Um. Is the Beldum you get after the E4 at steven's house supposed to battle for you to tell if it's shiny? Or is it avalible right when you look at it's status? I saved in front of the pokeball and got an Adamant one after alot of tries, so i'm pretty sure it's Nature is not preset. Edit: Just to be clear, this is Emerald. (Not about the move, I know Emerald is an advanced Gen game).

So is it going to be shiny right when you look at it's stats? Or does it have to engage into a battle for you to see if it's shiny? Because that was the question. And I got a a reply pretty fast.

No, you do not need to go into a battle to see if it's a shiny. If it's a shiny, it's a shiny.

Actually, I've got a similar question. Suppose I want an Armaldo with a Careful nature. Is the Nature determined as soon as you pick up the Claw Fossil, or is it only set upon resurrection?

The nature is set when the scientist gives the Anorith back to you.
