions on the fly and in tight situations.

The Typhlosion is very adaptable in different environments and around different people, often striking up conversations before even confirming each others names. In conversation he's prone to say what is on his mind and be quite frank with little forethought. This may turn people away at the impression of him being rude or bad mannered when it's actually just Noah expressing himself in the only way he knows how. Although the Typhlosion likes to be around people and is social, he doesn't form very tight emotional bonds with people unless he views you as a reliable friend. This isn't to say he's is distrusting, but instead values true and long lasting companionship over a fleeting and unfamiliar acquaintance. Give Noah time to know you, endure his faults, and you'll be sure have a true friend for life. There's nothing this Volcano pokemon treasures more than his close friends.

In the workplace, the fire type is the first one to arrive, the first to finish, and the last to leave. Any task at hand is done as swiftly and thoroughly as possible so the next can be taken care of. Usually during the process he'll find out he skipped a step or missed a detail and hurry back to correct his mistake. When completely finished, Noah will usually wonder over to his co-workers and inspect their progress as well, usually directly stating his opinion based on his analysis(to the appreciation or annoyance of others). Whatever the situation, he'll always offer to lend a hand or give advice as he avidly believes 'Two heads are better than one'. However, in sticky situations Noah will often prove to be headstrong and not compliant when he strongly disagrees with orders given to him. Given a severe situation, he might even act on his own in the need to do what he feels is right. Place your hope on Noah to get the job done and he'll do so to the best of his ability. There are very few situations the Typhlosion can find himself in where he'll be uncomfortable or in lack of words on the matter. Likewise, there isn't a scenario where he'll have lost hope of a solution.

After the day is over or after a long hard amount of work is accomplished, Noah is liable to burn himself out if his friends fail to slow him down. He'll often take on loads or consecutive tasks without paying heed to his own stamina. When relaxing during his occasional down-time however, Noah will allow himself to mellow out for a bit. That is before getting impatient and rushing off to do whatever raced into his mind.

Noah's birth was thought by his parents to be a worst case scenario situation. Not only was he a runt, but the egg was laid two days before expected. They intended to head north from Lakeshire to find substantial work in Yagal Keep. However the egged hatch shortly after leaving the town of Lake Shire and they thought it too much a burden to keep the child. Thus, they abandoned the little cyndaquil, sending him down nearby river in a fruit filled basket instead of leaving him to wild pokemon as an act of decency. It was astounding how Noah had even survived the south flowing river as far as he did. All along the way the basket was prodded by water and fish pokemon, almost being swallowed hole a couple times. The young pokemon was equally lucky when a Swanna happen to be washing garnets in the very same river. Carefully plucking the soaking basket from the water to her astonishment finding the baby. Shocked yet relived the child wasn't sick or malnourished, just wet, she wrapped Noah up and took him back to her inn she owned in Lakeshire. From the moment she set eyes on the fire type, the Swanna viewed Noah as a 'miracle' rather than a 'misfortune".

Once in the embrace of the Swanna's wings, the cyndaquil started warming itself up with its internal flame surprisingly quickly. The Inn Keeper after fixing up a suitable meal, found it appropriate to name the child seeing as it was either orphaned and/or abandoned. The cyndaquil's miraculous journey across the waters of the river in the basket inspired the Swanna to name him Noah. Over the passing years, the nurturing bird raised Noah as her own and taught him all about Hysperian culture. The Cyndaquil from then on, he always had a sense of justice and urge to help others. Noah was always an asset to his adopted caretaker around the Inn and never bat an eye when anyone around town needed help. However, he was also a very wild and free-spirited child. No one would put it past him to get in trouble often. The fire type, true to his nature was always hyper, impatient, and headstrong. This didn't stop him from making friends however, as his childhood palls were always thrilled to play and spend time together.

