  • basically this is the team I've decided to breed and I have two pokemon who I'm going to use and I wanted to build a team around them the two main guys are

    Latios@ Choice specs
    Timid 4hp/252sp.atk/252spd
    Tbolt
Ice beam(redundant coverage with surf but hits psuedo dragons harder might swap for trick)
    Surf
    Draco meteor
cant remember what its hidden power is but its not fire :L

    Garchomp@choice band
    jolly 4hp/252/252
    EQ
    Outrage
    Stone edge
    dragon claw
pretty standard I know garchomp is uber but we make our list based on whats allowed in the battle tower/factory

now here is my dilema I have a few ways I could go and I want to take the best option

if I was to go down the sandstorm route tyranitar would obviously take the 3rd spot

    Tyranitar@leftovers
careful 252hp/4atk/252sp.def(criticism welcomed I never used tyranitar before)
    payback
    stone edge
    super power
    protect

    tyranitar@choice band
    adamant 252 hp/252atk/4sp.def
    stone edge
    earthquake
    pursuit
    crunch/payback

    bronzong(my 2nd favorite after chomp)
    brave 252hp/252atk/4sp.def 0speed ivs @macho brace
    trick
    gyro ball
    EQ
    stealth rock
I like this set because a lot of my friends will expect trick room or stealth rocks and try to taunt me only to be met with a nice gyro ball to the face it has its problems but its usually gets 2 attacks off unless its up against fire(duh)

    Bronzong@leftovers
    bold 252atk/252def/4atk
    stealth rocks
    gyro ball
    EQ
    protect/explosion/trickroom/hypnosis/rest
    bulkier set with leftovers

    dugtrio@focus sash
    adamant 252atk/4sp.def/242 speed
    EQ
    stone edge
    sucker punch
    reversal
arena trap is invaluable deals with heatran, infernape, tyranitar sash is its only item because its so frail

    tentacruel@leftovers
    toxic spikes
    surf/hydro pump
    protect
sludge bomb/rapid spin(friends rarely set up anything)

so those are the 4 pokemon I would add if I decide to go down the sandstorm route some other notable mentions are rhyperior, aerodactyl, gliscor, mamoswine, hippowdon but I have no experience with any of them and they have bad defensive typings

the other route I considered was kind of a hyper offensive team
    gyarados@life orb/mystic water,leftovers
    adamant/jolly 252atk/4def/252 speed or 240hp/252atk/16speed
    waterfall
    dragon dance
    EQ
    stone edge/ice fang/ outrage/bounce/taunt

    infernape@life orb
    hasty 252atk/50sp.atk/208 speed(outspeeds garchomp)
    overheat
    close combat
    stone edge/grass knot/u-turn/mach punch
    taunt/EQ
can be played around with a bit overheat, close combat, stone edge and taunt is probably its best set

bronzong or scizor would be my steel type
the mach brace set I mentioned earlier for bronzong
    scizor@choice band
    252hp/252atk/4sp.def
    bullet punch
    super power
    u-turn
    pursuit/night slash

    or sword dance set
    adamant 4hp/252atk/252 speed @leftovers
    swords dance
    bullet punch
    super power
    substitute
might change around the evs and put some from speed into hp to make sub more viable

    zapdos @leftovers
    timid 192hp/64def/252 speed
    roost
    substitute
    thunderbolt
    toxic
adds a little bulk to the team the 3rd weakness to ice is crippling however and it could easily be replaced by someone else if anyone has any ideas for a really good special sweeper was thinking alakazam/scarf porygonz/rotom-w specs

so yeah I cant decide which way I should go because I cant decide which is better but I'm kinda leaning towards hyper offense because everyone uses sandstorm so I dunno opinions are greatly appreciated :)

  • Ice Beam is redundant with Draco Meteor, not Surf. And Latios is an Uber too, but it's still allowed in the Battle Tower for some reason:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Surf
    -Hidden Power (Fire)/Dragon Pulse
    -Trick
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Specs/Choice Scarf

