Imagine what the typical beater looks like and you'd get Tyler's appearance in a nutshell. Standing at an imposing six-foot-three, he is packed with muscle, weighing in at around two hundred and thirty pounds. For the most part he keeps his dirty blonde hair slicked back out of his face, and for the past year he has sporting the short beard. His tanned white skin is covered in scars and blemishes, many of which were a result of his short temper and reckless behavior.
As for his attire, he's been wearing pretty much the same type of clothes his entire life. On most days Tyler will just dress in a flannel shirt with his signature leather coat on top. Along with that he dons a pair of mud-stained jeans and his treasured dark brown boots.
Anyone with The Sight can immediately the effects of Ty's decay on his body. Anywhere that it has affected, the skin and muscle are no longer is visible only leaving behind only the bone underneath. This can be seen most notably in his left jaw as one can see through his cheek, leaving his teeth exposed.
HISTORY: The youngest of five Boone boys it's always seemed as though Tyler has lived with a chip on his shoulder. Born on a farm lying among the outskirts of Westclox, Mississippi, the Boone family lived a quiet life. Every morning the boys would wake at the sound of the rooster's crow and go about doing their chores before quickly devouring breakfast and then scrambling to get in the bed of Baxter's (the oldest of the siblings) truck and ride into town to attend school. Once Bax left the farm it was Tex's truck, then it was Deacon's, then Robby's, and then Ty finally inherited the beaten down pick up. They would get out of school and once again hop into whoever's truck and speed down the dirt road back to the Boone family farm, where they would complete the various chores around the farm, eating supper and going to bed. The schedule would differ from time to time, but for the majority of Ty's life it had stayed the same.
With his short temper and reckless attitude, the youngest Boone boy often found himself in a sticky situation. In the tiny town of Westclox he was known as the trouble maker. Always instigating fights at school, never completing assignments, taking things that weren't his, the conservative and close knit community of the town grew to become wary of Tyler. Known as the angry, sarcastic, rude loner, he enjoyed his role as the town outcast, it's not like it deflected all the girl's interest in him. Another particular trait about the boy was that he would occasionally see something he found strange and no one else seemed to see. At first he would try and point it out, but it would be received with strange looks and teasing, so he learned to keep these strange sights to himself.
Ty grew to become a very large young man and buy his first year in high school he was over six feet tall and the body of someone who had been lifting weights his entire life. While he completely failed in his classes, the youngest Boone excelled in athletics becoming a star linebacker on the football field and placing second place in the state tournament for wrestling. However, it was in baseball that he found refuge in the most. With the other two sports he just took out all his anger and took advantage of his size. In contrast, with baseball he found a strange peace while playing.
After going through high school, just barely passing his classes and getting suspended time and time again, Tyler received a full ride scholarship to play baseball in a small Division III college a couple miles from Westclox. All his other siblings had gotten into much better schools, but then again they were all much better scholars than Ty had ever been. Because of the short distance between school and home he often would come home and help out on the farm as his parent's old ages were catching up to them.
On a particular night he was home, Ty was checking up on the cows one last time before he went back into the house to sleep. Every seemed fine, however as he reached the stairs on the home's porch he heard a strange cry coming from the corral. Fearing someone was messing with the cattle Tyler grabbed the baseball bat leaning on the side of the porch and quickly snuck back to the cattle. He poked his head inside the small, open building to find one of the most horrifying creatures he had ever seen. Later he would come to learn that this was a demon, but at the moment it was just a winged skeletal being that was tearing one of his calves open. Not really sure what to do, Ty charged forward with his bat and swung as hard as he could for the skeleton's head, before repeatedly smashing it's body over and over. Eventually the corpse dissolving into the air, but not leaving behind the calf almost entirely ripped into two.
Panicking at this point, he ran back to the house. There was no rational explanation to tell his parents what had happened to the calf and that thing?! What was that thing?! He had to get out of that place before he went crazy. Ty had seen some crazy sh*t before, but nothing compared to whatever that creature was. By now he had packed most of his things and piled all of them into his truck and sped out of town, not really sure where he was going, all he knew was that he had to get as far away as he could from that thing.
The incident had happened around the time that Tyler was nineteen. After he skipped town he had gone around from city to city, doing any labor involved jobs that he could find to find cash. Eventually he would see something strange that no one else could see and he would always leave the city he was in as soon as possible. It was after a period of time that Ty started seeing the effects of his decay. His skin was starting to rot on his left jaw and he could even start to see his teeth underneath. At first he believed that it was a result of smoking since being in the third grade, but no one else seemed to see it, even the doctor that he went to go see. It wasn't until he was in Spring Ranch, Nebraska doing some logging work that someone took notice of it.
While at a bar, after work an older man sat down next to him. He was older, probably around his mid-fifties, but he had a shine in his eyes and warmth about him. He sat down and introduced himself as John Morrissey to Tyler. The younger man didn't pay him much heed, until the stranger asked him about his decaying cheek which had spread enough to leave his teeth exposed on the left side of his face. Ty sprung up, asking who he was and was getting ready to beat the questions out of this "John Morrissey", but after much convincing and calming down John was able to explain to the youngest Boone boy the basics of Gehenna.
The two traveled around the country, John hunting his demons with Ty watching and learning. John explained to the latter everything about Gehenna
which took some mighty convincing and told him about his own profession of ridding the world of evil demons that are a threat to humanity. After the elder demon hunter had taken Tyler under his wing for a couple years, he decided that it was the young man's time to become a hunter of his own and sent him off to Griffin, California where he was to join The Order of the Morning Star.
