    Spoiler:

I'm still interested. As long as the anime keeps running, I'm going to keep up with spoilers, as well as the English dub releases. I'm really excited to see how Sun/Moon will turn out for the anime, etc. I'm not stopping just because Ash lost a league, it happens every time, anyway.

What exactly will you be watching with the Sun and Moon anime? The Sun and Moon games nixed the Pokémon Gym concept and the Pokémon Leagues as well, which essentially means Ash is going to be aimless in Alola. As bad as Unova was, at least he HAD a league to challenge during that time, and Gym Leaders to face, Alola doesn't. That just makes the sting that was the results of the Kalos league even worse. At least past regions had a new league to look forward to, this doesn't, reinforcing how Ash's loss in Kalos was just completely pointless.

And like I said, at this rate, probably the only thing right now that will even keep me looking forward to the new series is a potential return for Misty, especially given some hints being dropped such as the GEM series merchandising for Misty, the choice of setting for Generation VII, it being the 20th anniversary of the anime soon, and the like. If the writers screw even THAT up by not having Misty appear at all, I'll just be even more infuriated.

You are literally trashing the Sun/Moon anime before it's even been begun lol. You don't know what they're gonna do so stop bitching about it lmao.

You really need to let the Misty thing go as well. I would LOVE for Misty to return for Alola but she won't. Let's just be realistic about it. If she does then hey, I'll admit I was wrong. But you're really acting as if it's confirmed and that she's definitely coming.

    --

Anyway. I will always be interested in the anime. I grew up with this show and it's really hard to just "not" watch it. Sure some seasons bore me (Johto/Unova) but I still look in on them, I'm excited for the rest of Kalos and for what Sun/Moon will bring.

When it's made clear that the games are no longer even going to have Gym Battles or Pokémon Leagues, at least for Generation VII, then yes, I have EVERY reason to trash the Sun and Moon anime ESPECIALLY after the disaster that was the Kalos League where Ash lost and doesn't even have the hope of regaining any chances in Alola to achieving his goal since I know that the anime will most likely mirror the games in this respect, based on how they dropped the Pokémon Contests element with narely even a word of their existence come BW and XY. If there are no Gyms, Gym Leaders, or Pokémon Leagues in Alola in the games, how the heck is Ash even supposed to pursue his goal, especially when it's been emphasized that he needs to challenge Gyms, participate in the leagues, and come DP also need to formally fight the Elite 4 and Champion before he can become a Pokémon Master. Heck, I don't even need to watch the upcoming anime to figure that out: Just look at what happened once Black and White dropped Pokémon Contests altogether: It got reflected in the anime by not giving Iris even a slightly similar goal to Pokémon Contests, and even with Serena, they didn't make her a coordinator at all.

As far as Misty, they released GEM series figures of her just a couple of months ago, way too early for the 20th Anniversary of the Anime (which those figurines were clearly geared towards), they specifically chose a region to be based on Hawaii rather than someplace like, say, China, or even the Midwest or Russian, or the African Savannah even, the fact that Alola's set to debut just shortly before the 20th Anniversary of the Anime is to begin, and there's the fact that in one of the Team Rocket Radio specials, they have Ash and Misty saying they will see each other again; and that's not even getting into Misty showcasing an envelope with Misty on it regarding a fan letter. I find it hard to believe with all of that that they AREN'T bringing her back, especially when the games seem to really love Misty's anime characterization (to the extent that with FRLG and HGSS, they actually included various nods to her anime characterization and even modeled her personality after that, something not even Brock got).

Fine, fine. I'll keep my mouth shut on this, even if I simply cannot understand how to hold a discussion without it being a right answer/wrong answer due to it being ingrained in me from my time at school. I've said enough on the subject.

I haven't watched the anime in a long while and all I did was just reading the summaries and fan reactions of it, so I'll just be casually interested in it.

Its too early to say as we don't know anything about the Sun/Moon anime yet. I'll likely check out the first few episodes at least.

Hopefully the next female companion battles, but I'm afraid if its Mallow she'll essentially be a grass-type version of Misty/Iris and not do much in the saga other than guide Ash through those island trials. Its pretty obvious having a female lead who only has one type of pokemon doesn't work too well, and Misty and Iris don't get much focus as any of the main female protagonist girls, so I may not be too interested. I have no interest in seeing another supporting female lead like Misty or Iris going forward.

Maybe, but then again, given the right circumstances and environment, they may actually get quite a bit of focus. Besides, at least they got more focus overall than Brock did. And I wouldn't say that Misty didn't do much. She did a lot more than Brock did. And besides, until DP introduced the concept of the Champion League, we didn't really have any real information about Ash's goal (we only knew that Ash had to challenge gyms and leagues, that's it, we weren't even certain whether winning a league would even have Ash complete his goal thanks to his continuing his journey in spite of his winning the Orange Islands), so if anything, Misty got the lion's share of development regarding her goal and character compared to not only Brock, but even Ash.