For the Sandstorm route, Tyranitar has a multitude of sets to choose from. Payback isn't the best option, as there are 'mons slower than Tyranitar that would render Payback ineffecitve:
    -Stone Edge
    -Crunch
    -Pursuit
    -Earthquake/Superpower
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Choice Scarf

    or
    -Stone Edge
    -Crunch
    -Pursuit
    -Aqua Tai/Earthquake
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 180 HP/252 Atk/76 Spe
    Item: Choice Band

    or
    -Dragon Dance
    -Crunch
    -Rock Slide/Stone Edge
    -Fire Punch/Aqua Tail/Earthquake
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Babiri Berry/Lum Berry/Life Orb

    or
    -Stone Edge/Crunch
    -Superpower
    -Pursuit
    -Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Ice Beam
    Nature: Hasty
    EVs: 252 Atk/16 SAtk/240 Spe
    Item: Babiri Berry/Expert Belt

    or
    -Substitute
    -Focus Punch
    -Dark Pulse/Crunch
    -Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Flamethrower
    Nature: Quiet
    EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/176 SAtk/28 Spe
    Item: Leftovers

    or
    -Curse
    -Crunch
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk/Fire Punch
    Nature: Careful
    EVs: 252 HP/40 Def/216 SDef
    Item: Leftovers

    or
    -Flamethrower
    -Ice Beam
    -Dark Pulse/Crunch/Thunderbolt
    -Superpower
    Nature: Hasty/Naive
    EVs: 56 Atk/252 SAtk/200 Spe
    Item: Expert Belt

Either of Bronzong's sets are viable, but why are you using a Bold nature on the second set when it clearly has physical moves? The nature and EV spread for that set should be Sassy with 252 HP/84 Atk/80 Def/92 SDef.

Don't use Hydro Pump on defensive Tentacruel as the low PP and accuracy can bite you in the butt in the long run:
    -Toxic Spikes
    -Rapid Spin
    -Surf
    -Sludge Bomb/Hidden Power (Electric)
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SDef
    Item: Black Sludge
    Ability: Liquid Ooze

    or
    -Rapid Spin
    -Hydro Pump/Surf
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Ice Beam/Toxic Spikes
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb/Black Sludge
    Ability: Liquid Ooze

For the hyper-offensive route, use this for Infernape's set. Don't bother with EQ:
    -Close Combat
    -Overheat/Fire Blast
    -U-turn/Grass Knot
    -Stone Edge/Mach Punch
    Nature: Hasty/Naive
    EVs: 252 Atk/48 SAtk/208 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

    or
    -Fire Blast/Flamethrower
    -Close Combat
    -Grass Knot
    -Hidden Power (Ice)
    Nature: Hasty/Naive
    EVs: 48 Atk/252 SAtk/208 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

Whether you want Bronzong or Scizor depends on whether or not you want to support the team or attack outright. I don't see what purpose Sub has on Scizor, tbh:

    Scizor:
    -U-turn
    -Bullet Punch
    -Superpower
    -Pursuit/Quick Attack
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spe
    Item: Choice Band
    Ability: Technician

    or
    -Swords Dance
    -Bullet Punch
    -Brick Break/Superpower
    -Bug Bite/Roost/Quick Attack
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
    Item: Leftovers/Life Orb
    Ability: Technician

    or
    -Swords Dance
    -Bullet Punch
    -Bug Bite/Superpower
    -Roost
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 252 HP/40 Atk/216 SDef
    Item: Leftovers/Iron Plate
    Ability: Technician

  • Thank's I got confused with the natures in my head I was thinking plus def and bold came to mind first I meant impish but sassy is much better sub on non-choice band scizor is mainly just for scouting status kinda pointless because its so slow but against slower pokemon or if I know my opponent will switch I get the sub up and then I'm safe to swords dance or get off a superpower if i need too against the switched in heatran I think I'm going to run with the offensive route it takes a lot less prediction any comments on the earlier gyarados the ev split is obvious but should I run waterfall, ddance, ice fang,EQ ice/water have nice coverage and earthquake is for empoleon metagross and magnezone and other obvious electric types
this is what Ive decided to run

    latios,garchomp

    Infernape
    overheat
    close combat
    u-turn
stone edge/ mach punch (which would you recommend I can decide between priority and coverage

    ddance gyarados
    waterfall
    ddance
    EQ
    ice fang

    scizor@choiceband
    u-turn
    super power
    bullet punch
pursuit(quick attack doesnt get stab and the only thing it hits that steel cant hit normally is water I think unless fighting resist steel im not sure :L

and for the last spot I need a special sweeper so which do you think is best of these specs raikou,specs/scarf rotom-w,scarf porygon-z,nasty plot azelf, specs jolteon or gengar?
