  • Name: Joey McKernan

    Age: 15

    Gender: Male

    Species: Farfetch'd

    Appearance:
Joey is of a somewhat tall stature for his species. His feathers are a paler, more saturated colour of brown than others of his species. Noticeable is that he has a plume of red feathers on top of his head. His eyes are of a hazel colour with specks of green and amber mixed through it. His leek appears to be in a fine condition and has a healthy green colour with little signs of wear and tear. He has a hawkish appearance. He has a scar that breaks his large black eyebrow on the right.

    Personality:
Joey tends to be a loner type. He doesn't much like being around other pokémon, as he thinks they tend to slow him down. He thusly keeps to himself mostly, and secludes himself from the rest as much as he can. He is hard-working who holds himself to high standards of self-discipline. He believes that everything has a rational way of doing, and can be quite forceful with his plans. He can be hard listener sometimes, and won't take orders from anyone who haven't proven themselves to him yet, unless he happens to have the same idea in mind.

    History:
Joey lived most of his life secluded from the rest of the inhabitants in Pokémon square. He spent most of his time away from town, gathering berries. He made little friends, chatted with almost nobody, and during his free time he was at home, working on his paintings. When he heard of the rumours of the strange spectre, he immediately dismissed it, and just hoped everyone would shut up about it eventually, but on a trip to gather resources, he had a close encounter with the very spectre himself. A Houndoom attacked him from behind, before collapsing strangely, with a spirit entity leaving it. He then knew the story wasn't just made up.

  • Thanks for signing up, you may begin right away! Start at the point when your character meets the specter for the fist time.

Melrose walks through the village, in the evening. She had a long day of working and is exhausted by now. She could use a good night's sleep. As she almost arrives at home, a large treehouse, she suddenly hears odd sounds and turns around to see what it is. Her eyes go wide. A Houndoom is darting her way with tremendous speed. Melrose doesn't hesitate to run away this time, and that's when a chase starts. Is this the rumoured specter that little Catherine was talking about? Melrose actually thought that the Pichu was blabbering nonsense. There's no time for that right now, because the Houndoom catches up with her soon enough and prepares for his strike. Melrose though, is very fast and once the Houndoom pounces, she manages to leap away and take a closer look at her assaulter. The houndoom has weird red dots in his eyes as he glares at her. Melrose braces herself for a fight. Suddenly, the Houndoom jumps for her and catches her within a second. He collapses once Melrose is cornered. A spirit of some sort flees from his body and this allows Melrose to escape.
She darts off, as fast as she can, and returns home safely.

  • The canopy of the forests provided a decent amount of shadow for Joey on this mildly warm evening for a foraging expedition, the sun almost setting but still providing a faint red glow to the sky. He had little choice but to go out now, as his supply of berries began to dwindle fastly. He porched himself on a low branch of a tree, as he held firmly onto his green-tinted leek, and looked around for the right plants to pick the berries from. Sure enough, he soon noticed the pink colour of pecha berries hanging in a tree. A smirk formed on the brown-feathered bird pokémon who delightfully flew from one tree to the other to pick some of the berries. He tried to take all he could get when he heard a noise, the sound of another pokémon, somewhere in the distance. It sounded odd, like there was something amiss there. He had to try and investigate it to see what was wrong. The Farfetch'd flew into the direction of the sound. He flew low, wanting to stay under the shade. His leek was in his beak and his wings full of pecha berries he had picked. How could he have been so stupid as to go in so low. A mere jump from the black dog pokémon and a swipe knocked him to the ground. "Bugger! What's going on?! Is it true?!" Joey yelled angrily as he was taken down from the air, the pecha berries were thrown over the ground. The swipe hurt his face badly, and he could feel he had been cut right above his eye, where blood dripped down from. The Houndoom gave him little time to get himself together, and he was pinned under the weight of the angry-looking dog pokémon. He braced himself for a death blow, but it never came. The Houndoom collapsed under its own weight, a wispy apparition left its body. "What the?" Joey was confused, though at least glad to not be dead now. He pulled himself away from under the Houndoom's weight and grabbed his leek. He didn't care about the berries anymore, he just wanted to get back home.

