It was time for the second part of the battle to begin, and the audience were going wild for a battle. Things were going so well for Sean, he kept getting closer and closer to victory. As for Robert, victory was all he could take.
Sean was thinking of his next Pokemon to use. There were only a couple of them that had not been used in the last battle, and both of them happened to be the same type, just one was a couple of levels lower than the other. Plus, they were Sean's bestest. His decision was made.
"I'm ready! Come on out, Flareon!" Sean threw the ball to the rocky ground, and Flareon had zapped out of the PokeBall. It was on its feet, and its tail pushed back, looking as if it was highly energetic and hyper. Great for Sean.
Now it was time for Robert to think of his Pokemon to use. The decision was quickly made, as since Flareon was a Fire-type, he had a strong way to combat this.
"Ah hah! YUou won't be so lucky this time! Do your best, Rhyhorn!" the rocky rhino was released of the PokeBall and onto the rocky battlefield. The Rhyhorn looked as if it was about to charge, as it was heavily breathing and looking rather aggressive.
Things were going to be so hard for Sean, as there were no attacks that Flareon could not use that would not be halved, since Rhyhorn was a Rock-type and would not be so affected by Fire-type and Normal-typed attacks. Nontheless, Sean knew that if you never give up then you could win. He was going to begin, feeling totally fearless.
"I see what you're doing and it won't matter! Flareon, start off with Tackle!" while it was not Flareon's strongest attack and it was going to be halved in damage, Flareon was several levels higher than Rhyhorn and that was what could possibly give Flareon that little advantage that it needed. Flareon started to brush one of its feet across the ground, leaving scratch marks, and then it pushed its body back. Then, Flareon took off at a lightning speed, rushing across the distance between them. Rhyhorn's eyes were narrowing as it watched Flareon get closer, beofre then getting charged at by Flareon's rather small, yet tough body. The attack was not so strong, and it felt like a punch in the arm for Rhyhorn. Not so tough.
"Oh, it will matter indeed." Robert was more sure than the last battle, and could see himself winning. Although, Sean had an idea in his mind. In the mean time, Robert made his move.
"Rhyhorn, use Horn Attack!" the attack was pretty much the same damage as Tackle, only this time the damage would not be halved since there was no resistance involved. Plus, the sharpness of Rhyhorn's horn was a big bonus of damage. Right away, Rhyhorn's incredibly heavy body had charged to Flareon, with its horn pointed right towards Flareon's small body. Then, right away, Rhyhorn's horn had shoved Flareon and forced it back a little bit, before getting back up onto its four legs. Flareon couldn't breathe for a couple of seconds as the horn hit the stomach, but afterwards Flareon was okay.
"This should be no problem." Robert was sure of what he was doing, but Sean was in denial.
"Oh, don't be so sure." he was speaking his mind, hoping that Robert was telling a lie. Sean knew of the best thing to do next.
"Flareon, use Ember!" while this attack would be halved again since it was a Fire-typed attack, Ember was slightly stronger than Tackle. There was also that little chance of a burn being caused, and that would be the best possible outcome as damage would be dealt each turn to Rhyhorn if this would happen. Flareon opened its mouth and there was a bright orange flame growing inside its throat, and then once it was hot enough, this ball was released into the air and over to Rhyhorn. This flame had quickly ended up slapping Rhyhorn over the face and part of the back of the neck, and had left some scorching ashes. However, not only ashes were left. There was a wisp on its neck that was growing slightly, and made Rhyhorn go crazy. The Ember had left the best thing that Sean could want, a burn. Robert was horrified, and had to do something fast.
"What the?! Rhyhorn! Use Tail Whip!" this time, since Rhyhorn was slowly being weakened, Robert wanted to counter with a Tail Whip to weaken Flareon and make it less defensive. Rhyhorn reacted fast as the burn had made it more energetic - it charged quickly towards Flareon, before jumping up and slapping its rocky, spiky tail across Flareon's face. The attack had made Flareon sweat for a couple of moments, as the TailWhip made Flareon less defensive.
"You can't be serious! Tail Whip against a burn? That's not going to do that much." Sean overlooked Robert's startegy.
"Don't bet on it. You'll take it back later." Robert was sure of himself, just before turning to Rhyhorn and seeing that the flame on its neck was growing, and left more sparks onto Rhyhorn, making it feel really painful. Sean liked this scenario.
"Yeah, sure I will. Flareon, use Quick Attack!" Sean pointed to Rhyhorn and Flareon looked. Once again, this was a Normal-typed move so the attack would not be as strong, but none of the attack would so there would be no difference made if he used any other attack. Flareon pushed its body back and zoomed off to Rhyhorn, attacked it, and came back in the exact same second. Rhyhorn was shocked by the attack, and the shock was what did the damage. However, it was still able to keep itself strong.
"Face it, none of your attack aren't going to work." Robert shook his head and smiled, looking as if he knew everthing.
"And that's why your Pokemon is the one with the burn!" Sean had a comeback, which left Robert speechless. He knew what to do next.
"Watch this! Rhyhorn, use Stomp!" this was probably Rhyhorn's second most strongest attack, Rhyhorn's strongest was being saved until the end when the time was best. Right away, Rhyhorn charged off again, rumbling the ground each time it hit the ground. Then, when Rhyhorn was only a few inches away from Flareon, Flareon jumped to the side to quickly avoid Rhyhorn. Since it was travelling too fast, it was too late for Rhyhorn to stop, and it liften one foot after jumping to then stamp the foot on the ground and cause a big shake in the ground, and then leave a crack. The audiance gasped in shock of the ground. Flareon was not hurt one bit, and the attack was avoided. Robert was annoyed.
"What?!" he couldn't believe this. The battle was totally in Sean's favour, but things could change any moment. For now, Sean knew his next move. A move already used.
"Good job! Now, use Tackle!" while being used before and not being so good the first time around, Sean was feeling lucky this time and felt like this time, the attack was going to be serious. While Flareon was getting ready to run, Rhyhorn looked as if it was shaking itself in pain as the burn on the back on its neck was taking a serious toll on itself. Sean smiled, and then saw Flareon rush off across the ground. Right away, Flareon took an even bigger body charge on top of Rhyhorn, with much more intense power than before. The attack had hurt much more, as Rhyhorn made a yell afterwards showing that it had enough and it was going to take no more.
It was just about half way through the battle and Sean was well in the lead, but Robert was determined to change this.
"Rhyhorn, fight back with Horn Attack!" it was the first attack used once again and this time, he felt just about as lucky. And right now, luck was exactly what he needed. Straight away, Rhyhorn charged towards Flareon with its pointy horn aimed at Flareon's body. Then, Rhyhorn had stabbed Flareon with its sharp horn and this time the damage was more painful - though, Flareon stood back up quickly and felt better, which wasn't good enough for Robert. The attacks weren't going as well as they could, even to his standards.
"Why isn't it working?!" Robert couldn't understand why Sean was so in the lead when he had been doing better attacks than him, but Sean could understand.
"Because." Sean didn't have a reason, it was just pure luck and how much determination between Sean and Flareon. The burn on Rhyhorn's neck was getting worse, there were noticable rashes that were being caused. The painw as almost bring Rhyhorn to the floor, but it wasn't done in yet. Sean was going to take the battle further.
"Use Ember!" this was the attack that got Rhyhorn burnt, and perhaps if the Ember was aimed at the burn, it could be more painful and the flame would rise. Flareon lifted its head, trying to aim for the burn and then charged up a flame within its throat and then shot out this flame across the air and had immediately smacked Rhyhorn's burn. This indeed did have a very high impact on the burn, and the flame had probably began to combust. There was a slight bang of sparks, making everyone jump. Rhyhorn made the loudest yelp ever, and Robert was nervous.
"Okay... what can I do..." he was thinking to himself in nerves and stress, the battle was only turning for the worst for him, and he had no clue what to do next.
"Alright. Rhyhorn, try and use Stomp again!" this time, Robert's fingers were tight crossed that Flareon would not avoid the attack this time as things were wrong as they were. Rhyhorn took off at a quick speed, while once again tremoring the ground each time Rhyhorn took one hit to the ground as it got closer towards Flareon. Then, when it was a few inches away, Flareon once again jumped to a side, relieving Sean as the Stomp looked like it would hurt, leaving Rhyhorn to conce again Stomp the ground. This time, Rhyhorn got its foot stuck in the ground. It took a couple of seconds to pull back out, and when it did it heavily breathed.
"How... do... you... do this..?" Robert was absolutely stumped to how good Flareon was at being stealthful. Sean laughed and continued.
"Hahaha. Flareon, use Quick Attack." another attack, and Sean was confident that things were only going to get better, if that was even possible. Things were looking brilliant, and just a couple more moves could finish Rhyhorn off. It just goes to show that type doesn't matter as long as one Pokemon is stronger than the other. Flareon pushed its body back, to then quickly shot off at a very quick speed it was invisible. Flareon hit Rhyhorn, and shocked it so bad it was tumbled to the ground, taking lots of damage from shock, the hit, the burn and by hitting the ground. Rhyhorn struggled to get up, as it stretched its legs, trying to stand upright. Eventually, it did, but that didn't matter. The damage taken made Rhyhorn stumble. Now it was time for Robert to go OTT with Rhyhorn's most strongest attack, and one that was super effective against Fire-types. This one could save the battle for himself, and was strong enough to even knock out Flareon, all depending on the power.
"Okay, you've shown me up enough now, and it's getting annoying. Let's see how you can handle this. Rhyhorn, use Earthquake!" some of the audiance gasped in suspense, but believe it or not, Sean had never seen this attack, but he certainly thought it sounded dangerous. Rhyhorn stood up for a moment, and then, took one massive hit to the ground, leaving a strong pulse in the ground that caused rocks on the field to flip, and the audience to scream in shock. The pulse had then shocked Flareon, and tripped it up. Then, this Earthquake had caused severe chock to Flareon and kept pushing and forcing it to the ground. Once the Earthquake stopped, the battle had turned its tables and Earthquake had taken atleast half of Flareon's health away, but now atleast they were both pretty much close to getting knocked out. Sean had only one thing left to do, as he took one more look at Rhyhorn's burn.
"Okay, Flareon, use Ember one final time and aim it for Rhyhorn's burn!" after seeing the fluke of the last time when the burn combusted, when properly aimed the attack would hurt, and possibly cause Rhyhorn to fall to the ground. Right away, Flareon stood back up after the painful Earthquake and charged up one final flame inside its throat, before then shooting the flame out, aiming towards the scorching burn on Rhyhorn's back. The flame quickly hit the burn, and caused the burn to fly all over the body, and made Rhyhorn yelp even louder in shock, and then crash to the ground in pain, and then the burn faded as Rhyhorn was knocked out of the battle.
"W-hay!" Sean cheered as he was in the lead once again, as two parts of the battle had been won. As for Robert, well, he was distraught. He had only one Pokemon left to use.
"Hmmph." he returnedRhyhorn into the PokeBall and had a slight pause for thought. Sean also returned Flareon, and then looked forward to the next part. The audience were cheering for Sean, and Natasha was over the moon to see him doing so well. Sean was confident.