^ But, I don't care. I specifically said I don't want a girl who is a type specialist. Mallow is confirmed to be a grass type specialist in the games and if she's an anime main character that's what she'll be. And I have no interest in that again.

Why do you have to respond to every single thing people say to disagree with them?

Fine, I'll keep quiet. Though isn't alternate viewpoints the point of having a discussion? You can't simply "agree" to have a discussion, after all (heck, I tried to be respectful in my disagreements). Either way, even you have to agree that a specialist trainer's at least better than breeder or connoseur, or even pop idol in the case of Serena, since at least they actually train their Pokémon.

Anyways, my main problem is that Ash most likely has nothing to do to actually advance his goal in Alola. Yes, we don't have much information on the Sun and Moon anime, but we do know from past regions that they try to incorporate the core gameplay of the games into the plot, which means if the core gameplay doesn't have gyms or a league, most likely the Anime won't have that either. That's bad especially considering what happened at Kalos recently.

I actually do like trainers specialised in one type, like Misty. I didn't liked to see Brock or Iris with Pokémon whose type isn't with what the trainer specialise. Iris having Dragonite and Gible make me happy even if she only got the Dragon and Flying Pok because she is champion in Black2/White2.

If Mallow only gets Grass types it isn't something that affects me, more on the contrary. But I want also Ash to have atleast one aswell.

Unova was what got me back into pokemon in general so yeah. I am still interested. I didn't see a problem with Ash finishing 2nd. That is where I wanted him to finish. I said that from the very start of XY.

I don't get salty or upset if something doesn't happen unless it is extremely dumb. Very much was the way during Ash's 4th Gym Battle in Unova. Wanting to to sweep a gym with one pokemon was just a dumb idea. But it did throw us back in time for when we tried to do the same thing and we lost horribly over and over and over again.

I am more interested in the story than the actual outcome. Nothing can compared to how bad Kanto League ended. And although Ash lost in Unova to a trainer that didn't even know the rules of a League, at least he finished in the Top 8.

Not to mention that the Pokemon Alola Anime is going to be vastly different from what we are used to.

I never got why "fans" get so angry about it. The anime is not even for them but 6 to 12 year olds. If they want to watch that is fine but complaining is just silly. Plus isn't every series it's own thing and not really supposed to connect with past series?

    Yes, Island Trials sound fun.
I wish they would replace Ash with Serena though.
Replace Ash with Serena!!!??? You're kidding, right?

First of all, let me correct the viewpoint of some people who are under the incorrect conception of this thread being a place for debating the faults made by the creators of the Pokémon anime. This thread is for discussing whether YOU are going to be watch anime any further, or not.
As for my part, I am okay with Mallow being a type specialist. Misty was one, and she was the best gal we ever have had in the anime. Iris was one, and she eventually attained the status of the Champion of Unova! And, I hope this Mallow gets a jubiliant personality, not one like May, who seemed to be falling for a cheap guy like Drew.
SM anime is gonna be great, so stop sulking about it, people:-P! I'm looking forward to the Island Trials, Ash's pokemon, his rivals and last, but not the least, all the fun created by his travelling companions. Unova's trio was not at all funny, with Iris calling Ash a baby, and Ash gritting his teeth in response. Bianca was funny, but her occurance was pretty rare. Brocko' was the best of all with Bonnie, and Clemont's inventions being no less in the list.

I'll still watch anime for sure, but mainly just for the sake of seeing animated Pokemons with personalities, I may take a liking towards them and try to use them in-game, which tends to happen alot.

Many people think that Mallow will be the companion of Ash thanks to the leak, and as a Grass-type lover I absolutely welcome Mallow! She will be most likely be the chef of the Ash group, and according to the info about Mallow on the website, "her cooking taste is a bit particular..." I wonder what gimmick will she pull out in the anime XD

Erm... It's just my minor opinion that I wish the main character in Alola will switch to Alain and Mairin cause I want them to have more screentime, especially Mairin she never really did anything so far in the anime. And maybe Alain can redeem himself in Alolan Region. It won't happen I know, but sometimes I'm just tired of Ash lol, although he looks better in XY saga than BW saga.

I'm only interested in Seasons 1-5 of the anime if I'm honest. I've been watching it from the start again over the last few months and I decided to give Advanced a go and while I'm enjoying it, the show isn't what it used to be so I'll see it through to the end of Advanced then stop.

i remember trying to watch the xy anime when it first came out and serena threw me right off it. i personally found her extremely annoying and forced and i fail to understand why people like her so much. i'm not dissing for liking her i just dont see why she's enjoyable.
for the 5ish episodes i saw i did like bonnie and clemont though. i was never a big fan of may and max, because i couldn't find their interactions as funny as bonnie and clemonts.

i could write about every series why i could never get into each one besides the original and the 2nd/3rd series of diamond and pearl as a kid, but i'd be here forever. i'd love to watch the anime more but there's always 1 character that throws me off.

if mallow does end up being part of alola, i really hope she's more like misty and iris than dawn or may. i want her to be antagonistic and cheeky, not cutsey, super nice and friendly.
