Ash's dream is not to be a specific element's master, what a gym-leader is, that's why he is not turning into one.
You also confuse Ash's and Misty's goal. Ash want to win, while Misty wants to collect, train and research. Misty is simply told to quit being childish, grow up, take notice you already reached your dream. Ash'd need the same slap (unless he is still 10 years old which rises questions).

Also, Ash is a Deformed Clone Twin of Gary, who turned to be a Pokemon Researcher.
An Elite Four shares the title with three other person, that's why Ash can't be one. Not to mention Ash is mentally challenged, what disqualifies him from being an Elite Four. After 4 league he still uses types against pokemons which are immun to that type. Come to think of it as being a Gym-leader is about loosing/letting the newbie win if (s)he has the necessary skills, that's not for Ash who'd never let anyone win a badge.
Ash could be a G-men though. Probably. But there is no such thing as a "champion trainer". If you think on "pokemon champion" we are all waiting for that. But no champion is restricted to using only one type.

Now "Top Coordinators" are matching the definition with "Pokemon Champion", thus not at all mean there should be "Pokemon Master" title:
"The title is bestowed upon Coordinators who have won a Grand Festival" - translated into trainer-version "...who have won a Pokemon League". But that's what "Pokemon Champion" is.

As DBZ fan pointed out, being Gym Leader =/= Water-type master, something both the games and even the anime made very clear. In fact, common sense, if being a Gym Leader actually did mean being a Water Pokémon Master, that means Misty wouldn't even NEED to go travel by herself, because even before GCYL, Misty was already a gym leader (in fact, it was stated as early as Episode 7, Waterflowers of Cerulean City, and her sisters don't even deny it). And BTW, Lorelei/Prima of the Elite 4 was specifically referred to as being a Pokémon Master in some sources including, yes, the Anime. In fact, Misty even idolized her. Use common sense, if she wanted to reach Prima's level, don't you think she would, I don't know, go for Elite 4 at the very least if not champion? And BTW, Masters don't lose against rookies easily, which is unfortunately what happens a lot with Gym Leaders (I believe that's even one of Blaine's complaints in Riddle Me This). And then there's the Whirl Cup, which explicitly stated that winning that would, if not make Misty a Water Pokémon Master, certainly would get her far closer to the goal.

So no, Misty definitely got the short end of the stick. And let me remind you that Iris has a similar goal to Misty yet she didn't even bother getting the Gym Leading position, instead electing to actually continue her journey, and this is DESPITE her being due to leave the cast anyways. That should prove to you that becoming a Gym Leader obviously cannot get you to become a Pokémon Master, whether it be of a specific type or in general (otherwise, Iris would have jumped at the opportunity to become a Gym Leader).

And do I really need to remind you that in Kanto, Ash also wanted to collect Pokémon (he ended up dismayed whenever he learned that Gary outranked him in amount of Pokémon caught)? Or that most times, he observes Pokémon through the Pokedex, even AFTER Gary was effectively retired as a rival.

There. Is. No. Such. Thing. As. Master.

Got it, people? There is no such thing as "pokemon master", or "pokemon type-master". There is no such thing. It is a fairytale to push undecided children of the poke-world to find their place by encountering new things and settle down. That's it! You can't become a pokemon-master because there is no such thing as pokemon-master.

The Pokémon League, Whirl Cup, and all of those things would beg to differ. Why would they be pushing for such a goal if it didn't even exist. It's one thing for their parents to do that to motivate kids. It's quite another for an official tournament to basically lie about it especially when it practically would mean false advertising, and thus lead to a huge scandal.

The thing I want the most is--

---Ash & Co completely drop the Polite term of Speech when they talk to each other.