OOC: All the battles feel short...is it just me? The post itself is actually pretty long, but the battles feel so short...what do you think?

Sam walked out of his room. It was time for the drawing of the second round matches and he wanted to see who he was paired with and where. Walking into the room, he saw Professor Maple. Walking up the stairs, he said, "Hey, Professor Maple."

"Hm? Oh! Sam. What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Waiting for my pairing and field. Why're you here?" Sam asked.

"I got a new assistant to watch the ranch. He was so qualified...almost over qualified..." Maple said.

"It doesn't make sense...hm...I wonder if my pokemon are safe...Veno...Gyara...Iggly..." Sam whispered.

"Oh, they'll be fine...and if they're not, he's fired," Maple said.

"...alright, but if anything goes wrong, he's gonna have me to mess with," Sam said.

"Hm...alright. Oh! The matches are coming up..." she said. Sure enough, matches started appearing. Looking down the ice field, he found Warren's name. That would be interesting, though he wouldn't have time to watch. He'd have his own match. The draws for the water field appeared. Running his vision down the field's setup, he found his name.

"Hm...I'm on the water field. Well, gotta get going. Got a few things to do, such as power up my team..." Sam said.

"Good luck," Maple said, continuing to look at the screen. Sam knew she had four trainers going in and only three remained after Jasper, but he didn't know the third. Oh well, no time to think about it now.

He walked out of the stadium, which he instantly realized to be different from his last arena. First, there were no walls, just water. Perfect for water types...or types that could make it work. Sam quickly realized he had forgotten something. Walking back outside, he sent out Onix and Cloy.

"Hey, guys. I just got some stuff and I think they're meant for you. Cloy, you're first since you're up next..." Sam said, taking out Poison Jab. Sticking it on Cloy's head, the energy flowed in until the disc cracked. Out of habit, Sam grabbed the pieces.

"Now you, Onix," Sam said. Onix lowered his head. Sam pulled out the TMs Gyro Ball and Dig. Sticking them on Onix's head, energy flowed into Onix at a much higher rate. The discs broke and Sam caught them. Now he was ready.

"Okay...return," Sam said. He knew that Onix wasn't going to be a choice in this round, but having that done felt good. Walking in once more, he was greeted by a ref this time.

    "You Sam Saruno?" he asked.

"The one and only," Sam said, taking a bow.

"You're up. Now, have you picked your three pokemon?" he asked.

    "No. I adapt," Sam said.

"Very well. Good luck and you will be on the green podium," the ref said, walking away. Sam walked forward towards the podium. As soon as he stepped on, it started to rise. As soon as he got up, he was greeted by a friendly face.

    "Are you Sam?" he asked.

"Yep. You my opponent?" Sam asked in reply.

"Yep. The name's Ian. I saw your last match, great job!" the boy said.

"Heh, thanks. Didn't see yours, but you must've been good if you made it here," Sam said.

"Thanks. So...fair match, no hard feelings no matter who wins?" Ian asked.

"I wouldn't fight any other way. Looks like its about time to start..." Sam said, sighting the ref stepping up.

"Sam, are you ready to battle?" he asked.

"When am I not?" Sam yelled back.

"Ian, are you ready for battle?" the ref asked, looking the other way.

    "Of course!" he yelled.

"Then let the match begin!" he yelled.

    "Goldeen!" Ian yelled.

    "Cloy!" Sam yelled.

Two pokemon appeared in the water. One big oyster-like pokemon and a small goldfish-like one.

"So...are you both ready?" the ref asked again?

    "NEVER MORE!" both yelled.

"Let the match begin!" he yelled.

"Go! Use Water Pulse!" Sam yelled.

"Oh come on! Show 'em a real Water Pulse!" Ian yelled in reply. The attacks flew through the water then collided, causing an underwater explosion. Both pokemon flew backwards, but neither appeared to be injured.

    "Hm...dead even?" Ian asked.

"Looks like it...that's gonna be useless for now, huh? Well, time to get to work! Let's use Icicle Spear!" Sam yelled. Cloy fired several icicles at Goldeen, who was still shaking off the explsion. Goldeen was hit, knocking it back into a wall.

"Hm...not bad, not bad at all. Attacks move slower under here, huh?" Ian said.

"Yeah...this is gonna be good! Use Tackle!" Sam yelled.

"Horn Attack!" Ian yelled in reply. The attacks collided, but Cloy's shell was open, leaving him exposed. Cloy was hit in his face, the pearl inside.

"Hm...looks like your moves aren't slowed down since they're physical...interesting..." Sam whispered. He was thinking about how to stop this combo. Goldeen was fast, there was no doubting that, but Sam could think of a few ways to take them out. The easiest was to stall its speed with obsticles...Toxic Spikes would be great...

"Let's go! Use Toxic Spikes!" Sam yelled.

"Crap..." Ian whispered. The spikes flew out, flating freely in the water.

"You gonna be able to get through that?" Sam asked.

"Ha! I've got a better idea! Go with Water Pulse!" Ian yelled. The burst of water pulled Sam's spikes to him, but he expected this. Goldeen would have to get its balance again, which would be his opportunity.

"Now's our chance! Poison Jab!" Sam yelled.

"Wait, what?!" Ian yelled. Cloy flew forward the horn on its head now purple. Goldeen was still flailing trying to get its balance back. Cloy flew forward, ramming it with its horn.

    "No...Goldeen!" Ian yelled.

"You underestimated me...every move has its own benifits and draw backs...that's what I'm learning here. GO! Water Pulse!" Sam yelled. Cloy's larger weight made it move very little when launching a blast of water of its own. It hit Goldeen, knocking it backwards at a wall.

"Let's finish it with Toxic Spikes, then Water Pulse!" Sam yelled. Cloy launched a fresh batch of spikes then fired them at Goldeen with Water Pulse. Goldeen was hit with several, injuring it badly.

"Interesting...good combo there. Goldeen is injured...but not out! Supersonic!" Ian yelled. Goldeen's eyes opened as a burst of sound flowed through the water. Cloy instantly started shaking and randomly tackling the ground.

    "What the heck...?" Sam asked.

"This is my ace move, Supersonic! It makes your pokemon confused so I can get in easy attacks! Horn Attack!" Ian yelled. Goldeen flew forward, ramming Cloy over and over with its horn. Cloy seemed to feel it but wasn't able to pick out its place.

"Cloy, just snap out of...whoa!" Sam yelled. A powerful emotion of hate and anger passed through his system, but was instantly gone. Sam knew what it was. The evil personatlity...it was back. He could keep it under check for now...but it was stronger than before.

"You okay?" Ian asked, realizing Sam had just had something happen.

    "Yeah...fine. Just dizzy..." Sam whispered.

    "Alright...shall we continue?" Ian asked.

"Y...yeah. Let's go! Snap out of it!" Sam yelled. Cloy shook its head, then its pupils grew again. It was fine now.

"Hm...not bad...well, let's go! Once more, Horn Attack!" Ian yelled.

"Use Poison Jab!" Sam yelled. The attacks collided in the water, kicking up countless bubbles. When they cleared, Goldeen was floating at the top. Cloy was floating, injured, in the water.

"Cloyster wins the round! Goldeen is knocked out!" the ref said.

"Interesting. Good combo, Sam!" Ian said.

"You too! You did really well there!" Sam said back.

"Ian, send out your next pokemon," the ref said.

    "Let's do it...Staryu!" Ian yelled.

"A Staryu, huh? This should be good...keep going!" Sam yelled. The ref took this as Sam's agreement to continue.

    "BEGIN!" he yelled.

"Show it! Water Pulse!" Sam yelled. A bust of water flew forward and hit Staryu immediatly, knocking it backwards. It hit a wall, but it floated back, ready for action.

"We're gonna do this right! Camoflauge!" Ian yelled. Staryu was still a second, but then he suddenly dissapeared.

"Hm...insteresting move...I'm not gonna be able to find you...well, only one thing to do...set up for a pokemon that can...Aurora Beam!" Sam yelled. Cloy nodded and launched several beams of colorful energy up at the surface, freezing into platforms.

"Hm...that's gonna be trouble, but whatever. Tackle!" Ian yelled. Staryu suddenly was visible again. It flew forward, crashing into Cloy. Cloy flew back about 2 feet, but it wasn't going to go down that easily. This was going to be an open mine field.

"Use Toxic Spikes!" Sam yelled. About one hundred small, purple spikes flew out across the arena.

"Finish it, now!" Ian yelled. Staryu flew in for one final attack. Cloy was instantly knocked out, floating to the top of the water.

"Hm..." Sam hummed. That was a bit...easy for Ian. Cloy had taken a lot of damage, but Sam could've sworn it wasn't that bad.

"Cloyster is knocked out! Staryu is the winner! The round goes to Ian!" the ref said. Ian smiled, then Sam did too. It had been a good matchup.

"Good work there, Ian!" Sam yelled over.

"You too! Cloy's really strong!" Ian yelled back. Both were enjoying this match.

"Well...time for my next pokemon...I wonder...Umbre!" Sam yelled. Umbre flew out of its pokeball in a jet of black.

"I'll keep going...this should be good!" Ian yelled.

"Very well then. Let the match continue!" the ref yelled.

"Go! Water Gun!" Ian yelled. Staryu flew out of the water and fired a burst of water at Umbre, who was exposed on the ice. Sam, however, knew that this wasn't much of a limit here, as Umbre had its ways.

"Psychic to grab Staryu and the attack!" Sam yelled. Umbre glowed blue as both the water and the pokemon producing it were grabbed by invisible energy.

"Now shoot the water back onto it at high speed, then get it on the ice!" Sam yelled. Umbre shot the water back on Staryu, knocking it onto a piece of ice. It was locked down at this point.

"Now let's hit it! Iron Tail!" Sam yelled. Umbre flew off the ice as the small blue barrier around Staryu dissapeared. Umbre flew down tail first, hitting Staryu dead on. The ice exploded under then as Umbre expertly flew back to the ice piece it was previously on.

"Hm...your Umbreon's so fast!" Ian said, amazed by Umbre's speed.