  • The next morning, Melrose walked through the Tiny Woods in order to get to the Secret Base the quickest way possible. She heard sounds of yelling and fighting and decided to take a little look, curious as she is. Despite being nervous about the situation, Melrose couldn't ignore this. She hid herself in a large, formidable tree that was just perfect for spying. Her eyes quickly scanned the environment, and then she saw it; the Houndoom from the day before assaulting a Farfetch'd and pinning him to the ground. Melrose carefully spied on them until she saw the Houndoom collapsing and the Farfetch'd escaping his grasp. She sighed in relief, took on a more relaxed pose and descended from the tree she was hiding in. Within seconds, she approached the Farfetch'd without hesitation. She just wanted to know how he was. "A-Are you all right?" she asked in concern for the bird-like pokémon. She turned to the Houndoom for a second, only to see it had vanished right when they weren't looking. She gasped in shock and turned back to Joey. "That thing is gone," she said quickly.

  • Even before he could set off, he noticed the approach of a strange Eevee who was apparently alerted by the sounds of the short-lived battle. The peculiar looking Eevee appeared to have black and grey fur, and missed a very noticeable feature, namely the fluffy tail most Eevee had. She seemed concerned about him. He ran his wing over his forehead to check the place where he'd been swiped at. The cut would probably heal after a while, he presumed, even though the bleeding looked pretty bad. "Yes, I'm feeling fine," he murmured. He turned around, and noticed that the houndoom was indeed already gone. "Bugger knocked me out of the air," he said. He didn't want to stay for a chat for too long, because he was already feeling embarrassed enough already that he had been taken down so quickly, let alone knowing there was somebody who saw everything happen.

  • Melrose looked back at him and noticed his shame. She didn't really mind, though. She then looked at the wound above his eye. "Are you sure that you don't need proper treatment for that?" she asked him. She saw him looking at her missing tail and looked down for a second. Now it seemed as if she was ashamed of herself, although there was no need for that. She changed the subject within an instant to prevent the Farfetch'd from asking her more questions: "That Houndoom attacked me too and almost killed me. Yesterday, to be honest. He scared the crap out of me, but yeah... I guess that it can't be helped. Were you among the pokémon that gathered when Catherine told us about the one that assaulted her a few days ago? Didn't she mention a Houndoom as well?" she asked him while looking very serious. She didn't want to become a suspicious character due to her odd appearance and actually tried to get away. But she had the habit to stick around in conversations.

  • "What? Uh, no, I think I'll be fine," the Farfetch'd lied through his teeth, "it probably looks worse than it actually is." An age old excuse for turning down help. Hopefully it still worked on this Eevee. His attention strayed off untill she mentioned that she was attacked by the exact same creature too. "You too, aye?" he said, "Well, bugger if that crazy Pichu got it by the right end anyway, there was pretty much no way you could not hear about her stories, with all the crowds she gathers making so much noise." Joey had the bad luck of the Pichu revealing her stories pretty much right in front of his doorstep. He could even hear what she was saying from inside his home, and it made it very difficult for him to work. "But aye, she did mention a Houndoom, along with all of the spirit shenanigans that go accompanied with it," he shrugged.

  • Melrose glanced at him and his nasty cut before turning away from him. She closed her eyes to think properly and took a few steps before actually realizing what had taken place and what is coming. She then gasped and leapt up. "I'm going to be terribly late if I don't hustle, so I have to go. Take care!" she shouted before dashing off. She'd get in trouble if she'd be late at work, and so she ran towards the Secret Base where the organization she worked for, was located. At least, one of the many bases was located there. There were hundreds of them, and nobody, except for the agents and other employees, knew about the existence of them. Melrose was somebody that was terribly bad at keeping secrets, but in this situation, she was actually forced to. Even her foster mother, Gabriëlla the Gardevoir, did not know about her double life.
Melrose arrived at the base, and big chaos was prevailing there. Melrose asked what was wrong, and the simple answer was: "Caitlin has vanished!" Melrose and Caitlin have been best friends for what seemed to be forever, and she was terribly startled with the news. Nobody had a good feeling about it, especially now that there was a specter lurking around town. Melrose immediately set up a little solo investigation.