Seriously , It feel like the Series is being handle by a Total WUSS who think every Good guy should be completely polite and Nice .
It like saying Misty is bad because she often hit people and mean to Psyduck! But those are the characteristic that make her character enjoyable.
Even Good guys could be little mean , selfish , arrogant and impolite.
Truth is , A completely mean , rude , Stuck-up , arrogant , snotty and Sarcastic character can become very popular ! Example Pacifica (Gravity Falls) , even the creator of that show didn't expect her to be Popular.
Even Ursula is more popular then Zoey despite being a Weaker rival then Her.
Ash also was a little Arrogant and mischievous in Original series who would often pick a fight with other trainer.
Those were the actual part that made Ash look like a Real Kid.
Honestly , I wouldn't mind if a Character like Pacifica (Gravity Falls) appear to antagonize Ash and his friend until she goes though her development ! The series can use more ''positive Antagonist'' beside Team Rocket.

Why would they be pushing for such a goal if it didn't even exist.
To make children dream. To push out those from home who can't decide what their lifetime profession will be, and just sit around playing games.
They do stuff, get attached to it, start to earn their living, and forget about Santa and other childish thing.
As the system work 100% minus Ash (anyone else would have got bored already from walking around as a trainer and find something useful to do), there is noone to complain, but everyone has the reason to keep the system!

That would make sense if it were the parents, but not with a major organization like the Pokémon League. That's basically tantamount to something like the Watergate Scandal in terms of damaging their reputation.

    1) I want Ash to win a league for once in his life, and then maybe the next few regions could be 30 years later and it shows that Ash has settled down with presumably Misty and that they had a kid, and then the next few regions could focus on that same kid
    2) For Ash to actually be noted as a 12 / 13 year old during X and Y
    3) For team flare to appear sometime in the anime for a while, whether they have a big or small part is up to the question, but IDC as long as we get to see them at least for one episode
    4) For a past poke-girl (Hopefully May) returning. This would be awesome, I personally would love it if they brought back, Misty May or Dawn. But hopefully May, I mean it would be awesome
    5) A shipping (apart from armourshipping which I feel may be made canon) to be made canon (maybe rocketshipping or contestshipping maybe?)

Eh I'm all out of ideas for now

I cannot even take seriously claims how pokemon master title is just some made up childlike desire which "apparently doesnt exist in pokemon world". Making as much sense as "Ash coma theory".

I mean sure its nice to have headcannons and fabricate things to better suit your own theories and formed perception about pokemon anime and how things function there.

But facts and canon are entirely different pair of sleeves.

Maybe pokemon master or type master claims could be brought in question of just being "selfproclaimed titles" or dreaming of something which cannot be achieved if it werent for official tournaments, competitors and tasks established in this series which proved to be steps which push somene closer toward obtain of such title.

With water pokemon master goal and Misty it was stated to mean becoming strongest water trainer in world wanting to become strong as E4 member Lorelei. There were introduced elemental based tournaments like Whirl Cup which test water trainer adaptability and learning how to use water specie to full potential proving worth as type specialist on global basis. With winner accomplishing one of important tasks necessary to come closer toward that title.

Talks from sea priest Maya and professor Elm only reinforced this when talking about water pokemon masters being sea heroes in past who used power of water spirits knowing how to read hearts of water pokemon becoming like one.

With winner getting title Alpha Omega of water pokemon pendant wth mystical water powers.

It wasnt properly explained and there were left unanswered questions. But this moments showed how there exists official steps and requirements needed to be accomplished to gain water master title and recognition of becoming true water expert.

With Iris dragon master was established to be powerful dragon trainer who has immense knowledge about this specie, learned to raise them in most productive way and how to establish two way comunication between dragon and trainer. Becoming perfectly coordinated in battle.

With those who achieved this being assigned this title by elders from dragon village. On top of that Opelucid gym leader Drayden was introduced as dragon master in anime achieving this title from elders at village after passing tests and proving his expertise.

Than there is Ash. His goal of becoming poke masterwas stated several times to become strongest and most recognized pokemon trainer in world. We know how one of steps on that road is to enter gyms, collect badges and win regional league. As well becoming true experts in using your pokemon to full potential and achieve synchronization to work like one if all those high class trainers like champions such as Cynthia, Alder etc are something to go by.

