  • Whether it's that boss that keeps destroying you or that guy in your party who can't seem to hold his own unless you waste your turns healing him, there's always annoying characters making your game just a little more unbearable.

What are some video game characters you can't stand and why?

For me, i'd have to say I hate Bagular, the main antagonist in Bomberman Hero. His laugh is so damn annoying!

Also, though Final Fantasy X is my favorite game, Tidus is annoying too! "HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

He's just so loud and obnoxious.

But seriously, Navi is up there with some others, but all I can think of is the stupid little blue ball of endless speaking.

  • Saw the thread title and immediately Emil of ToS: Dawn of the New World came to mind. I can deal with him repeating "that" corny line over and over again, but his personality was just unbearable. Constantly complaining and apologizing....lol, I was praying that Lloyd would eventually take over, but to no avail.

  • Tidus is definitely an annoying character for me. Also (although I usually get a bunch of **** for it) I dislike Marle from Chrono Trigger. She's just so bubbly and cheery I...I can't stand her.

Fi from Skyward Sword. I hate her. I hate her so much.

I didn't mind Navi, Tatl, the King of Red Lions, or Midna, all of whom fufil the same purpose of helping our hero Link figure out where to go and what to do. They knew when to shut up, and didn't get in the way.

Fi goes to far. Every few moments, she pops up and babbles to Link about stuff he already knows.

For those of you who have not played the game, the following description is not an exaggeration (or a spoiler, so don't worry about clicking) :
    Spoiler:

Have I mentioned that most of the challenge in this game comes from solving puzzles? Or rather, it is supposed to, but Fi tells you the solution to ever puzzle, so there's actually not much of a challenge at all outside sword-fighting.

She also has an annoying way of speaking. Whenever she talks, it sounds like a bunch of wierd, softly-muted beeps running together. Her dialogue text scrolls by v e r y s l o w l y. She also includes a probability statement in practically everything she says (i.e. there is a 75% probability that there is a large enemy behind this door. There is a 5% probability that this talking penguin is actually Zelda.)

Most of what she says is redundant. When you first enter the Silent Realm, I was glad that she explained to me how it works. The next two times I had to enter the Silent Realm, I wanted to kill her.

At one point, she asks Link if he remembers how to "dowse" for treasure (which the player had spend about a half-an-hour doing in the last area. If you select "yes," she reminds you anyway.

To top it all off, Skyward Sword is a prequal, and Fi turns out to be a spirit living inside the Master Sword. So, even though you don't see her, Fi is retroactively present in every Legend of Zelda game featuring the Master Sword. There is no escaping her.

I managed to stick it out until the end of the game, but two people I know ragequit because of Fi.

Skyward Sword is the worst Nintendo-developed Legend of Zelda game to me, largely because of Fi.

Yeeessss, give in to your anger!

Only one word comes to mind: Navi. I was gonna link an image of Link crushing her in his hand, but I figured I'd get punished some way because of the blood content.

One of the many reasons I hate Sonic Adventure 2 and everything that ever came from it. It introduced Omochao. Think Navi but you have no choice in the matter. Actually, you can hurt if you spin-dash into him, you can pick him up and throw him out of the air locks in ARK and, if you hack the game, you can even have him in your chao garden to abuse him whenever you want. Seriously, did the designers think we were butt-breathing idiots and needed help to know that A is jump? Sonic isn't exactly complicated.

Oh, Navi. Yeah, he can go die too. Also, there's no real rule against graphic imagery as long as it isn't porn. Gonna assume you're talking about this though:

Joshua from The World Ends with You.

    GAAAAAAAH JOSHUA DAMN YOU

I seriously found him annoying during the start of his week. He vastly improved towards the end though. I liked him when the game ended xD

  • Both Navi and Fi were annoying! Thank you, people! (I loved the King of Red Lions, on the other hand).
Also I agree, I didn't like Tidus. Similarly Vaan ticked me off too. And just about every Kingdom Hearts character. I can't pick a single one from that game...

oh, and Franziska Von Karma from Ace Attorney, she was interesting at first BUT GOD WHIPPING AND INTERRUPTING EVERY MINUTE. And "fool".

    Navi has blood?

The King of Red Lions was great because he took me places I wanted to go. Plus, most of the things he interrupted me to say were either really obscure stuff that I wouldn't figure out on my own (put fish bait in front of a hole and rats will come out to trade money for it!) or plot-related.

    Oh, and

Yup, that's the one. But in order for people to truly understand how annoying I and by default, most of the fandom found her to be, I believe this caption is much better. :3

When my friend lent me his 3DS and copy of LoZ: OoT 3D, I was surprised to find that they didn't include a mute option on her. I swear, the bottom of the well was pretty scary on its own, but with Navi spontaneously yapping on at the weirdest, most quiet times of the level, she instantly became an enemy to me. =w=

I really hate the Core Defender in Tiberian Sun...
A robot with loads of HP, and a weapon whicg kills your entire base in a matter of seconds...
It is very hard to kill him...

I'll make a happy list of video game characters that piss me off since there are so many :D!

    >> Omochao from Sonic. Well, basically any helper, tell-me-what-I-don't-know kind of characters, so Navi and Fi fall into this category, too. But holy crap Omochao sucks. Like, he tells me things I could easily just look in the instruction booklet thingy that comes with the game. God.

    >> Nazeem from Skyrim. Yeah, that pretentious douche in Whiterun. I would totally assassinate him with my Khajiit thief-ssassin if there weren't so many... witnesses.

    >> Waluigi from the Mario Series. What purpose does he serve. He's irrelevant.

    >> Tidus from Final Fantasy X and his annoying soprano voice and his AH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH.

    >> Everyone from Final Fantasy XII except for Balthier and Fran. They can stay.

  • Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Worst sidekick in a Zelda game ever.

Not particularly fond of drill sergeant Jamjars from Banjo-Tooie either.

  • I honestly cannot believe I failed to think about Navi when posting this thread. She blows any annoying character straight out of the water. I like the IDEA of Navi, but when it comes to pestering me over some nonsense, that's when my like becomes dislike.

Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII. Or pretty much anyone in the series that fits into that 'obnoxious cheery girl' archetype.

Oh god, Vanille was very annoying. I like her accent, but you're right, she's just far too cheery.

Tidus is definitely an annoying character for me. Also (although I usually get a bunch of **** for it) I dislike Marle from Chrono Trigger. She's just so bubbly and cheery I...I can't stand her.

I actually see where you're coming from with the Marle point. She seems like a bit of an air head.

    >> Everyone from Final Fantasy XII except for Balthier and Fran. They can stay.

Glad to see i'm not the only one who couldn't stand the characters in that game. -_-
Especially Vann. His voice is far too annoying, and he just looks... odd.

Fi from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Worst sidekick in a Zelda game ever.

Not particularly fond of drill sergeant Jamjars from Banjo-Tooie either.

I agree about Fi. Much like Navi, I like the idea of a partner like Fi, but Nintendo just really fails to make a sidekick that doesn't point out the obvious. Fi seemed to be even more guilty of this than any of the other Zelda sidekicks.

I find a lot of things annoying apparently. Hm.