  • Joey looked confusedly as the Eevee began to dash off to whatever she was late for. He span around his leek deftly before putting it in his beak. He figured he'd best take at least a few of the berries with him back home, so it wouldn't all be lost. He grabbed a couple, and then flew homewards. He'd see to his wound once he'd arrive at his house. He shot up into the sky through the canopy and located the direction he had to go in to get to Pokémon square fairly easily.

A short flight led him to the town that was inhabited by pokémon. He entered his little home. The wonderful scent of coming back to your own little piece of world was always great. His home, a birdhouse shaped building, was big enough for just himself. The walls were covered with paintings he created himself of various mountain and forest landscapes. He put the pecha berries into his storage area. The berries were neatly ordered by their types. He was knackered from the encounter, so he decided to take a few berries for some evening food at least. He ran a wing over the wound again, and was thankful to notice that the bleeding had stopped at least. He took a berry into his mouth and went over to his easel. Before him stood a mere white canvas. Nothing had been painted on it yet. He stood there, deep in thought, but couldn't come up with anything at all. "Bugger, bugger, bugger." he just murmured to himself as he turned away from the white canvas angrily.

  • Melrose packed a bag, stuffed it with supplies and took a weapon with her: a nice, handy sword. She slammed the bag around her back and began walking on her back paws. "Where are you going?" one of her colleagues, a Gabite, asked. Melrose didn't reply, she just wanted to get out of there and find Caitlin at all costs. "Agent Thunder?" The Gabite wanted to ask her something, but before he could even start, Melrose turned back to him and angrily growled: "It's Melrose, for crying out loud!"
She then paced away, through the automatic doors, and set out to search for her friend. She first went back to Pokémon Square, only to see a few police officers posting up a note on the bulletin board. Once the pokémon went away, Melrose immediately read the note. "Wanted: Despair Harper. This villain is known as the Specter." she read aloud. SHe then stuffed the note inside her back, she'll work this out. It's her work, after all, right?

  • "Just try to place the first stroke, and everything will come," Joey said to himself. A brush was now in the Farfetch'd's wings, the tip of it carrying the thick black paint, hovering closely in front of the white canvas, but not touching it. He felt a force that kept him from even touching the damn thing with as much as the tip of the paintbrush. However much he wanted to, he didn't feel like he could do it. He angrily threw the paintbrush onto the ground. "Come on!" he yelled angrily, "where's my god-given inspiration?" He turned to his previous artworks. All works of great fulfillment at the time. He saw each piece as something to be proud of, but not anymore. He wanted something bigger, something better. He never had anything that gave him that right feeling, like there was something about it. Something that made it feel just...right. A feeling he knew had come, whenever it would come. This lack of inspiration was frustrating. He went outside of the house, hoping that at least not staring at a blank canvas would clear his mind. He stopped himself in his tracks when he noticed the same Eevee, now standing by a bulletin board. Part of him screamed to him to just get back inside lest she'd recognise him, or worse, would want to hold small talk with him, but inside, there was the terror of that damn canvas awaiting him. The decision to be made was easy to him then; Just casually continue walking.

  • Melrose turned away from the bulletin board with the letter tucked between her large paws. She tried to think straight for a second but her thoughts went blurry the moment Caitlin crossed her mind. She then looked up and spotted Joey. She recognized him for some reason and frowned. She hoped that he'd not ask her anything about her sudden disappearance from a few minutes ago. That'd blow her cover completely. She decided just to act normal and so she started walking towards the market place and Joey. Although she looked nervous and she knew that, she trid to behave as ordinary as possible and so she crossed Joey's path. "Oh, hey," she smiled at him for a second but then paced on. Don't look back, she thought to herself. That'd attract attention for sure. She just walked and tried to hide her feelings a little. She passed a few shops, bought some oran berries - they might come in handy - and completely ignored the ruckus around her. The famous specter was the main topic in Pokémon Square and actually, Melrose couldn't help but think about him and the conection with Caitlin's disappearance. She groaned a little as she exited the town and walked towards her treehouse to ponder things over a little bit.