Noah and the other children had grown up on stories of the Gold Tribe and their many accomplishments in history. Of course this naturally excited all the young-lings and caused them to rightfully admire the Gold Tribe. However Noah was absolutely enthralled by the Gold Tribe. Ever day was another chance to prove the world and himself he could be a strong and brave hero. He aimed to help as many people as possible, do as much work as he could, and make the best use of his time. He was often lectured by Swanna that he often pushed himself too hard and to slow down, but Noah had little time for that. When the fire pokemon began to mature a bit more and become used to his form as a quilava, he really began to test himself. If there was one talent Noah absolutely excelled at, it is wielding fire attacks. Everyday for hours at a time Noah would walk on the outskirts of town to where the rocky area and practice his fire techniques, always leaving the ground and boulders around him scorched(much to the shock of passerby travelers). He always aimed to perfect and magnify his prowess in any move he could think of. Flamethrower, flame charge, lava plume, eruption, etc., you name it and Noah has put in the hours to mastering those skills and even ones he discovered he inherited from his parents.

After a period of time, he felt he had a calling to finally become a Gold Tribe member and make a difference in the world. He explained his feeling to his feathered caretaker and she bared no objection. Just a proud smile. Waving goodbye to his hometown of Lake Shire, he made the journey north to Union city. After finally reaching his destination, the expansiveness and magnificence of the city astounded the volcano pokemon. Wasting no time, he applied for the Exathian College. Here a thrived. The wealth of knowledge placed before him in the expansive libraries and studies, fellow students, and a new sense of responsibility were the highlights of his experience. After successfully passing his ECUL exam, the Gold Tribe had taken note of his determination and combat prowess. They then requested and enlisted him as a member. With fiery passion, burning happiness, and towering pride, Noah accepted his new duties as a member of the Gold Tribe.

On his Nationality field, you have mistakenly put 'Stygian Tribe, from Skyhaven'. Skyhaven is in Hesperia, and in the region of Hesperia, there are no tribes. The only tribes are the Stygian ones, which live in their respective towns (just thought of clearing that up). I'm guessing from your history that he was born in Hesperia, Skyhaven, rather than in Stygia.

Yes you're right, I did mean to put Hesperia. That was a simple mistake is all.

The black magic bits are a reference to his Ghost type Mastery. Basically he uses many of his attacks like casting spells and invocations.

It was astounding that Jasper hadn't shaken himself apart. Ever since he got his group he had been unable to stop shivering with anxiety. Yes he was one of the more skilled mages when it came to Vita and Naturalis, but he also couldn't stand the pressure that he might mess up in his favorite subject. He didn't care half as much about combat or magical theory compared to this part. He would have been happy with a thirty three if it was because he aced this portion of the test.

It took Jasper slightly longer than normal to draw his runes since he had to stop to halt his quaking body. Even with his setback Jasper completed the circle. He knew it could have been better though. Muttering curses to himself Jasper turned to the instructor waiting to know what he'd have to summon. He knew what he'd do if it was up to him. His wolves would appear at a simple chant. A grin appeared on his face as he remembered his beasts. Alpha and Omega he called them. Alpha was the smaller wolf creature, and Omega was the giant monstrous canine.

'If only the test was as simple as sending those two out on a hunt' Jasper thought, 'They'd tear through anything in their way if I told them to.'

Jasper even began to chuckle as he envisioned the two monsters. They were the perfection of beauty to him: essence in a physical natural form. He never really told anyone his beliefs, but to him nature was far more important than anything else. Essence was natural, so anything unnatural is a corruption of essence and thusly a corruption of Femaga. Not to mention Jasper swore there were spirits in nature, and they acted like minor gods, but like anyone with idea contrary to the majority he feared saying what he felt. He began a silent heretical prayer to the spirits to help him.

Now somewhat calm Jasper, like any good hunter, surveyed his surroundings. There were five other students taking this part of the test with him. It seemed that the group had four girls, and two guys including him. Perhaps they had mistaken this for flower arrangement? Jasper chuckled at his crude humor. He wasn't sexist per say, but he hadn't met that many girls who were that in tune with the real possibilities of magic. The ones who really had a good grasp on the raw awesomeness of essence easily gained his respect. The same could be said for men, but most of them realized it was a great power that was given to them for use in great ways. Power, power was femaga's gift to the world, and then the world gave it to us. Anyone who did not use it to its fullest potential was a waste. Jasper even considered all his years prior to the academy as such. Ever since his other side began to develop he knew that magic, nature, and power were all that mattered. It was why he wouldn't lay the beast to rest. He needed the power. He almost enjoyed it. Jasper's eye stared off into the sky.

