Since Olivia is a Rock type specialist, any one think that her Tapu will be Rock type?

Maybe the Tapus will be Rock, Water, Electric, and Grass, a homage to the first four (Kanto) Gyms.
I have nothing against the reference but I'd rather they not have specific Types like that since we already have an Electric, Water, and Grass Trial Captain.

Apparently they are a boy, as the official site says his school on it. I was very surprised as well by that.
Can you point out exactly where that's said? All I can find is that Ilmia "graduated from the Trainers' School and is a hero to the students of that school."

  • Silvally: I starting to like this alot because it screams a major plot to me (fake-Arceus manmade vs Arceus god) And Gladion is proving himself to be a badass if he using Silvally as well, which means he will be the rival that using a legendary Pokemon alongside with N.

Kakomo-o and Kommo-o: I was hoping he'll go for more defensive side. The design is appealing to me, but it won't be on my team sadly (not a fan of bulky big Pokemon)

Steenee and Tsareena: I definitely have it on my team. Mangosteen was indeed the Queen of Fruits, why I never thought of that before? Physical grass attacker, but I think Lurantis does the same too (Solar Blade vs Trop Kick here we go), I wonder why introduce 2 same type with the same attack method (Physical)

Ribombee: Cute but it really felt 'weak' like Chimecho line, and no interesting ability to help it, is abit shame.

Olivia: Rock-type Kahuna, finally the Rock-type gets some better treatment after all these years being at first/second gym XD

Ilima: I wonder what Pokemon he has since Gumshoos is a totem Pokemon. I mean in normal cases every gen gym leaders and elite fours (or in this case trial captains and kahunas) ace pokemon are from their own respective gen (Roxanne's Nosepass, Roark's Cranidos, Brock's Onix, Grant's Tyrunt and Amaura). So right now the available candidate for Ilima's ace pokemon is Komala or Pikipek, but Pikipek I rather leave it to Flying trial captain or Kahuna if there's one

Well, it stated "hero" instead of "heroine" XD

  • Ilima appears in Pokémon Sun and Moon as the player's guide to their first trial in Verdant Cavern.
He is a graduate of the Trainers' School and is admired as a hero by the students there.

From Bulbapedia. Not an official source but the translated names would suggest he is male (Altheo, Liam ect).

  • Ah, this is great. Love everything I've seen in this preview, especially the full Bounsweet line. I like that the Muk is made to look like an oil slick.

    Spoiler:

    Tsar + Mangosteen + Ballerina.

Or just a different spelling of tsarina?

  • I do wonder if the Trainer's School would actually play some importance in the story, or whether or not that's just flavour text. I don't think there's anything yet that would suggest your character would be going to school much like Ash would in the anime, but I dunno.

It has been implied that the Trainer's School is required to be cleared to get registered for the Island Challenge, so yes it will have importance to the story.

  • Alolan Muk: I personally find the concept pretty cool, they're probably deprived from spilled oil's reflection;

Alolan Muk and New Characters for Sun and Moon

I'd like to think of Alolan Muks as cleaners whom keep the frequently seen seasides in Alola region clean by eating away the oil spilled from boats and in turn, turned into these vibrant colouring!
EDIT: Opps, I just saw that Esper thought the same thing as me!

Silvally: Need I say more? He's officially my most favourite Pokemon now. I want to turn mine Poison.

Hakamo-o and Kommo-o: Oh, they're definitely going on my team too! Awesome typing, and I love the scales. They look a bit too scrawny though but I'll get by.

Steenee and Tsareena: Not my kind of Pokemon so... bye.

    Ribombee: Another Ledian-like. So... bye.

Olivia: Ah, pretty cool character. Looking forwards to crossing swords with her Rock Pokemon!

Ilima: Am I the only one whom likes his design? That hair colour, he's probably a model in the Alola region.

Dark-type for Alolan Muk makes perfect sense. It looks like an oil spill, and the crystallized trash in its body is a pretty clear reference to pollution as a whole, which ties in with the environmental aspect of Sun/Moon. Also, Dark-type is "Evil"-type in Japanese, so.

Also, Bounsweet is going on my team immediately and I require a plushie of it ASAP. Tsareena is fierce af, though I do low-key wish for it to be Grass/Fairy. I'm not too bothered personally though because it seems likely the Popplio line will pick up Fairy, which is what I'm starting with. Other than that, I might entertain the thought of using Ribombee for a while in-game, but it won't end up on my final team most likely. The other Pokemon reveals today were pretty meh for me, tbh.

Also, is Ilima even confirmed to be a girl? Jw because the article specifies that, but I don't see that evidenced anywhere on the site/trailers. Pretty sure that they're a boy, imo.

  • Dem Legs! {XD}

That shifting color scheme of Alolan Muk makes it so much better. Looks like something out of Mario Sunshine. Jangmo-o and it's evolution's looks so much better in-game. Wasn't too fond of the official art, but I changed my mind.

Ilima and Olivia look great; the character designs this gen have been so good.

Alolan Muk looks much better than I was expecting. The shifting colors is a nice touch. Now, whenever I see oil spots in a parking lot, I'll think of Muk.

    Kommo-o in motion is awesome.

  • Oh man, I love Alolan Grimer and Muk. Super awesome designs for those two. Might want Muk on my team now.

I really love all the new Pokemon revealed for Sun and Moon so far. The designs are really fantastic, and not only for the Pokemon, but for the humans too!

Alolan Muk looks like a big pile of Oil Sludge with that rainbow effect that the Oil do too.

  • Immediately thought of spilled oil when looking at Alolan Muk. Basic, but still a really cool idea. Doubt I'll ever use Grimer's line on my team but I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome, even as someone who was initially unsure about Alolan Grimer since I couldn't tell what it was supposed to be. Ha. Now it's clear!

Olivia is soooo pretty. Like.. I can't even decide who my favorite girl NPC is from this gen anymore. ): /flail

Alolan Muk... so colorful o_o I like the justification but it makes me wonder just what kinda chemicals these things have been absorbing to gain the colors.

Apart from that totally love Steenee and Tsareena. Might be the first time I seriously want to use a Grass type in quite a while.