  • "Oh, bugger, wrong choice," Joey thought to himself when the Eevee actually walked into his direction. He could just run away, of course, and then embarrass himself in front of public, and making the Eevee nothing but more suspicious of him. Okay, maybe it wasn't an option then. He could just pretend he couldn't see her. No, it was likely too late for that, he could tell she had already looked at him. Bugger, not an option either. He was then relieved by the mere 'oh, hey', and nothing else as the black-furred Eevee strolled past him. He turned his head to see where she was heading. "Right, just keep on moving," he thought when he saw that she was a fair distance away from him already, not stopping for conversation. He really didn't need that at the moment. He needed just a stroll, houndoomfree, through the village. The best treatment for artist's block, he reckoned. Not needing to stare at a big white sheet of canvas, where all possibilities still exist, and ideas are hard to grasp and maintain for longer periods of time before the alternatives are considered. The break from that all was pleasurable. The village inhabitants reminded him of the Houndoom attacks. The rumours spread like fire. His finger glided over the wound he had been inflicted by that dog pokémon. He realised just how lucky he was to have survived it, that for some reason the spirit left the Houndoom's body, and it collapsed. But it bugged him still. What happened to the Houndoom? Somebody who was unconscious a few seconds ago can't simply disappear without some external force, right? He continued his stroll, weighing the possibilities, but he hadn't struck onto any plausible explanation.

  • Melrose lounged on her self-made couch, made out of piles of large, thick leaves and branches of oak wood. She stared into the sould of nothing, almost literally, and tried to clean up the total mess in her mind. Caitlin had to be found, since she was one of the commanders of the secret base. She was a strong Bayleef, skilled in fighting with spells - just like Melrose - and she would be a terrible loss. Melrose had been great friends with Caitlin since they met each other at Melrose's first day at this base. Caitlin had actually saved her from certain doom and Melrose is still incredibly grateful for her rescue.
Melrose suddenly heard a rumbling sound. She snapped out of her thoughts and leaped up from her couch. Who was out there?! She dashed towards the window, one made out of wood, and glanced downwards. She saw a ghasly Shadow lurking behind the corner of an abandoned alley in the square. The Shadow was obviously targeting somebody. Somebody in the square. And that somebody was Catherine, who was just hovering over an apple she had just brought. Melrose didn't hesitate any second and jumped down the window, taking her sword with her.

  • Looks like fun. Also, instead of putting a players full SU in the characters spoiler, just put their username, their character name and their characters species. It will be less crowded and easier to find specific people.

    Name: Ranger Darta
    Age: 15

    Gender: male

    Species: flygon

Appearance: Instead of dark green he is orange and instead of light green he is red. The gel around his eyes is yellow and he has three toes rather than just a foot. The red outline on his wings is yellow as well. He wears a solid blue bandanna and a pair of broken but aesthetically pleasing headphones around his neck that he found in the desert. He has one long scar along his chest from when his home collapsed in the flood (explained in history).

Personality: Extremely calm and laid back, Ranger is a very mild mannered pokemon. He is mostly agreeable but still outspoken. He loves flying and just hanging out with people he likes. Despite his almost lazy demeanor, Ranger is a power house when it comes to battling. This is mostly due to the fact that as a trapinch and vibrava, he absolutely hated how weak he was. He has a soft spot for really any pokemon that are stereotypically cute.

History: Ranger grew up in a loving family of four in a desert village a ways off from Pokemon Square. As was with all vibrava and trapinch, he was extremely weak, and that made him push himself a lot. He trained a lot with his older brother and sometimes his dad. It was only when Ranger evolved that he became more laid back. He found that now that he was stronger, he had few to no worries. He could easily beat any one he needed to an there wasn't much to do. His family moved to pokemon square after a very severe flash flood from the river that ran through destroyed their village. Ranger's home was one of the first to collapse and he was trapped under the fallen roof with a thick piece of wood jutting out of his chest. Despite that situation, it never actually impaired him or affected his personality; if anything, it made him more life-loving. Fortunately no one died, and not many inhabitants and many personal belongings, but the area was swamped out and it seemed better for Rangers family to just move into the hub of commerce, trade and society.