"One day. I won't need to deal with this beast. I'll be stronger than it. I'll be stronger than anyone." Jasper slowly whispered with his breathing.

Here's my sample SU:

Name: Reynold Drakonsmark.

Gender: Male.

Species: Dragonite.

Title: Typhoon.

Appearance:

The first thing that you'll realize when you see Reynold is that he's huge, even for a Dragonite. Standing at the height of eight feet, he can crush just about anything or anyone for the matter in his way. His limbs are huge allowing him to smash through things with ease and help him to jump extremely high into the air. However, being so big has it's problems. His wings are so tiny, that you can barely notice them on his body. He has lost the ability to fly due to these tiny wings and he has spent many a day cursing himself for having grown too large. His right eye is covered with a scratch enabling him to see with only the left eye. Besides numerous other scratches on his body, he looks like a normal Dragonite.

Aya, Akito and Dava vs Flannery!

Dava, Aya and Akito stood on the rocky floor in the big cave under Mt Chimney, pools of lava around them with Slugma creeping about and just ahead of them on some large rocks in the middle of it all: the former gym leader of Lavaridge Town, and one of her pokémon. Camerupt.

"Flannery!" Dava burst out with a relieved smile at last. "We're so glad to see you here! We only wanted to go down from the mountain without waiting forever for the cable car, but this cave only seems to lead deeper and deeper in under the mountain..."

The elite four member stepped down from the cliffs, coming closer to them, with a raised eyebrow. "You were heading through these caverns to get to Mauville?"

"Yes, exactly!"

"But the way you are going, you will end up north. Near the northern edge of the Desert."

The trainers looked at each other. Neither of them had really known which way the tunnel would lead; it had been a chance. Finding Flannery certainly was a streak of luck, then.

Flannery laughed and reached for a pokéball. Sending the Camerupt - who had been staring blankly at the three trainers - back into its pokéball, she finally walked up to the trio with a look that was growing increasinly mischievous.

Dava recognized it; that was how Dani looked now and then when she wanted to play a joke or use Dava in some way. And the reason Dava knew what that looked like was that she knew that she herself looked the exact same as her twin sister when she felt the same. Only, she actually went through with her deeds, as opposed to how Dani was too just and fair to play it dirty.

"I could help you out, of course," Flannery said, smiling deviously. "I know these tunnels well, and the Slugma are all my friends and wouldn't attack us. But... I'm actually down here to train, and I'm not really done yet. So if you want my help to get out, you need to help me train first. Battle me!"

Dava was surprised. Flannery was a member of the elite four! There was no way they were ready to battle her now. At least not she. She had hardly learned how to manuever a pokémon in a dirty battle as opposed to the sweet, careful showbattles of pokémon contests. Maybe Akito and Aya were more experienced though?

Aya couldn't help but notice her eyes widen at the challenge. Sure, she was confident in her abilities despite it being early days in her journey but she wasn't sure that even the three of them together could defeat Flannery. Any degree of success against such a skilled trainer though... would be such a huge boost at such an early point in my travels... and I can't exactly pass up a challenge like this.

"What are the conditions?" Aya asked cautiously, fighting back her excitement so she could keep a clear head. Flannery smiled, a vigorous air about her, before responding to the less experienced trainer.

"You each use one pokemon at the same time against one of mine"

Aya couldn't help but grin back slightly, she didn't think they could win but she would certainly try. "Fine by me, ready Ladon?"

"Axew!"

"What about you guys?"