"Yep...Umbre's like lightning. Now watch its speed! Confuse Ray!" Sam yelled. Umbre caused a light to appear out of its eyes. This light appeared to fly through the water, as Staryu started to freak out when it got there. It started to slam against the walls, similar to what Cloy did previously. The status was helpful, but only when it worked.

"Well, let's do this! Use Psychic to toss it on the other ice!" Sam yelled. Umbre glew, then tossed Staryu up on the ice platform. This snapped it out of confusion, but Ian was the only one to notice. He planned to use this to his maximum advantage.

"Finish it off with Iron Tail!" Sam yelled.

"Hm..." Ian hummed. This was his chance. He just had to wait. Umbre flew in at top speed, when Ian reacted.

"Let's do it with Rapid Spin!" he yelled. Staryu starting spinning quickly, causing Umbre's tail to slip. She fell in the water.

"Damn it! How did it snap out of it?!" Sam yelled.

"Your little smashing attack kinda screwed that...yeah. Good in theory, but..." Ian said.

"True, true...but now I'll...crap. Can't really do anything..." Sam said quietly. He realized that this was a bad spot, but there was probably something he could do. Staryu was going to destroy Umbre in the water unless he figured out how to escape. Still, he'd have to think it out.

"Well, let's go! Use a spinning tackle!" Ian yelled. Staryu jumped into the water and flew at Umbre, knocking it underwater.

"Crap..." Sam whispered. Umbre was stuck at this point. He knew ways to fix this now. He had to get Umbre out. With Staryu there, his only choice was to use Psychic, but Umbre couldn't hear him.

"Get it with Water Gun above water, then Rapid Spin!" Ian yelled. Staryu fired a burst of concentrated water at Umbre, knocking her out of the water, then flew up and hit her hard.

"Now's our chance! Psychic to carry yourself onto the ice!" Sam yelled. Umbre suddenly was lifted out of the water by invisible force, causing it to land softly on the ice.

"Crap...you got out of that one, huh?" Ian said.

"Yeah...and now I'm gonna finish it! Use Pursuit!" Sam yelled. Umbre coated itself in darkness and charged forward.

"Go get it with Tackle!" Ian yelled. Staryu flew out of the water. The attacks collided in midair, causing both to fly backwards to where they were previously. Umbre faltered, but stood strong. Staryu stayed perfectly still.

"Grr...RECOVER!" Ian yelled. Staryu started to gather energy, but then that stopped and it started to sink.

"The winner of this round is Sam!" the ref yelled. Ian recalled his pokemon.

"Yes! We did it!" Sam yelled to Umbre. She simply smiled, then looked at Ian.

"Hm...you've done really well up until now, but you're finished now! Gyarados!" Ian yelled, throwing out his final pokeball. A huge, blue dragon-like pokemon appeared. It looked furious and reminded Sam of Gyara back at Maple's lab.

"Hm...interesting pokemon...this is gonna be really fun...I'll keep with Umbre!" Sam yelled.

"Very well...let the round begin!" the ref yelled. This was it, he could win this round. Sam knew he could, but this wasn't going to be easy with how strong Gyarados were.

"Well then! Let's use Bite!" Ian yelled.

"Get off it fast with Quick Attack!" Sam yelled. Umbre quickly avoided a powerful attack that shattered the ice.

"Hm...such strength...we're gonna have to keep them sealed up if we need to use them in the future...Psychic to hold the ice together!" Sam yelled. Umbre and the ice glowed blue as the ice started to form back into a platform.

"Use another attack...Tackle!" Ian yelled. Gyarados flew out of the water at Umbre, knocking it into the water once more.

    "Gr...that's rather annoying..." Sam said.

    "Now use Thrash!" Ian yelled.

"Use Psychic to seal all the ice together!" Sam yelled. Umbre focused once more, causing all the ice to seal into a small island.

"Hm...finish it!" Ian yelled. Gyarados thrashed up and down, constantly crushing Umbre.

"Come on! Pursuit!" Sam yelled. Umbre coated itself in dark energy, then kicked off Gyarados's tail and hit it in the face.

"Ouch...that's gonna hurt...FINISH IT! Dragon Pulse!" Ian yelled. Gyarados fired a bust of power out of its mouth, crushing Umbre against the pool's bottom.

"Crap...you've been beaten..." Sam said quietly, returning Umbre. It flew back into the pokeball as Sam decided that this was it. Pika's turn.

"Sam, send out your next pokemon," the ref said.

"Pika!" Sam yelled. He threw out a pokeball, sending out his final pokemon. It was on the ice, ready to battle.

"This is it, then? The final battle?" Ian asked.

"I guess so...well, let's finish this up! Thundershock!" Sam yelled. Pika shot a bolt of electricity dea forward, but Gyarados just ducked under it.

"Crap..." Sam whispered. This wasn't good. Pika's attacks didn't hit while it was in the water. Wait...water? This was too easy...or so he thought.

"Come on! Thunder Wave!" Sam yelled. Pika let out a burst of electricity. It flowed across the ice and into the water. Sure enough, it flowed through the water quickly, hitting Gyarados. It stopped as the static electricity stopped it. The pull of this kind of force wasn't easy to escape.

"Now let's hit it! Jump in the water and get close, then use Thunderbolt!" Sam yelled. Pika dived into the water and loosed a huge bolt of electricity. The bolt flew throughout the water, shocking Gyarados and Pika alike.

"No!" Ian yelled, realizing Sam had figured out a way to deal serious damage at this point.

"Yeah...but it hit back..." Sam said. Pika wasn't at full strength after a hit like that.

"Gr...DRAGON PULSE!" Ian yelled. Gyarados shot another burst of energy, this one hitting Pika. He flew out of the water and hit the ice, hard.

"Dang..." Sam whispered. This wasn't good. Pika couldn't deal with too much of that.

    "Use Tackle!" Ian yelled.

"GO! Dodge it!" Sam yelled. Pika rolled across the ice as Gyarados flew over it. It fell back into the water as Sam realized what was going on now.

"I'm trapped..." Sam whispered. Ian had him...unless he got a plan.

"GO! Bite it!" Ian yelled. Gyarados flew up and grabbed Pika with its teeth, biting hard. Pika was obviously in pain.

"THUNDERBOLT!" Sam yelled. Pika loosed a huge burst of electricity, shocking Gyarados insanly. It instantly dropped Pika and flew back into the water.

"Hm...you aren't done yet, I guess. Still, you're wearing down and I can't afford to take another burst from that..." Ian said.

"Hm...we're running out of time here, aren't we?" Sam asked.

    "Yeah...better finish fast," Ian said.

"Then there's time for one big attack!" Sam yelled.

    "ONE BIG ONE!" Ian yelled.

"Cover yourself in electricity with Thuderbolt, then use Slam!" Sam yelled. Pika shocked its entire body and threw its weight forward.

"Use Thrash!" Ian yelled. Gyarados threw itself forward at a huge speed. The attacks collided as a large amount of sparks ensued. When they cleared, both were still standing.

"Great...time for one more...FINISH IT! THUNDERBOLT!" Sam yelled. Pika let out another burst of electricity at Gyarados.

"DRAGON PULSE!" Ian yelled. One final burst of energy flew from Gyarados's mouth. The attacks collided once more, hitting eachother. They kicked up smoke, which slowly cleared.

Pika and Gyarados were standing strong, ready for more. Suddenly, they both fell over, knocked out.

"A double knockout...?" the ref asked.

"I...don't know...take it slow motion..." Sam said.

"Alright...slow motion camera!" the ref yelled. The holographic screen was filled with two images. Both suddenly started to fall. They appeared to hit at the same time, but it was rewound once and played slower. As they fell once more, every saw one thing. Pika put its tail down to push itself up, holding it up for a split second longer. Gyarados crashed to the water a couple milliseconds before Pika did, causing it to lose.

"The match goes to...SAM!" the ref yelled.

"Good match...wish I had held just a second longer," Ian said, smiling.

"Hahahaha...great match. I'll remember this for the rest of my life...but for now, I've gotta run," Sam said.

"Why?" Ian asked with a confused look.

"Fangirls...RUN!" Sam yelled. A crowd of girls chased after him as he charged out the door and into the pokecenter. He dropped his pokemon quickly and ran up to his room. It was still somewhat early, but he wanted to watch the previous matches. Putting in an order with room service, he flipped the TV on...