  • Joey continued his stroll. The sun had slid down under the horizon. The lanterns of the street lights gave off a warm yellow glow and illuminated the path ahead of him well. There were still a few pokémon out beside him, but most had decided to go back home after a busy day, so the roads were calm and quiet. This is what he needed the most. The lack of sounds was refreshing to him. It made him able to think so much clearer now, without the background noise. He continued his stroll, spinning around the leek he carried around, deftly maintaining his grip on it with little trouble. As a Farfetch'd, he likely couldn't last a day without carrying one. He heard only the sounds of his own footsteps, his breathing in and out, and a faint rumbling noise? That wasn't good at all. He shrugged it off, convincing himself the sound was just in his imagination. Of course, he had just been attacked by that damn Houndoom in the early evening. The sound was likely a replay of that event in his head, or so it sounded at least. The sound got louder now. No, that was definitely not his imagination. He was on full alert now. Quickly fleeing back home wasn't an option, too far out. His eyes scanned the vicinity to see if something was going on. Nothing yet. He carefully continued walking, keeping his eyes peeled.

  • Catherine hadn't noticed the shadow behind her yet and was just about to dig in the apple when Melrose came falling out of the air, literally. She used her experience and skills to land on her feet with agility and ease. "Catherine, run," she hissed. The Pichu looked up from her meal. "What is it?" she asked while glancing at the mysterious black Eevee next to her. Melrose drew the sword which she took with her from the Secret Base. She suddenly bolted towards the alley the Shadow was hiding in from Catherine and struck with a simple slash of her sword. The Shadow leapt upwards, making Catherine, who was finally capable of seeing him, yelp in shock. Melrose attacked and made a turn to face the Shadow. He narrowed his red eyes, which were the only visible things of his body. A cold chill ran down Melrose's spine. She cringed for a second and that was the moment the Shadow assaulted her; in the form of a large, shady Houndoom!
Melrose jumped away to evade the attack in the nick and barely managed to keep herself from getting seriously injured in the onslaught. The Houndoom turned back to her and barked, letting a flamethrower escape his mouth with each bark. Melrose created a shield with a spell and wasn't hurt at all. "Catherine, he's targeting you, get out of here, for crying out loud!" she yelled. Catherine gave a little nod, abandoned her lunch and darted away. Melrose pointed her sword at the Houndoom. "I know exactly who you are," she hissed. "Despair Harper, AKA the Specter of the Square." The Specter fled his body and made a clapping sound, although you couldn't see where the clapping came from. "Well done, Eevee," he smirked. Now, a mouth appeared on his face as well. Melrose's heart skipped a beat. She was now confronting the famous Specter of the Square.

  • The sounds of battle began getting louder. Joey turned his walk into a sprint now, flapping his wings and taking off to get the advantage from higher up. He was compelled to investigate the cause of the battle sounds. He remembered all to well his encounter earlier today, and was certain of it that this was the spectre again, targeting yet another pokémon. He wanted to get his revenge on the damn thing for wounding him, and he looked at the ground from his high position. The dark would normally have made it difficult for him to see, but the street lights illuminated the major streets of Pokémon square and gave him vital navigation points during flight.

Now he noticed it. His assumption was proven correct. He noticed the Eevee he saw earlier in battle with the spectre, which had sent out a houndoom. He noticed how the Eevee just managed to dodge and block the attacks of the ghostly figure of the Houndoom, before it dissipiated into thin air. The spectre itself was barely visible to him. The glowing red eyes were about the only things he could make out. He had to go and help her fight the thing, surely she was nuts if she was going to take it all by herself? With that, he flew downwards and landed by the site of battle. "Surely you remember me too from earlier today?" he said with a battle-ready expression on his face.