Fight Flannery? Aw, come on! was the first thought that came in Akito's mind. Here was a Elite Four member and he was nothing but a novice trainer. He wasn't sure about Dava and Aya. But at the end of it they were not experienced trainers. Flannery on the other hand was an Elite Four member. He then thought. It would be an excellent opportunity to battle Flannery and improve his battling skills. It would help him later on when he challenged the Elite Four. Then he contemplated what pokemon he would send. Hercules would be weak against fire types, so he said "I'm in it. I'll be using Vulcan."

Vulcan poked his head out through Akito's head before realising that Akito had asked him to battle. He then came out and rubbed his leg on the ground threatening Flannery. "How sweet. I remember my Camerupt when he was a Numel." Flannery laughed. Vulcan then growled as he threatened to fry Flannery.

"What's your pokemon Dava?" questioned a very worried Akito. He didn't show any worry on his face but his limbs felt stiff.

"Aah... I'll..." Dava stuttered. She felt somewhat weak after seeing Aya accepting the challenge head on. Usually, Dava was the one to never back down. But this was kind of an unusual situation. She swallowed and put on a brave face. "Duke will do well," she said.

Her Geodude blinked and turned around to face Flannery, hovering closely above his trainer's head.

Flannery looked over the trio of beginners, the familiar sense of anticipation that came with every battle making her feel like leaping on the spot. Adrenaline coursed through her veins - sure it would probably be easy but the thrill of a battle was always the same... even if she would prefer it to be longer.

"Alright the, I'll use this guy then." Flannery tossed a pokeball int the air and in a flash of near-blinding white light a figure emerged. Far taller then any of the trainer is the room, sharp claws and red, yellow and cream coloured fur. A Blaziken, and it looked raring to go... albeit disappointed with its competition.

"Let's get right into this!" Flannery called, unaibale to fully hide her excitement "Blaze Kick on the geodude!"

Aya watched in awe as the tall bird-like pokemon leap for Duke from where it stood, preparing to slam one of its powerful legs (now engulfed in flames) into the small rock type. Dava gasped, not fully ready for the battle to start so abruptly. She had honestly thought that the stronger trainer would have let them have the first move. But apparently that wasn't Flannery's style.

As the mighty fire pokémon got closer though, the miliseconds passing, Aya snapped back from her watching, ready for the battle to come.

"Dual Chop!" she ordered, Ladon leaping to Duke's aid knocking the Blaziken to the side - where it landed on its feet - with apair of glowing blue chops from his tiny arms.

Dava turned to stare unappreciatively at Aya while Flannery raised an eyebrow. "You're actually going to work as a team? I'm impressed. Blaziken, use Mirror Move and give the little dragon a taste of its own medicine."

Not good... a super-effective attack like Dual Chop will easily take Ladon out

" Vulcan use Tackle." ordered Akito. The tiny fire type charged at Flannery's Blaziken. It managed to prevent Blaziken from attacking Ladon but the Blaziken was obviously unfazed.

Training with Slugma might be fun...... but there's always such an awesome feeling battling other people thought Flannery. Her heart was pounding fiercely while she debated what move she had to choose. "Blaziken, use Quick Attack on the Numel."

Before any of the other pokemon could block the attack Blaziken moved as fast as lightning and smashed Vulcan back. Akito grimaced. Vulcan was probably fine but that would have taken a large chunk of Vulcan's hitpoints.

Aya watched as in a flash of speed the Blaziken sent Vulcan reeling.
What can I do? I can't use Dual Chop unless it is distracted enough and Leer and Scratch will do even less damage...

Dava felt disoriented. Akito and Aya were sending out attacks and Flannery's eyes gleamed as if she was really enjoying their imminent defeat. No. She hadn't started this journey to lose battles, at least not without trying. Duke glanced back at her and she nodded. Time to become better than her twin sister.

"Come on then!" Flannery shouted at them, smiling. Blaziken took an imposing fighting stance and swayed slowly towards the poor Vulcan.

"Duke, Magnitude!"

Duke didn't hesitate; a shudder of power went through his body before he smashed down into the ground with both his fists, transferring the built up power to the earth below them. The stone floor between Dava and Flannery started cracking up, and all the trainers and pokémon felt the ground shaking slightly, accompanied by a low rumble from the cave.