Future steps in Ash career of becoming master were given over course of his journey such as clear confirmation by E4 Lucian on episode "Elite Meet and Greet!" how after regional, there is champion league comprised of battling E4 and champion as one of steps needed to overcome in order to come closer toward pokemon master title.

Accompanied with ex pokemon director Masamitsu Hidaka interview from 2008. on pokebeach how anime will end with Ash becoming pokemon master.

From interview made by mr. Hidaka:
    Spoiler:

P.S. Last but not least important if pokemon master title is fanciful in pokemon world than whole point of existence behind pokemon league committee and organization which introduced tournaments and tasks through which trainer can make name for themselves, evaluate their skills and acquire master title.

Is brought in question and whta piurpose they serve if anything they promote and established in pokemon world is just "one big lie". To deceive trainer minds in working toward something which was never there to begin with.

Talking about conspiracy theories with people giving too much credit to writers and storyline of this anime. If they think writers would ever go that deep.

Not to mention Nintendo and Gamefreak shoot themselves in leg since day one. Because through pokemon games they established how type pokemon master title exists wizth every E4 member being labelled as type master of pokemon specie they specialize in. Acknowledged for ability to extract full potential of type they train on surface.

How there exists special organizations and clans formed by masters of partioular pokemon specie. Like dragon master clan led by Lance grandfather being mentioned in games etc.

Moral of this story is how just because pokemon master or type pokemon master careers were unpolished and uncleared in some aspects. Not receiving enough exposition. Does not mean how this goals Ash, Misty or Iris pursue are nonexistant.

Ahem , Why are we Discussing Misty's Goal here when there is separate form forthis???

    I want--

---Ash to completely crash Drew , Trip , Cameron and Kenny in a full battle .

---Ash winning a major individual Tournament similar to Wallace Cup.

---If Ash is forces to release Goodra then he also catch a Dragonite or Tyruntrum or a Huge Noivern in its place.

---Ash to end up with a Cute ''Badass'' girl !

    ---Ash winning the League .

#1 Morrison never act like a Gorilla ! Also He's chubby , Not big & Muscular.
#2 Misty was right companion for the series and the series need another Bulma type character .
#3 May & Max doesn't fit in description ! Max tried to act Older , not cooler .

Why do you think Alain and Mairin has better interaction ?
Its because Alain is a ''Loner wolf'' and Mairin is a ''Clumsy Airhead'' So they fit together.
Same way , Ash is a typical ''Dense hothead'' protagonist So a ''Mature Tsundere'' like Misty/Bulma fit Ash much better .
Iris didn't work out because she's a ''Wild girl''.
''Mature Tsundere'' are total opposite of ''Wild Girl''

Agreed for the most part, though I'm not sure Misty's really a Bulma-type character (at least not Bulma during Dragon Ball. Bulma during Dragon Ball Z? Maybe). Actually, there were quite a few times where Misty actually put Ash's needs far above her own even at risk to herself. For a good example of this, in Challenge of the Samurai, Misty, shortly after encountering Samurai and being threatened by him, learned he was looking for trainers from Pallet Town, and then after remembering Ash was from Pallet Town, immediately ran back to try and warn Ash of the impending danger (as his actions during the encounter initially gave the strong implication that Samurai intended to kill trainers from that area), despite being fully aware that Samurai was armed with a Katana. To put it in perspective, in the General Blue arc from Dragon Ball, when a similar situation occurred with the collapse of the Pirate Cave, Bulma was perfectly willing to abandon Goku just to save her own butt, causing Krillin to call her out on her cowardice and selfishness.

    1) I want Ash to win a league for once in his life, and then maybe the next few regions could be 30 years later and it shows that Ash has settled down with presumably Misty and that they had a kid, and then the next few regions could focus on that same kid

Well, maybe win a league, but I doubt they will have any future regions thanks to the awful ratings Pokémon's currently getting.

    2) For Ash to actually be noted as a 12 / 13 year old during X and Y

Agreed with that. Pokémon's not the kind of show that utilizes a floating timeline, and in fact, the kind of plot the show has would actually naturally imply that the characters age. Even Dragonball, an Anime similar to Pokémon in some respects, nonetheless has the characters actually aging.