Now that there were 2 parts down to the battle, Sean was starting to get used to being a strong competitor in the league, and if Sean could finish off Robert's last Pokemon then he will move on to the next field, which would feel strange since Sean was only getting closer and closer to becoming a Pokemon Master.
The crowd were all cheering at Sean's last victory, which made Robert feel small, but if he had won then he would be cheered for too. Now it was serious, he had to use his strongest Pokemon, one that would fight back with an iron fist.
"I've had just about enough, now. Come on, Kangaskhan!" he sent out his Pokemon onto the Rock field, and Kangaskhan looked very scary. It was some kind of huge kangaroo that had sharp teeth, and a purple monster in its pouch. While slightly intidating and pretty powerful, Kangaskhan had not many moves that could do anything powerful. On the other hand, Sean was going to send out his signiature Pokemon, that was very, very strong and was sure about using.
"Fine by me. Arcanine, show him!" Sean sent Arcanine out onto the field, and like it always has been, Arcanine was very energetic and ready to put up a fight.
This would be Sean's first battle with Arcanine in its evolution, and it looked a whole lot more intimidating than it did as a Growlithe. Plus, with the evolution, Arcanine gained a couple of new moves that Sean would take for a spin in the battle. Sean knew that this would be a win for sure, but Robert had other ideas.
"Let's get this started! Kangaskhan, use your Comet Punch!" this attack was a Normal-typed attack, but would hit Arcanine several times - and with strong arms like Kangaskhan's, each punch would feel like a bowling ball falling from the sky. Immediately, Kangaskhan ran over to Arcanine, holding both arms out, then taking a first jab, then a second, then a third and then a fourth. This was a strong start for Kangaskhan and was a strong attack, despite the level gap. Although, Arcanine was very sturdy and could stay up fine. Sean knew that Arcanine could do better than Kangaskhan.
The first attack was a tough one, and could possibly be equivelant to any attack that Arcanine would make, but Comet Punch was an attack that depended on chance, and Robert got the lucky end of the stick. Sean knew a good way to plan out a successive attack, by using one of Arcanine's new moves.
"Okay, Arcanine, use Agility!" while not being an attack, it was extremely useful, as it would raise Arcanine's speed by two stages. This would help, as Sean could possibly fit in an extra attack each time Robert would even try to. Arcanine started off by running in the same spot, which looked very weird since it was kind of impossible to run without moving forward. Then, Arcanine looked as if it were beginning to run forward a little bit, and the ultra fast motion of the running made Arcanine look as if it were a shadow. Then, Arcanine returned to the first spot in which it was and breathed heavily. Now, Arcanine's body is exercised very well and its speed is a whole lot faster. Robert was going to be in trouble, but he couldn't see that.
"Oh, that's your plan. This is going to be no problem at all." he was in denial, and did not see the harm in Agility. There was no harm in it, but what was about to happen would be a little bit of a shock for him. Robert was ready to attack.
"Kangaskhan, use Bite!" this attack would be a bit of a hard one, since Kangaskhan's teeth were pointy sharp. As Kangaskhan was preparing to run, Sean was ready to take advantage of Agility.
"Not so fast! Arcanine, use Take Down!" this was the other move that was new to Arcanine. Plus, this was Arcanine's toughest attack now, although there was a disadvantage that since it was tough, the rough attack would cause Arcanine to do damage to itself. Kangaskhan was about to run off, before Arcanine had already shot off with its amazingly dashing speed, and had took one very forceful jump onto Kangaskhan's large body, forcing it to the ground. Arcanine had also been so forceful, there was damage taken back. This was raising the bar of effort in this battle, and the end could be a close one, although this was the start and the end was far, far away. Robert was going to try again.
"Argh! Use Mega Punch!" this time it was a different attack, and was a more powerful one, and if Comet Punch was hard, Mega Punch would probaby have about the same power. Right away, Kangaskhan picked itself up off the ground from the Take Down. And then, as Kangaskhan was running over to Arcanine, it held out its rock-solid fist out straight forward, and then, threw its arm at Arcanine delivering an intense blow, forcing Arcanine back a metre or two. The damage was rather good for a Mega Punch, but not enough to weaken Arcanine to a standard that would soar him into the lead.
"It's going to take more than a Mega Punch to beat me!" Sean wondered if that was all Robert could do, and smiled in thought of what Sean could do back.
"Open your eyes." Robert turned to Arcanine, who was still standing but heavily breathing as a sign of brutal force. Sean didn't care and knew that Arcanine was totally fine.
"Open your own. Arcanine, use Flame Wheel!" this was another one of Arcanine's very successful attacks that would leave off a whole lot of damage on Kangaskhan with a bit of luck, and possibly a burn, like in the previous battle. Right away, several flames gathered around Arcanine's body, before Arcanine set off, once again at a totally high speed from the Agility speed boost. Eventually, Arcanine took a full ody charge to Kangaskhan who was really hurt by the shock of the flames. Each one felt like a match was being lit directly on its body. All combined with a big tackle, and the damage was brutal. Although, Kangaskhan got over it fast and was still capable of attacking. Robert knew what to do next.
"Right... Kangaskhan, use Tail Whip!" this time, he was going to attempt to lower Arcanine's defense so that Kangaskhan's straightforward attacks would do more damage. Right after the command, Sean also made a command.
"And now, Arcanine, use Bite!" this was annoying Robert, but it was his fault for not seeing this coming. Either ways, Bite was a strong move and would probably cancel Kangaskhan's attack - annoying Robert further. Arcanine charged over to Kangaskhan, who was only just about to run too, uintil Arcanine took one large chomp onto Knagskhan's back, punching its front part of the body (including the baby in its pouch) to the ground, on its face. The attack was so strong and suprising, Kangaskhan was starting to feel nervous. Even for its appearance, it was not so strong on the inside. Robert was so stressed, and wanted Kangaskhan to attack back.
"No way! Kangaskhan, you use Bite too!" by imitating the attack that Arcanine had just used, it was a way of seeing who was more powerful. Kangaskhan began to run across the rocky field, making each boulder bounce up from the ground as its heavy weight forced the ground each time it ran closer to Arcanine. And then, Kangaskhan took one large bite onto Arcanine's black-striped body. Arcanine barked, and growled at Kangaskhan threateningly. This never happened when it was a Growlithe, but that was just another advantage to the evolution.
"Nice try copying me. I guess Arcanine is stronger, but you didn't really have to find that out." Sean was bragging about how Arcanine was more powerful, which wound Robert up even more.
"Use Take Down!" second time around and this attack could do more than the last time, especially if Arcanine felt more powerful for being provoked by Kangaskhan. Arcanine charged over to Kangaskhan at a very high speed, and then took one huge tackle onto Kangaskhan's neck, forcing every body part onto Kangaskhan's neck and pushing it straight to the ground. The pain was dire, and Kangaskhan could hardly get up. Arcanine also felt rather run down in the head after the tackle, but this attack was critical. Now, Robert had to do something before it was too late. He was forgetting that this was the last chance he would get at the league.
"Ugh, this is so annoying. Kangaskhan, use Comet Punch! Make it fast!" nothing Robert could say would really have an effect on Kangaskhan as it took a few moments to get back up off the ground and it even felt a little dodgy after getting up. Sean was ready to really push Robert's buttons now.
"Not if I can help it! Arcanine, use Leer!" while not doing damage, a perfect finish could be done if the last attack would have some extra damage. Robert couldn't handle this.
"Oh come on! Cut it out!" he was getting seriously annoyed at how things were going pear-shaped, but there was nothing he could do about it. Sean laughed at how Robert was failing. Before Kangaskahn was ready to run, Arcanine made spooky eye contact with Kangaskhan and then began to light up its eyes to an illuminous golden colour. Kangaskhan paused and started to sweat in fear, and stepped back a little bit. Kangaskhan was less defensive, and any attack done by Arcanine would have more power on Kangaskhan. Robert closed his eyes and breathed heavily in stress.
"This shall be no problem, eh? That's what you said at the beginning, and now you should count your problems." Sean always had a good comeback to wind Robert up further.
"Shut... it... Kangaskhan, use Mega Punch and make it a damn good one!!" once again, Kangaskhan was too adjetated to listen but it still was able to make the attack. Kangaskhan began to run, and shake the ground each time. It was running a lot slower from the pain of Take Down, and Kangaskhan did have a little bit of a problem lifing its arm. But then, it felt more invincible once it did, and then delivered one strong punch to Arcanine, giving it a little bit of a suprise. Arcanine got back up quickly and felt better, and was getting closer to the state Kangaskhan was in. Though, this attack was not critical, and not as good. Just one attack could be all it takes, and that would be it for Robert. Sean was ready to finish this.
"Not good enough! Now, Arcanine, get Kangaskhan outta here! Use Flame Wheel!" it was a strong attack by itself, but the lowered defense as a result of Leer used on Kangaskhan was a bonus. This was sure to deliver a very painful end for Kangaskhan, and then, the battle, and Robert would eb out of the league. Arcanine got back up on four legs, and genertaed several flames around its body. Then, Arcanine concentrated very hard on Kangaskhan, before sprinting off at an excellent speed. The flames left a pattern as Arcanine quickly approached Kangaskhan, and then, Arcanine took one big body charge to Kangaskhan and each flame had singed its body. The flames pit massive pain on Kangaskhan's neck and chest, but the charge was far too much to handle and Kangaskhan crashed to the ground and fainted. Sean had won.
"Yay!! You did it once again!" Sean was over the moon for Arcanine, who once again won Sean a victory of the second part to the league. There were a few to go now, but for Robet, it was over. The message passed, and Robert screamed.
"Ugh! I canot believe this!" he returned Kangaskhan into the ball, and then walked out of the side exit of the field. People in the audience were cheering strongly, especially Natasha who was looking at Sean right in the eyes, with a tear in her eye. Sean stroked Arcanine and returned it inside and headed for the hall to wait for his next instruction.

@Bulletproof - Congratulations on reaching the next stage of the pokemon league!

Congratulations Arcanine grew to Level 31

Maple was seeated in the main stadium feeling very contented. All three of her remaining trainers had come through their second matches and were looking very good. Admittedly Sam's victory had been a little close for comfort, but he was through... and that was the main thing. Maples thoughts were interrupted by a loud cheer from the crowd.

"And that's the end for Jimmy's Charmeleon! The young man from Pallet is out of this years pokemon league!" the announcer boomed, "The winner of this match is Simon from Pewter City!"

Maple looked a few rows to her left and saw that Oak was looking very unhappy at having lost the first of his young trainers. Maple grinned to herself, enjoying Oak's misery. Oak now only had four trainers left to Maples three.

    ...................................................................................................................................................................

The next day Maple once again found herself overlooking the main hall awaiting the draw for the next round of the pokemon league. She had enjoyed the last round, with all of her remaining trainers winning and Oak losing his first trainer. She eagerly awaited the announcement...

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN PLEASE DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE BIG SCREEN! THE DRAW FOR THE THIRD STAGE OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS WILL NOW SHOW! FIRST UP IS THE DRAW FOR THE ICE FIELD!"

Maple looked up eagerly... and felt disappointed that none of her trainers were shown on the screen... but then she noticed something and almost burst out laughing!

Diane (Pallet Town) vs Simon (Pallet Town)

She glanced across at Oak, who was looking shocked that to of his trainers had been drawn together. Maple composed herself just in time as Oak looked over to her, and attempted to look composed an unconcerned. She wasn't entirely sure if she had been successful, as Oak gave her an unimpressed look before returning his attention to the big screen.

"AND NOW THE DRAW FOR THE WATER FIELD"

Maple scanned through the list of matches, and this time saw a match containing one of her trainers.

Sean (Cinabaar Island) vs Jasmine (Saffron City)

"AND NOW THE DRAW FOR THE GRASS FIELD"

Maple once again picked out the match of interest.

Warren (Pallet Town) vs Maggie (Celadon City)

"AND FINALLY THE DRAW FOR THE ROCK FIELD"

Maple found the match she was looking for very quickly...

Chuck (Viridian City) vs Sam (Pallet Town)

"AND THAT CONCLUDES THE THIRD STAGE DRAW!"