Dava almost fell over from the rumbling; she hadn't counted on it affecting anything around them. When she looked up, she saw that Blaziken was in the air. It had jumped up and avoided the attack, and was hovering almost gracefully as if defying gravity above their heads now. At least it felt that way to the onlooker, while in reality it was only there for a few seconds. Then came Flannery's next command.

"Blaze Kick on Geodude!"

The leg flared up. Dava's brain went into hyper mode. What could she do? What could hit it while it was in the... air...

"Rock Throw!" she called out. But Blaziken had jumped back up into the air already, maybe to avoid another Magnitude counter attack. If nothing else attacked it now when it was distracted by Duke, her rock pokémon would take serious damage. Type resistance didn't mean much when facing an opponent of such immense power.

If there was one thing you could say about Aya, it might be that she knew an opportunity when she saw one. "Dual Chop Ladon!"

The axew leapt into the air, tiny hands glowing a bright blue as he shot toward's Duke's aid. Ladon swung it's left arm first hitting the fearsome blaziken and causing it to lose it's balance in the air. With a crashing noise, the flaming foot of Flannery's pokemon slammed into the ground just before Duke, leaving an deep hole that is was now pulling it's leg from. Ladon then slammed the head of his larger opponent, disorienting him further as Ladon landed.

Dava didn't stare in a bad way towards Aya now. She suddenly felt like she realized what they were doing, what she was doing here. They weren't just showing off for a member of the Elite 4. They were cooperating. Aya wasn't mean when she made the Axew save Duke from getting crushed, as much as Dava would have liked to think so. She couldn't think so anymore. They were in this together.

"Now Jump up again, quickly!" Aya added, Ladon obeying without question.

One of you guys take the opportunity! Aya found herself hoping desperatly. Flannery merely looked amused.

"Flame Charge!" Flannery called. As a torrent of fire engulfed her blaziken cracks began to move from the hole it was now stuck in - and quickly.

"Hurry!" Aya yelled, not sure if she was talking to Dava or Akito.

If I don't act fast then Ladon's going to faint................. a thougt came into Akito's mind. Okay, Ladon's in mid air and that Blaziken's in the ground.

Dava reacted surprisingly fast too. The two trainers called out in choir:

"Vulcan use Magnitude!"

"Duke, Magnitude!"

The Numel's eyes glowed white. An aura surrounded him as he smashed the ground with his foot, right about when the Geodude's fists slammed into the ground once more. A miniature earthquake shook the battlefield and the Blaziken became distracted. So the fire around it disappeared but the Blaziken got out of the hole it was stuck in.

"Blaze Kick." Flannery called cooly.

An inferno of flame seemed to engulf the Blaziken's right leg. It was only a few seconds till that kick struck Vulcan and that would probably be Vulcan's last hit in the battle. There was no time to use Magnitude and Tackle and Growl would probably prove to be futile. Akito closed his eyes and hoped that Ladon would use Dual Chop and break Blaziken's leg bone or something.

"How did that not work!" Aya felt quite helpless as Flannery's blaziken launched itself back at Vulcan. She was forced to think quickly, but the only idea she had was going to take too long.

"Sorry, Vulcan will have to take the hit." she then turned to Dava. "Get Duke to throw Ladon at Blaziken. Duke's strong so this should work out okay."

"Throw him? Right at the enemy? He'll be engulfed!" Dava protested wildly.

Please listen to me Dava, just once, Aya begged desperately inside her head, opening her mouth to voice it, even though she knew they had no time to argue.

Seriously. Just then a crazy idea came into Akito's mind.

"This may sound absurd but Vulcan use Growl!" Vulcan stared at Akito for a second before letting out a cry that would have made an Exploud proud. The Blaziken distracted once again cupped it's hand over it's ears and stopped. Akito could make out that nobody could stand the noise but he had to do some things for his pokemom. While the Blaziken was distracted, Akito looked pleadingly at Dava. That Blaziken would soon come and smash Vulcan's face as Vulcan's growl had considerably weakened.