    3) For team flare to appear sometime in the anime for a while, whether they have a big or small part is up to the question, but IDC as long as we get to see them at least for one episode

Well, they do appear in the Evolution Specials, but so far there isn't a Team Flare appearance, and they probably need to appear very soon because at the rate the gyms are going at, we might see the end of the Kalos region by the end of the year at the earliest, maybe even in January of next year.

    4) For a past poke-girl (Hopefully May) returning. This would be awesome, I personally would love it if they brought back, Misty May or Dawn. But hopefully May, I mean it would be awesome

Considering how she left and the fact that her reappearance seemed more predicated to her goal than her friends being there, I doubt May will make a reappearance (besides, Kalos doesn't even have Pokémon Contests, so she can't make a reappearance there). There are far more chances Misty or Iris would make a reappearance than May or Dawn.

    5) A shipping (apart from armourshipping which I feel may be made canon) to be made canon (maybe rocketshipping or contestshipping maybe?)

I'm doubtful Amourshipping's going to be canon. I'm not a Pokeshipper, yet even I admit that has far more chances at being canon than Amourshipping (in fact, Ash is completely oblivious to Serena's lovestruck feelings for her, meaning he feels absolutely nothing for her). Besides, if they wanted Amourshipping to be canon, they would have actually made it so in that Date episode last February. If they are going to make a canon ship, it had better be something Love at First Sight related and something both parties experience feelings for each other.

  • Just these three:

    - a Ghost or Dark type Pokémon licking out one of the protagonists' tears
    - Serena's child from the future pairing up with Ash and co. to stop another trainer from the future, who happens to be a future rival of Serena that sabotaged her first showcase
    - crossover specials with the Mario series

  • XY-wise, I'd like to see a tournament similar to the ones in BW. It'd give the cast some much needed battles (even Ash barely battles outside of gyms these days) and could be worked into giving a reason for the inevitable Iris cameo (maybe the winner gets to battle Drasna?). In general for XY I think the cast's Pokemon are in need of development and personality, and now that Goodra's gone I'd like to see Ash's pokemon in particular get some episodes with decent focus.

For the anime as a whole, I'd like to see another well written, region long rival for Ash. Not necessarily an antagonistic one, but someone like Paul who's around ffrom the beginning of the saga and who could end up giving a tense league battle. I'd also like to see a male companion with an actual goal, other than the relatively vague ones we've had so far.

Trainers starting to use poke-stuff to communicate with each other. Telling each other what gyms use what type, suggest strategies, uploading selfies, their new special combinations, legendary-sightings, legends - you know, 21. century stuff like internet forums, online helps (imagine how cool would be if they are stuck in the middle of a desert/forest, no PokeCenter around, but Nurse Joy give online help!), facebook, video-sharing...

    EDIT:
    - the answer to who the heck is Tobias?

    Hmm--

--- Iris being force to dump her Dragonite like Ash !

--- Iris catch a Swablu and raise it into a Powerful Altaria that can take down a Garchamp or Salamence.

--- Iris untie her hair and look like this for one episode
    perso_anime_jd366r28qzwgBzF.PNG

--- Iris stop acting Mature like Misty and become a true ''Wild Girl'' doing wild thing like Kuro (Fate/kaleid Liner PRISMA ILLYA)

--- Iris tease Ash with Random slide comment instate off calling him ''Such a Kid'' all the time.

--- Iris beat Someone Really powerful except Ash Because their nothing awesome about beating Him ! Since anybody can beat Ash , Including a total Rookie.

Tobias is the trainer who used legendaries during the Sinnoh League and beat Ash largely effortlessly, a controversial character due to cheapening his time at the league, serving as a cheap excuse for Ash to lose (he's better than Cameron, but not by much).

As far as the topic, have Ash win a league, reunite with Pidgeot, Butterfree, and all the other non-Oaked Pokémon that he has yet to see, have Misty actually pursue her dream of WPM, and the like.