Sean was back on the battlefield, this time on a field based around Water. There were lots of fountains that were sprinkling lots of drops of water onto the floor, which had then trickled across the floor and into the small pond that had 2 lily pads and nothing else but water inside. This was an ideal stage for Water Pokemon.
Jasmine was standing right infront of Sean looking like she was very calm. Could this be the first trainer that would not be so arrogant towards him? She looked like she knew what she was doing and Sean liked this so he had less to deal with.
"Let me think. What to start off with first..." she certainly did sound quiet, before she then began to pause for thought. As did Sean, who was deciding which Pokemon to use. It didn't take Jasmine long to snap out of this state and send out her first Pokemon.
"Ahh! I got it! Come on out, Horsea!" she threw the PokeBall out onto the battlefield and Horsea came out. Co-incidently, Sean had a Horsea too, but he would rather not use it. Instead, he had a better idea.
"Sounds good to me! Let's do this, Exeggcute!" Exeggcute was also sent out onto the battlefield, each egg was glued together like they were magnetic. They all had smug smiles on their faces.
The crowd were cheering and ready to see a battle. Luckily for Sean, Exeggcute was a Grass-type and Horsea was a Water-type so if he did even the easiest of steps then he would win this. However' there were times when there were a reversal scenario when he had the weaker Pokemon and it won against the stronger one, it was totally possible for Jasmine to do the same. Either way, she knew what to do for now.
"Start off with Focus Energy." she didn't sound like a loud person but Sean didn't see that as a bad thing as there would be no hissy fits involved like all girls he battled. Horsea carried on floating while its eyes were closed, trying to seek out Exeggcute's weak spot. There were orange sparks being generated from its body until it had then stopped and opened its eyes showing it now had full focus on Exeggcute. Now, any move Horsea made had a higher chance of being critical, nothing Sean didn't know about.
"Ahh, I use that strategy all the time." he admired the way Natasha had some good thoughts when it came to battling. Sean thought of his move to start off with.
"Use Reflect, Exeggcute!" this move was the ideal first move to use, since any physical attack done by Horsea would be no way near as powerful. Exeggcute began to glow and shine, showing that it was generating this wall that would keep exeggcute safe. Then, the shine had then began to form into a rectangle that shielded Exeggcute all over. This wall looked like glass, but it could not be smashed or broken. Jasmine didn't care and continued with her plan.
"Uh... right. Horsea, use Water Gun." this attack would be halved in damage since Exeggcute is a Grass-type and Water-type attacks aren't as effective on Grass-types. Though, Horsea had no attacks that weren't Water-typed so it was probably one of the best choices to have made in this scenario. Horsea gathered up a whole lot of water inside its mouth, before then shooting this water out like a cannon. Exeggcute was struck with this powerful yet small blast of water, but it didn't feel very hard. There were no visible effects, infact, Exeggcute felt rather refreshed from the Water Gun.
"Oh well." Jasmine shrugged. Sean admired the fact that she wasn't as dramatic as the past competitors. Now it was his turn.
"And now, Exeggcute, use Leech Seed!" this was a very smart move to use as it would set up a really annoying trap for Horsea, making it a whole lot easier for Sean to win this. The egg at the front had sahot out three seeds from its mouth that had clung onto Horsea's body immediately. These seeds could not get off as they would suck heath out of Horsea and into Exeggcute at the end of each turn. Jasmine was ready to continue with what she was doing.
"Hmm. Okay. Horsea, use Bubble!" while the attack was less damage than the previous one, Jasmine believed that less is more and a weaker attack could build up tension to the next one. However, Sean tried not to laugh as he wasn't rude, but he knew that Bubble was useless if Water Gun was. Anyways, Horsea began to gather up more water inside its mouth once again, but this time, the water had been evaporated into crystal clear bubbles. Each bubble was then launched out into the air in the direction of Exeggcute, which had then hit Exeggcute one by one. Each bubble felt like a rock that was thrown by a gorilla, but this didn't mean Exeggcute was hurt so much. It was a Water-type attack so the damage was decreased and the pain was minimal. Sean was ready to carry on with a better attack.
"Seriously? Come on Exeggcute, use Bullet Seed!" this was Exeggcute's newest attack and definetely its best. As a Grass-type attack, the damage it would do to Horsea would be doubled. The first egg at the front of Exeggcute began to spit seeds out one at a time like a gun - hence the name Bullet Seed. And, each seed that hit Horsea did indeed feel like a bullet. It only took a couple of seeds, probably three to push Horsea to the ground in shock. The attack was definetely a powerful one and now Jasmine had to watch out.
"Interesting. You're much better than the others I've battled." Jasmine smiled. Sean too had smiled.
"Well, let's just say, if you were any one of my previous opponents then you'd be having a fit by now." he was only joking. Jasmine had to step up a little bit if she wanted to catch up.
"Okay. Horsea, use Bubblebeam." this was the more powerful version of Bubble, and Horsea's most powerful attack. Hopefully, this one would be much better than Bubble. Before Horsea began to build up some water in its throat, the Leech Seed was continuing to take effect by glowing green and transmitting heath to Exeggcute. Thsiw as annoying, since Horsea was now weaker without even attacking. Nontheless, Horsea still continued to prepare for Bubblebeam by changing the water within its throat to bubbles, a lot more than Bubble. Then, Horsea shot out all these bubbles at a must faster speed. The bubbles hit Exeggcute all over, and even into the top of the head of one egg that had a cracked shell. The pain was much more worse than Bubble, infact, ten times worse. This was because Focus Energy had made Horsea figure out Exeggcute's weak spot. Now it was time for Sean to use a big, real big attack.
"Now that's what I'm talking about! Now, Exeggcute, use Hypnosis!" this attack had a rather bad accuracy rate, but if this move would hit then it would pretty much void Horsea from making any more attacks, since the effect of Hypnosis would cause Horsea to fall asleep. Right away, Exeggcute generated several circular psychic waves of hypnotic power, which had then travelled in nthe right direction of Horsea who was one second floating on its wings, and the next, on the ground with its eyes closed. Horsea hadn't fainted, it had fell asleep.
"Aww man!" atleast she wasn't having a hissy fit, but she couldn't help but letting out her stress. Unless Horsea would wake up, the battle would be over for her. She had to do her best.
"Come on! Try and wake up!" it was no use, Horsea still laid on the floor with its eyes closed and breathing quietly. The seeds that were glued to Horsea' body had once again shone a green colour, that then transferred more heath from Horsea to Exeggctue. Now, Horsea was nearly taken out. It would only take a few more attack to finish it off, and Sean knew what to do next.
"Looks like things may be a little easier for now. Exeggcute, let's use Bullet Seed again!" this was the best choice, since Bullet Seed would do double damage to Horsea. Right away, Exeggcute shot out a first seed, that shot across the air and hit Horsea hard, and then another was shot and another. Each one smacked Horsea on the back, and that was the most shocking thing for Horsea, waking it up for a couple of seconds and then falling back to sleep. This was pure unluck for Jasmine and she needed to cross her fingers hard.
"Come on! Wake up!" this time she was trying to wake it up by shouting, and it still didn't work. She groaned.
"Unlucky, man." Sean couldn't remember the last time something like this happened.
"Looks like you've won this already." she wasn't very confident, but Sean didn't mind her saying that. The crowd didn't seem happy, waiting for a battle. It was time to finish this off.
"Either way, Exeggcute, use Barrage!" this was another one of Exeggcute's strong attacks, and another Bullet Seed wasn't needed. However, they did have the same effect anyway; apart from the fact that Bullet Seed was a Grass-type attack and Barrage was just a Normal-type attack. Exeggcute began to fire several big black solid balls that looked like eggs, each one hit Horsea mega hard on the body. They made Horsea not only wake up to feel the pain, but several seconds after, the Leech Seed sapped more health away from Horsea and that was it. Horsea went back to the ground and fainted. Not sleep, fainted. Sean had won.
"Hmm. Oh well. I'll be lucky next time, you'll see. Horsea, return." she took it alright and didn't sob or moan, she just looked towards the future. Upon returning her Pokemon, Sean was pleased with Exeggcute.
"Great battling there, you didn't let me down. Return." he also returned Exeggcute, to then hear the audience cheer at Sean's victory. It was weird how everyone seemed to be on his side; that or he was just the better battler.

OOC: Damn, My stupid laptop died twice while doing this. Both times about halfway through D:

Warren groaned as he collapsed into a chair in the lounge, sending a spurt of padding flying out of one of the many rips in the seat covering.

"Feeling tired?" Warren glanced up as Danny dropped into the seat opposite him. Warren just yawned in response. Danny grinned.

"I saw your last match - it looked pretty close. Feeling confident about your next one?" Warren shrugged.

"Well, I just had a very close match with Liv." Warren frowned, then glanced up.

"Liv's in the league?" Danny snorted.

"Not anymore. Mankey just managed to beat her Bibarel. Collapsed straight after, but the beaver went down first." Warren frowned again, unsure how to take this news. Him and Liv had always been more friends than rivals, so it was probably just as well that they weren't going to battle in the league, but he kinda wished he could've at least seen the battle. Then again, his first two battles had been almost immediately after each other and he hadn't had any time to rest. Still, going from the time on the screen, he wasn't having his next battle for another four hours. Maybe he could actually do something that didn't involve battling before then. Danny stared at Warren.

"So, are you going to say anything, or are you just going to sit there and stare at the wall?" Warren glanced up, realising he'd spaced out completely.

"I'm tired after the last match...I'm gonna try and get some rest before the next battle, so I can go in with a clear head." Danny nodded.

"There's some lockers in the rooms over there, if you want to dump your stuff. All of the contestants have one assigned." Warren nodded, then pushed open the door that Danny had indicated and glanced down the 'S' row for his name...hang on. All of the other lockers were shut firmly, but his seemed to be a little ajar, as though someone had shut it in a hurry and not pushed it quite closed. Confused, Warren opened his locker to reveal a set of five Pokeballs.

"What the hell?" Warren asked the empty room. It didn't respond. Utterly bemused, Warren bent down and scooped up all of the Pokeballs, before dropping them with a casual flick. With a burst of white light, five Pokemon burst out of the Pokeballs - a Ninetales, a Wigglytuff, a Nidorino, a Clefairy and a Nidorina. Warren frowned again. The Pokemon looked somehow...familiar. They seemed to think the way about him. Then he gasped. These were Jasper's Pokemon! All of them except for his Ditto. But why were they here? Had he left them here deliberately, or had someone stolen them and tried to hide them, somewhat clumsily? Either way, there was one phone call that he needed to make.

"Professor Maple? Hello?" Warren glanced around the screen of the video phone, but nobody seemed to be at the lab. Just great.

"Warren? Is that you?" Warren nearly fell off his chair as he heard Maple's voice from behind him, not in front. Spinning around, he glanced up into the professor's smiling face.

"What's up, Warren?" The trainer scratched his head, then reached into his pocket. Maple frowned as he held out the handful of Pokeballs.

"These are Jasper's Pokemon. I don't know how, but they ended up in my locker. I don't want them, but I don't have any idea where he is and you were the only person I could think of." Maple laughed.

"I'm flattered, I guess...I suppose I could take them... but why would he leave them with you, rather than just handing them to me himself? Maybe he thought you could look after them?" Warren shook his head.

"Then tough for him. I've got my own team to look after - I can't be babysitting his too. If he wanted them looked after, then he should have done it himself!" Maple frowned.