The look Akito shot Dava told her enough. There was no time for arguing. Only action.

"Duke, Tackle!" she began, then put a hand on her pokémon's head to make it look up at her. "On its legs."

Duke nodded and shot away the moment Blaziken started to regain focus. However, it was too late. The rock boulder pokémon crashed with all its force into Blaziken's right leg, making it fall over with a cry of pain. It didn't matter what level you were at - a low blow is low.

The trainers rejoiced. It seemed like they had triumphed at last, with Blaziken on the stone floor, moaning. But Flannery shook her head with a chuckle.

"Flame Charge, full power," she said camly.

It was as if a switch turned in Blaziken's eyes. Without even getting up from the ground, it started growling and you could see its fists shaking from gathering power. Duke, Ladon and Vulcan all staggered back in anticipation. But they stood no chance.

When the shockwave of flaming air came, the trainers were just outside its blast range. They felt the hot breeze touch them, but were left without burns. The pokémon standing closer didn't manage so well. When the humans looked up after having shielded themselves from the blast, they were met with a terrible sight. All three smaller pokémon lay motionless on the ground, signs of burns on their bodies. It had not mattered that all of them had an innate resistance to fire moves. Blaziken was too strong.

"Duke!" Dava called out desperately and ran up to her fallen pokémon. The ground was scorching hot beneath her feet, and so was the Geodude's body.

Akito bit his lip. That Blaziken was too strong. He then walked over to Vulcan's side and sat beside him. There were burns all across the tiny pokemon's body and a look of shameful defeat on his face. Akito stifled a laugh. It was a bit funny looking at a Numel with a look of injury on his face. He returned Vulcan back to his pokeball and then felt across his own forehead. He was sweating. But he had enjoyed every bit of the previous battle.

Aya looked on in a amazement at the strength of the Flame Charge, it had been so powerful that the blaziken had not even needed to make contact as was customary with the move. The cavern was scorched in places and the trio's pokemon lay motionless suffering from burns.

"Sorry about that... I might have gone a bit overboard" Flannery called from across the room, returning her blaziken but Aya only had eyes for Ladon at that moment. She ran to the little dragon's side and quickly proceded to spray him with a potion and a burn heal.

"You did a really good job out there, you were really brave too." she encouraged her companion before returning him to with the confines of his pokeball. Aya hadn't really been expecting to win, but she couldn't help but feel disappointed and - shocking herself - she found herself quite angry with Dava.

If maybe she had listened and done what I asked instead of ignoring me and going crazy with Akito we could have at least done better. It was simple, hurl Ladon at the blaziken whilst it was distracted with Vulcan and hit with a boosted Dual Chop... then the others could have used Maginitude on the downed blaziken and done some serious damage! Or maybe that is just me being sour and overestimating Duke and Ladon's capabilities? Gah! I don't know but this Dava woman has been giving me filthy looks the whole time and now this?!

Aya pulled herself together, despite the rage in her head, and stood up.

"Thanks for battling with me guys" she said to Akito and Dava - trying to hide her animosity towards the latter "and thanks you for battling against us Flanenry! To think so early in our journeys we got to go head to head with one of the elite four!" she added.

Flannery grinned at her opponents
"You guys are welcome! The path behind me opens up onto a small plateau. From there you can head downwards to the right and no matter which path in that direction you take you will eventually get onto Route 112. You guys have a lot of potential I think, good luck with you on your journeys and I look forward to battling you again one day."

Dava was too bewildered to notice any feelings stemming from the other girl. She was still sitting down beside Duke and nodded while Aya and Flannery talked. That was a real battle.

Other: Reynold has the ability Multiscale, enabling him to survive super effective hits easily.

Well at least my character's parents didn't die until he was pretty much an adult. XD

I wouldn't consider my character an orphan really. I imagine his parents had him very late, and probably died of natural causes.

Wow, I just looked over all the sign ups, and at least 50% of the characters were abandoned at birth, lol.
