I might do this with Electric in Red, but it would be very hard with only 5 Evo lines in R/B (not counting Zapdos) and since in R/B they lern no damaging moves against the abundant Rock/Ground combos.

So I might do this with Fire Red since Raichu can learn Iron Tain and Dig to beat the Rock/Ground combos.

Edit: Screw it, I'm just going to do a Raichu only run in Leaf Green.

Quite a lot done in this segment...

Long story short, i'm at Fuschia at the moment just after defeating Koga.
I caught a Machop, evolved it into a Machoke. Went through Rock Tunnel. Defeated the Rockets. I caught a Cubone and traded it for a Machamp. Then I defeated Erika. Then I caught a Poliwag in Fuschia and levelled it up a bit and evolved it and evolved it again. Then I recently beat Koga and am planning to level up Poliwrath so it is around the same levels as my team.

    Progress:

    Type: Fighting

Trained up Poliwrath to around level 43.
Went to Saffron and defeated The Fighting Dojo and obtained a Hitmonlee (which I decided not to use as I couldn't be bothered to train it).
Defeated Team Rocket in Silph Co. and obtained some items.
Went to Saffron Gym and defeated Sabrina and all her trainers quite easily.
Went to Pallet Town and surfed to Cinnabar Isle.
Went into the Pokemon Mansion, got the key etc.
Went into the gym, defeated all the trainers and Blaine with absolute ease.
Went back to Virdian and defeated Giovanni (also easy).
Then went west and defeated my Rival.
    Saved.

  • Primeape: Thunderbolt? Has Primeape really enough Special to effectively use it? You might want a Fighting STAB instead, sadly the only thing it still gets is Submission which is far from good. Another improvement you could make is replacing Trash with Hyper Beam, in this generation it's a decent choice.

Machoke: Looks like a filler Pokemon to me (the moveset makes it look kinda neglected), so don't know what to do here

Machamp: Machamp has monstrous attack, get something else than S-Toss. Too bad that, again, there's no real alternative to Submission...

Poliwrath: Since you can't get Amnesia anymore because it's already evolved, I'd say leave it as it is. It's fine that way.

I know, that's the bad thing about the Fighting type in Gen 1, hardly enough fighting type moves...
I have got Mega Punch and Mega Kick maybe I can teach one of those to Machamp. Thunderbolt was mainly for Lorelei because I haven't got any other resistances to the water type.
Oh, and Hyper Beam? Where can you find that? Do you have to buy it?

  • Mega Punch and Mega Kick are both normal type, and in Body Slam and Karate Chop you're already having better normal moves.

The Hyper Beam TM can be bought in Celadon's game corner, I think it's TM 15.

I beat Mars now and am now heading to Eterna Forest. I'll make a real Update when I beat Gardenia.

  • Update: Beat Team Galactic in Floaroma. This was pretty hard, Kricketune was incredibly Zubat weak before it learned Slash. Went through Eterna Forest, almost got killed by a Fisherman's Goldeen on the route between Eterna itself and the Forest, stupid quadruple confuhax...
Beat Gardenia, with the newly learned X-Scissor Kricketune OHKOd all of her Pokemon, even Roserade which is not weak to Bug.

    Team:
    Spr_4p_402_m.png

    Kricket / Kricketune m Lv.31 @ /
    Naughty Nature / Swarm
    - Sing
    - Rock Smash
    - X-Scissor
    - Slash
Improved a lot, the only thing that still causes major problems is Gastly. I probably will have to do some grinding before Fantina to get Night Slash, because apparenty Kricketune doesn't have access to Thief...

And no, I am not planning to use Wurmple's evolutions because they suck (at least Dustox does, and Yanmega outclasses Beautifly), and neither am I planning to use honey tree Pokemon, just because I hate honey trees with a fiery passion.

  • Small Update: Beat Jupiter and arrived at Hearthome. This could have gone a lot faster without all the gossip I had to click away, but whatever. Kricketune is at level 36, has not learned Night Slash yet, and some idiots people are blocking both roads out of Hearthome, so I can't even skip Fantina and fight her later...
So, apparently, as I was already fearing, it's grinding time =/

Alright. First log. I'm on VBA until DPPt, so yea.

-Named myself 'Deion' (that IS my name...-__-)
-Picked Charmander. I don't nickname Pokemon.
-Went back to house and withdrew Potion and ??????????. Yea. There was an item in my box called that. There were ??? of them. o_O. Damn VBA.
-Trained Charmander until it learned Metal Claw
    -Retrieved and returned Oak's Parcel
-Got Pokedex and Town Map (which is weird because it's a map for a whole region. o_O)
    -Entered Viridian Forest
    -Left Viridian Forest
    -Healed at PC
    -Entered Pewter Gym

I beat the trainer pretty easily, then my Charmander evolved. :3 That made facing Brock easier. He had me at first (hit me with 2 Rock Tombs, but Charmeleon stood strong), but I used a Potion and Brock kept using (and missing) Bind while I beat him with three Metal Claws.

-Beat trainers en route to Mt. Moon
    -Bought Magikarp ( :3 )
    -Saved.

That's my first log. Here is my team so far:

    pkfrlg005.png

    Charmeleon (Lv. 19)
    -Scratch
    -Growl
    -Ember
    -Metal Claw

    pkfrlg129.png

    Magikarp (Lv.5)
    -Splash

I am right outside of Mt. Moon. :3