"Be that as it may, I'm not sure I feel comfortable taking Pokemon that were clearly left to you. I'm sorry Warren, but they're your responsibility now." With That, Maple spun around and walked off, leaving Warren with his mouth hanging open.

"But...but..." Growling angrily, he spun around and marched over to the entrance door, heading out to where it opened out onto the route. Taking out the Pokeballs, he released all five Pokemon, who stood, glancing around, looking as confused as before. Warren glanced at them, feeling surly.

"Ok, here's the deal. Your trainer, who I met a grand total of two times in my life, has abandoned you and left you with me. But here's a newsflash - I have my own Pokemon to look after. So, you can do what you want now. Find a new trainer. Look for Jasper. Live out your lives in the wild. Really, I just don't care. Goodbye." Warren dropped the balls to the ground, then stamped hard on them, smashing them to fragments. The Pokemon frowned, partly angry and partly confused. Warren shrugged.

"Well, you're free now. It's your choice what to do." With that, he turned and marched back into the building, not bothering to look back.

"Trainer Warren Simmons, to the grass field....The Grass Field, trainer Warren Simmons." Warren groaned as his name blared out over the tannoy in all of the, er, excitement, the match had zoomed up on him and he hadn't had any time to rest. At least his Pokemon had been resting in one of the Pokemon Centre Machines that the league had borrowed. Swinging by to pick them up, he dashed over to the grass field, fighting back a yawn. He'd have to hope his next opponent was quite easy - in this state, he'd be lucky to beat a wild Pidgey. Rubbing his eyes, he stumbled out onto the field, wincing as the commentator and the viewers erupted into cheers and whistles.

"And now that the second trainer has finally arrived," called the commentator, "The match will begin! Please welcome our referee!" A woman with two flags stepped up to the side of the pitch.

"The match between Warren Simmons and Maggie Stone will now begin! Trainers, release your first Pokemon!" Warren reached to his belt.

"Victreebel, let's go!" Warren grinned as the powerful plant emerged onto the green battlefield. It had yet to battle in a league match, but was definitely strong enough to hold its own. The girl at the other end grinned, showing off perfect white teeth and flicking back long blonde hair over her shoulder.

"Victreebel?" she called in a voice that resonated stupidity, "That Pokemon isn't very nimble. You need to be able to move during a battle. My Pokemon is very speedy, I assure you." Warren rolled his eyes.

"Just hurry up and release it!" he shouted back grumpily. She giggled.

"Oh, fine. Beedrill, darling, let's win this one!" Warren grimaced as the huge bee materialised into the arena. Not only was Victreebel at a disadvantage, but seeing Maggie's Beedrill had reminded of his own. As if his mind wasn't already worn out enough.

    "Alright," the referee called, "Begin!"

"Fury Attack!" Maggie called in her irritating bimbo voice. Warren rolled his eyes.

"Deflect with Razor Leaf!" The wasp charged, stingers raised, but Victreebel fired off a volley of sharp foliage, forcing the bug into a defensive stance.

"Now, Stun Spore!" Victreebel's leaf flew up and a cloud of golden powder flew out, spreading across the arena. Maggie pouted as Beedrill froze up, the Stun Spore causing it to seize up.

"Acid, Victreebel!" The plant shuddered, then spewed a jet of purple liquid at Beedrill. It stumbled as the acid stung its body and ate through its thin, membranous wings.

"Finish it - Vine Whip!" With a quick lash, Victreebel ensnared one of Beedrill's legs, then threw it high into the air. The insect struggled, but with the paralysis and the acid-damaged wings, it was unable to stop itself from ploughing headlong into the floor. Warren grinned as Beedrill was returned, unconscious. Maggie stood, angrily, with her hands on her hips.

"That wasn't very nice. You didn't even give me a chance to call an attack." Warren rolled his eyes and didn't say anything. Maggie grumbled.

"Fine. Doduo, you're up! Peck it!" A large brown bird burst from the thrown Pokeball, two heads bobbing on brown necks. It glanced at Victreebel, then charged, the beaks jabbing viciously.

"Muzzle it!" Victreebel fired forwards its main vine, wrapping it firmly around the beak of the left head, twisting savagely to send the bird sprawling onto the grassy floor.

"Acid!" Doduo started to struggle to its feet, then froze as Victreebel drenched it with stinging acid.

"Stun Spore!" As the bird finally stood, shivering in pain, Victreebel faced it, then exhaled another orange cloud. Doduo gasped, then seized up and spasmed as paralysis crept over it.

"Finish it with Razor Leaf!" As the bird dropped to one knee, Victreebel fired off a storm of leaves that knocked Doduo off its feet and left in lying on the floor, passed out. Warren grinned broadly. This was barely a challenge. At the other end of the battlefield, Maggie pouted.

"This isn't over yet!" she shouted with all the air of a model being told they need to lose a few pounds, "You haven't seen Pinsir yet! Come on, Pinsir, let's teach this boy a lesson!" She huffily threw a third Pokeball, which burst open to reveal a giant bug. It was scaly and brown, but with spindly arms – almost like an oversized cockroach. The most distinctive feature, however, was easily the huge, silver, spiked horns which it clashed menacingly on the top of its head.

"Vicegrip!" Maggie practically screamed and Pinsir lowered it's head.

"Deflect with Raz- what!" Warren shouted. Pinsir had moved at speeds he never would have expected and seized Victreebel firmly round the middle. The plant screeched loudly as the spikes dug into it, but though it struggled madly, it was trapped.

"Vital Throw!" Pinsir flicked its head up and Victreebel, still screaming, flew high into the air.

"Brick Break, Pinsir!" As Victreebel peaked, Pinsir leapt into the air, arm pulled back with the clear intention of delivering a crushing blow. It didn't happen. Angrily, Victreebel lashed out with its vine and, either by luck or by judgement, wrapped it around Pinsir's arm. Then, in the most stunning display of aerial acrobatics the world has ever seen, it spun, flipping Pinsir right over its head before sending it flying down to the ground. The two of them landed back in the arena, Victreebel the right way up, but Pinsir head first. Growling, it picked it self up and glared at Victreebel. Both of them were panting.

"Revenge, Pinsir!" the bug charged again, its raised fist wreathed in blue light and before Warren could even think, it had crossed the arena and smacked Victreebel right in the face, sending it flying back and nearly throwing it straight into Warren, who felt a trailing vine brush his back and he ducked low to the ground. Irritated, he glanced at the unconscious Victreebel, then returned it. Who next? The problem was that thing's speed – he needed something small and quick to escape the horns, someone who could deal with close-up combat. Then the answer cam in a flash of inspiration – Elekid!

"Let's go!" he shouted as he tossed the Pokeball, revealing the small, pronged Pokémon to the audience. Maggie giggled.

"Aw, you're so cute!" she laughed, "Thinking that midget stands a chance! You have to be big and tough to win! Pinsir, Brick Break!" The bug charged forwards and raised its hand…but Elekid wasn't there.

"Low Kick!" Elekid laughed from behind Pinsir, who spun just as the electrical Pokémon swept its legs away, sending it crashing to the ground. Warren grinned.

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall, Maggie! Elekid, Thunder Shock!" Elekid nodded, already spinning its arms, then released the sparks flying between its horns and firing them straight at Pinsir, who was struggling to his feet. It yelled out as it was blasted backwards, but managed to flip back to its feet and stare hatefully and the little yellow devil who was right now pointing at it and laughing. The two trainers eyes met and they shouted the next order together.

    "Quick Attack, Elekid!"

"Revenge, Pinsir!" Both dashed forwards at top speed, Pinsir with its arm raised and Elekid pointing its prongs. Everything slowed to a crawl. Pinsir's arm came down and Elekid's eyes flicked up to it. Lifting one foot, Elekid spun, the Revenge attack smoothly sliding straight past it to crash into the ground. Elekid wasn't done yet. With a loud cry, he continued the turn until he was facing Pinsir's back, skidded to a stop, then charged again and knocked it to the ground – defeated. Maggie gasped.

"Come ON Pinsir, get UP! That thing's only tiny anyway!" Pinsir didn't respond, mostly because it was unconscious. Warren grinned as the commentator yelled out:

"And the victory goes to Warren Simmons! Join us next time, ladies and gentlemen, for the last round of the three-on-threes to see who will go through to the real battles! Thank you and goodnight!" Warren glanced up. Now that he noticed it, it was the night. The sun was setting and seeing as it was the middle of summer, that meant it had to be quite late. Warren grinned again as he turned to leave the stadium and find the trainer's quarters again. Time for bed.

