Advance Map warps acting as staircases

After placing a warp location in a building with the intention to walk through it regularly, the warp is acting like a staircase. My hope was that you would just be able to walk from one area into the next, but instead you come down a staircase from the right, and if you try to walk right, you'll get warped. is this a solvable problem or a feature?