The audience ended cheering at Sean's first victory and were beginning to expect the next battle. Jasmine had to think hard of what to use, since Sean easily scored that victory for the wrong Pokemon choice. She finally figured out the Pokemon for her to use, one that was more strategic.
"You won't take me down that easily. Butterfree, come out!" she sent Butterfree onto the battlefield. Butterfree was a purple butterfly with an incredible pair of wings. There were so many moves that Butterfree had so Sean needed to take this account for his Pokemon choice.
Sean knew one thing about Butterfree and that was that it was a Bug and Flying-type. This means that there were so many weaknesses to take advantage of. He decided on his Pokemon.
"Oh yeah? Come on, Doduo!" he had also sent his Pokemon onto the stage. Doduo was a Flying-type so any Flying-type move would be doubles on Butterfree who was weak to them.
Now it was all down to who was going to make the first attack. Sean was still trying to wait as he believed that making a shock attack would do extra damage. Jasmine could wait no longer and had started the battle off.
"And now, for a strategy that will not fail. Butterfree, begin with Poisonpowder." this attack was very useful for the start of a battle since it would poison and would damage Doduo turn by turn without doing anything. Straight away, Butterfree began to fly higher and then above Doduo, then scattering a purple dust all around it. The unlucky thing to the attack was that none of this powder had actually reached Doduo, so the attack had pretty much missed. Butterfree returned to its first spot and Doduo was fine. No poison.
"Hmm. Looks like this really is not my lucky day." Jasmine as already feeling pessimistic, even though it was only the beginning of this battle. Sean carried it on.
"Well, if you say so. Doduo, start off with Peck!" straight to attacking since there were not many moves that would be able to set up a plan like the last battle. Right away, Doduo began to run on its two long legs, and then when Doduo was close enough, it took one very high jump up and stabbed Butterfree with each beak. The attack had left a mark on Butterfree's tender body which was very painful, but this was far from the end. Natasha was rather impressed but wasn't scared of losing.
"You are strong indeed. Looks like I'm in trouble here." atleast she was admitting it already, Sean had thought, but Butterfree was capable of putting up a strong fight.
"On the other hand, I aint giving up! Butterfree, use Tackle." this was probably one of the best attacks Butterfree had and that's not saying much. It was very samey and nothing Sean was afraid off. Butterfree began to flap its wings at quite a fast speed, and then pushed its feet forwards and accellarated its wings. It kept on flying until it had finally reached Doduo, and took one quick body chard with both wings, its slim body and head. This Tackle had been rather tougher than Doduo was expecting, but not tough enough to make Sean speechless. All in all, Sean was already doing well enough, but Jasmine would get better each time and Sean could sense it.
"Looks like you might be catching up. That's better than I expected really. Anyways, Doduo, use Rage!" he felt rather weak complimenting his oponent but he was just trying to make an impression. Rage was quite a smart move, as for every move that would successfully hit Doduo, its attack stage would rise. This was very useful. Doduo began to run off both of its two skinny legs in anger, and had then hit Butterfree quickly. The attack was not very strong, not as strong as Butterfree's Tackle even but atleast the effect would still work. Rage was not really for the attack, but for what help it could be.
"Interesting." Jasmine was intrigued by Sean's plan and could see where he was going. Now it was her turn to attack back.
"Now this can't fail. Butterfree, use Confusion." this attack was a lot more powerful than Tackle, and it even had that slight chance that it would end up confusing Doduo. Although, upon getting hit, Doduo's attack would rise as of Rage. Butterfree began to react by flapping its wings slower to saty afloat in the air, and then, its anntenaes began to glow a purple colour which had then transmitted a ray towards Doduo, who then began to glow purple. The Confusion began to mess with Doduo's head, showing some effect as Doduo squaked for a moment in pain. Butterfree stopped. The attack was quite strong and they carried on equally matched so far, but unfortunately for Jasmine, the attack didn't confuse.
"Looks like we're pretty much as strong as each other - well, not for long anyways. Doduo, use Fury Attack!" this attack was by far Doduo's strongest, as the attack could hit several times by stabbing its beak into Butterfree. Immediately, Doduo began to run on both of its really thin legs, and then, Doduo jumped high up so it could reach butterfree, then both feet took butterfree to the ground, followed up by several stabs with both beaks on both heads. Each stab was hard as the next one, but this attack had really hurt.
"Hmm, are you sure about that?" Jasmine didn't want an argument but she was sure of what she was doing, even if it wasn't turning out the best for her.
"More sure than ever." Sean too knew what he was doing, plus how he beat everyone else so far was memorable.
"Well I wouldn't bet on it. Butterfree, use Stun Spore." once again she was going to try and give herself a strong advantage, this time by making an attempt to paralyze Doduo. Paralysis was one of the most stressful status conditions ever, and Sean strongly disliked this. Butterfree began to hover over Doduo, and then scatter a golden powder over it. Before the powder even did touch Doduo, Doduo quickly ran out of the spot where Stun Spore was being scattered. There was no more powder left to scatter so Butterfree headed back towards its first spot with another unsuccessful attacks.
"Damn it!" Jasmine was starting to lose it, but it was only like every other trainer to lose their temper when missing. Sean was ready to use Doduo's next move.
"Phew. Now then Doduo, use Peck again!" this time, Sean was expecting an even more powerful Peck so that he would be able to take the lead, but it wasn't the most powerful attack so he'd better cross his fingers. Right away, Doduo ran at quite a fast speed, both beaks were ready to take one big peck at Butterfree. Then, when it was close enough, Doduo jumped and pointed its two sharp beaks at Doduo's wings, each one. The Peck had took Butterfree to the ground, as both beaks penetrated Butterfree's delicate wings. The attack, obviously, was a very critical hit. Butterfree had problems trying to get itself back into the air due to the painful marks on its wings. Jasmine didn't like where this was going.
"Oh man! Come on Butterfree, pull it together, and use Tackle." just like Sean, Jasmine was hoping for a strong return with an attack used earlier on in the battle. If this attack was strong then she could take the lead back off Sean, but if not then her chances of staying in the league would be narrowed. Butterfree made its attempt trying to fly across the air at a strong speed, trying to forget the pain on its wings. Upon approaching Doduo, its speed accellarated, so all of its body crashed into Doduo, pushing it to the floor. The attack was powerful than the last oen and Doduo felt a little shocked from the force, but within a couple of seconds, Doduo shaked its legs and got back up.
"Come on..." Jasmine hoped that Sean wouldn't finish Doduo off right now. Fortunately for her, he had another quick idea incase something else happened.
"Alright, Doduo, use Growl!" Jasmine was relieved to hear that he wasn't using an attack, which gave her another chance to win. However, Growl wasn't totally useless - it would lower Butterfree's attack stat by a stage so its next physical attack would not be as strong. Doduo began to open both beaks, then made the loudest squawk that was ever heard. The audience jumped a little to the shock of the noise, but Butterfree felt more. It felt weaker in a way, less strong.
"That's it? You've just given me a second chance." Jasmine was thinking of what to do next, then an idea came to her.
"And now, Butterfree, use Poisonpowder!" second time lucky with this attack, although this was probably the wrong timeto use it since it was nearly the end of the battle. Buttrefree fluttered over above Doduo and scattered the same kind of purple powder that was used earlier, only it had missed. This time, Doduo had caught this ower in its beak and had gasped for a moment as a reaction to the poison. The move was successful and Doduo was poisoned, meaningh that each turn Doduo would lose health. Although at this stage it was useless.
"And now you're chances in this battle are over." Sean knew what to do next and waited no longer.
"Doduo, finish Butterfree off with another Peck!" third time lucky, this time things would be so easy since Butterfree was pretty much nearly out of the game now. Right away, Doduo ran off its legs faster than ever, despite the poison state which didn't harm its activity. Then, Doduo took one stab at Butterfree with each beak. Once again, on its wings which could take no mroe pain and couldn't be used for now. Therefore, Butterfree fell to the ground and fainted.
"Oh no!!" Jasmine didn't know what to do next, she was really annoyed that she tried her best and got nothing out of it. She got her PokeBall out and returned Butterfree.
"That really was amazing. You're getting better every minute, Doduo. You deserve a rest." Sean congratulated Doduo for winning yet another battle, and returned it. Now was the final part of this battle, and they needed to think long and hard of what to do next. It was serious for Jasmine.

This could be the last moment that Jasmine would be able to battle in the league, though as for Sean, it could be one moment closer to winning. The audience were cheering for him as if they were on his side more, which did put Jasmine of a little bit. The cheering laid off a little, as they were waiting to see a battle.
As the final part of the battle, it would take some thought for Jasmine to choose her Pokemon as it was vital, one wrong choice would cost her a place in the league. There was not much choice to be made but still there was a choice of a couple of Pokemon for her to use. Either way, Sean knew what to use.
"Looks like this is your last chance, Jasmine. Come on out, Flareon!" he threw the ball to the stage and Flareon had came out. The audience all were stunned at the sight of its golden coat. However, the shinyness wouldn't give him the victory, it was all down to what Jasmine would choose. As he chose Flareon, a Fire-type, she chose something that would put it in its place.
"Oh really? Come on, Vaporeon!" she also sent her Pokemon onto the battlefield. The weird thing here was, they were both Eevee-lutions. This was a real co-incidence, although Jasmine had the advantage since Vaporeon was a Water-type.
It was obvious that the audience preferred Flareon, as the golden coat infatuated most of the little girls in the audience. Jasmine also kept staring at Flareon's shiny gold coat, but tried to focus on the battle. Sean knew what Flareon could do first.
"Right then. Flareon, begin with a nice Sand Attack!" this was one of Sean's greatest strategies when it came to using Flareon. Sand Attack would lower Vaporeon's accuracy, and once Jasmine would miss with a move then she would be seriously annoyed that this happened to her. Flareon was gathering up particles of sand in its mouth, that was very grainy and annoying to have in your eyes. Then, this sand was spat out in the forwards direction of Vaporeon who was lounging on the ground, like a mermaid (since it looks like a mermaid). The sand then ended up being zapped into Vaporeon's big eyes, which kept it blinking over and over, aswell as how it given really blurreed vision.
"Eh. I guess you know what you're doing." Jasmine shrugged.
"I'm gunna let easy on you for now. Vaporeon, use Tackle!" Jasmine thought that it would be best not to abuse her advantage as she was a calm battler, but she would do so later. This didn't mean Tackle was useless, it was a great way to weaken Flareon before using a strong attack. Vaporeon had no legs, so it flipped itself across the wet floor, luckily it was wet as it was a water based field. Vaporeon had then took one body charge on to of Flareon who was taken to the floor for a second. The attack was not very strong but it was a start, Sean knew he could do better than her. Now it was his turn to do so.
"Flareon, use Ember!" this was a rather bad idea since it would do half damage, due to being a Fire-type attack. Meanwhile, this was its strongest attack and even if it was half damage, it had that small chance of causing a burn which would give him a huge advantage. Flareon began to charge up a blazing hot flame in its throat and when it was hot and strong enough, the Ember was launched out into the air. This ball of fire had then hit Vaporeon, but not very hard. Since its body was very wet, the fire was quickly put out. However its skin was drying up a little so that was a short problem that Jasmine didn't see.
"Uhh... I don't know if using Fire-type attacks on Vaporeon are such a good idea." she was giving advice, which was a little weird as he was her competitor.
"I know and it could work." as always, he knew what he was doing was the right thing.
"It's your funeral. Vaporeon, use Tail Whip!" this time she was not going to use an attack, but weaken Flareon down so that her next attack would be much stronger. Vaporeon flopped across the ground and quickly reached Flareon, then slapping its fish-like tail right across Flareon's body. There was no damage done but for some reason it made Pokemon feel more adjetated and less defensive. Now any moves used on Flareon would have more power.
"I see what you're trying to do but trust me it won't work on me." Sean had so many experiences of this and had pulled through. It was his turn again.
"Use Ember again, Flareon!" there wasn't many attacks that Flareon had so Sean just had to make the most of them, even if they were weak. There was still a chance of burning Vaporeon which would be very useful and lucky if this did happen. Flareon built up a sphere of flames within its throat, and then it opened its mouth, ready to release this ball of fire. After spitting this ball out and aiming it at Vaporeon, the ball quickly reached Vaporeon's tail very quickly. As its tail was very thin, Vaporeon did feel rather hurt and had to slap its tail against the ground a few times to get rid of this flame. Altogether the attack was very good, and probably put Sean in the lead.
"How do you do it?" Jasmine couldn't understand how a Pokemon with a weakness to her Pokemon could be doing so well against it.
"I'll let you see that on your own." Sean didn't really have anything to say, leaving Jasmine speechless for a couple of seconds.
"Uhh... okay then. Vaporeon, use Water Gun!" this was serious for her now as that was nearly it for her part in the league. Once Vaporeon began to charge up some water in its mouth, Sean had an idea to get him out of this quickly.
"Not if I can help it! Use Quick Attack, Flareon!" the attack was so fast that it would attack, and even stop Vaporeon for attacking this turn. Flareon rushed off at a very quick speed and hit Vaporeon, causing it to stop in shock. Flareon returned to its spot, while Vaporeon breathed for a couple of seconds as it lost its breath from being attacked out of nowhere. Jasmine was going to try again with another attack.
"Aww, come on Vaporeon, you too use Quick Attack!" it would probably not be such a good idea copying Sean at this stage but she didn't care as she knew it would get her somewhere and she needed it right now. Vaporeon did the same thing Flareon just did, only this time it wasn't necessarily as fast since it had no legs. But still, Vaporeon hit Flareon and returned back to its original spot.
"Looks like Vaporeon can't do it aswell, 'cause it doesn't have legs. You might wanna think about that." giving advice to Jasmine when she wasn't in that much of a mood wasn't such a good idea as it would most likely make her a little annoyed.
"You don't know the half of what Vaporeon can do." she told him.
"Right then. Flareon, use Ember again!" Jasmine was getting bored of seeing Sean repeat the same attack over and over again, but Sean had a good feeling about this one. Flareon gathered upflames inside its burning neck and then made them into a ball. Then, once this ball was hot enough, Flareon opened its mouth and launched this ball out at a high speed and temperature. This Ember then smacked Vaporeon's tail once again, but this time the flames wouldn't go away by just flopping against the ground. The best thing for Sean and the worst for Jasmine happened, Vaporeon was now burned and would lose health each turn.
"Argh, so that's why you keep doing that!" Jasmine just realised why Sean kept using the same attack over and over. Sean nodded and Jasmine was ready to fight back.
"And now it's time I show you what Vaporeon can really do. Use Water Gun!" this attack was a Water-type attack, and a good one too. So, this would do twice the damage and would certainly hurt Flareon. Vaporeon gathered up lots of drops of water inside its throat until there was a sufficient amount to blast. And then, Vaporeon sprayed this water out at a very high speed, hitting Flareon on the back. This water made its fur seem really cold and it shiverred for a few minutes as it was very painful. This probably saved Jasmine, and Sean had to compete with this. However, the burn on Vaporeon was lighting up and Vaporeon rolled over, trying to get rid of it when there was no use. Sean was ready to fight back.
"Wow, I'm stunned. That was probably the best thing I've seen in this battle right now. But still, I'm gunna win this. Use Tackle, Flareon!" this attack had nothing really to it, but it would probably be better than Ember at this stage. Flareon took off its legs and charged towards Vaporeon, taking one big charge at Vaporeon whi had forced it to the ground. The attack was very hard and Vaporeon's health was running down the line quickly. Jasmine had to shape up quickly before she would lsoe it all.
"Uh oh..." she was speechless, she had to think of something to do. Sean was smiling, while crossing his fingers that nothing bad would happen. Then, JAsmine remembered one move, one move that would probably give her a strong victory.
"Okay, Vaporeon, use Water Pulse!" this attack was much more powerful than Water Gun, and Water Gun was very powerful on Flareon. And to top it all off, it had a chance of confusion - also known as hell for Sean. Vaporeon began to charge up water inside its mouth once again, and then this water was transferred into waves that were then emitted across the stage. Before these waves reached even near Flareon, Flareon jumped to once side so the aves went in the wrong direction. They missed, and these waves faded away very quickly. Jasmine felt like breaking down.
"Oh come on!!" things were once again taking a turn for the worst for her, whereas Sean didn't know how lucky he was.
"W-wow. Come on Flareon, use Ember! And aim for Vaporeon's tail!" Sean looked at the burn again that was bright and sparkling. Vaporeon felt the pain and couldn't handle much more of it. Flareon began to gather more flames inside its mouth, before making them into a ball and shooting it out at an unnoticable speed, quickly smacking Vaporeon right on the burn on Vaporeon's tail, combusting the flame and making one big burst. Jasmien jumped for a moment, but Vaporeon couldn't handle much more. It was next to out of there, and Jasmine couldn't handle much mroe. She was not the calm person she was at the beginning of this battle. She had to try again, or else.
"Oh no! Please, Vaporeon, just try and use Water Pulse one more time!" this was the all or nothing moment for Jasmine, as it was for Sean. However, before Sean could watch himself get so close to winning and lose, he had to do something about it.
"I don't think so! Use Quick Attack and make it good, Flareon!" after just saying the words, Flareon brushed its paw against the ground to charge its speed up, and then Flareon dashed off at a very high speed, within one second, Flareon hit Vaporeon out of shock and Vaporeon fell to the ground in pain. The attack was tough, the burn was tough and there was nothing else it could do right now. Vaporeon had fainted. Jasmine had lost the battle.
"Yes!! I knew you'd pull through, Flareon!" Sean stroked Flareon who sat down, before then realising that Flareon's coat was really hot so he burnt his hand for a moment.
The audience were cheering for him as he made another victory. He was getting closer to being the winner of the league, and nothing was going to stop him. Natasha was in the audience, cheering at the top of her voice. As for Jasmine who was standing in depression, she returned Vaporeon and said nothing. Not even congratulations. She walked off into the exit, leaving Sean to return Flareon.
"You really are awesome. Coem on, you deserve a rest after such a battle." he got out the PokeBall to then return Flareon inside. Sean walked out of the field and into the lounge to wait for further instruction.

OOC: More language than usual. You've been warned...

"Damn it damn it damn it damn it!" Sam cursed, running though the hotel's halls at top speed. He had woken up late because of a late night and wasn't there to see the draws immediatly. Charging through the doors, he finally made it to the lobby. Looking around, he saw people chatting about the matchups. Scanning through them, he found his name on the rock field.

"Yes!" he whispered. He had a chance to use Onix that he wasn't planning to waste. This was gonna be good. His matchup was against someone named Chuck. Sounded...fun.

"Well...I suppose I better get going..." Sam whispered. Walking over to the pokecenter desk, he picked up his pokemon and walked outside. The rock arena wasn't far away, but he walked slow, taking a fair amount of time to arrive.

"So this is the place, huh?" he whispered to himself as he walked inside. It was huge. The arena itself had walls surrounding the rocks, protecting the trainers. A person awaited on the other podium, which Sam assume to be Chuck.

"You Sam?" a voice asked. Sam turned around to find the ref standing behind him.

"Yeah...I guess I'm checked in now?" he asked. The ref nodded. "Great...well, heading up."

Sam stepped onto the podium and it raised up to level with his opponent, who Sam quickly realized to be wearing a martial arts costume.

"Hey...what's with the outfit...?" Sam asked.

"Shut the hell up, its cool, okay?!" the guy yelled.

"I was just curious...that's all..." Sam whispered.

"I don't wanna hear it! I'll crush you!" he yelled.

    "...weirdo..." Sam whispered.

"Sam, are you ready to begin?" the ref asked, interupting the conversation.

"Yes," Sam said, following the traditional answer for once.

"Chuck, are you ready to begin?" the ref asked.

"Yes...ready to crush him!" Chuck yelled, pulling out a pokeball.

"Then let the match begin!" the ref yelled. Sam's hand flew to his belt, grabbing Onix's pokeball.

"Go...Onix!" Sam yelled, tossing the pokeball. The huge rock-snake appeared, ready for battle.

"That's going to cost you! Machop!" Chuck yelled, throwing out a pokeball. A small, muscular pokemon appeared.

"Let the fight begin!" the ref yelled, backing up.

"You go with type advantage...but I've learned from several battles that typing isn't the only way to win...observe! Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Onix started spinning and within seconds, a huge tornado was headed Machop's way. Chuck simply smirked.

"Low Kick!" he yelled. Machop charged forward and kicked low, knocking Onix onto the ground.

    Sam hummed, having predicted this.

"You're pathetic, you know that? Your pokemon got beat so easily!" Chuck laughed.

"Onix isn't beat yet..." Sam said.

"It will be soon! Karate Chop!" Chuck yelled. Machop jumped forward and hit Onix with a chop. Onix, however, didn't flinch.

    "But how?!" Chuck yelled.

"Dude, you're reading too much into type advantage and not enough into pure facts. Yeah, Machop is really strong, but Onix is freakin' huge...do you honestly think you're gonna do all that much?" Sam asked.

"Yeah, I do! Seismic Toss!" Chuck yelled.

"...alright, I'll concede...that might hurt..." Sam said.

"Like hell it will! Go!" Chuck yelled. Machop charged forward and grabbed Onix by the tail, swinging and throwing him straight up.

"What do you think of that?!" Chuck yelled, a touch annoyed now.

"That you are the world's biggest retard," Sam said.

"Why do you say that?" Chuck asked, confused.

"Because. You just threw the equivilent of a 500 pound weight up in the air above your pokemon," Sam said.

"And that matters how?" Chuck asked. Sam slapped his forehead.

"Are you all muscle no brain? Machop's standing dead under it. Would you like having a boulder fall on you?" Sam asked.

"NO! It'd squish me...OH!" Chuck said, getting it.

"Yes...and now say good bye," Sam said.

"To what?" Cchuck asked. Sam slapped his forehead again as Onix fell, squishing Machop.

"Oh!!! I get it now!" Chuck said.

"Yeah...a bit late, too..." Sam whispered.

"Hm...but you die! Karate Chop! Full power!" Chuck yelled. Machop's hand moved, crushing Onix in one section.

    "Ouch...finally did something..." Sam whispered.

"Throw it into the wall!" Chuck yelled.

"Okay! Here's where we start our counter! Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Machop grabbed Onix, but he started to spin, throwing Machop into the wall instead.

    "But how?!" Chuck yelled.

"Its simple, really. You've only really made two hits, which aren't nearly enough to take out Onix. Now, Dig!" Sam yelled. Onix buried into the ground.

    "Where...did it go?" Chuck asked.

"You're about to find out!" Sam yelled. The ground started shaking. Suddenly, Onix flew out of the ground, hitting Machop dead on. It was knocked dead up in the air.

    "But how?!" Chuck yelled.

"It buried under the ground...and came up straight under Machop. Now, grab it! Bind!" Sam yelled. Onix's tail flipped out and grabbed the now falling Machop, catching it and pulling it tight.

    "Crap..." Chuck said.

"Damn right! Let's get it now! Throw it and then use Rock Throw!" Sam yelled. Onix flicked its tail, throwing Machop into a wall. It then tossed several rocks at it, causing yet more damage.

"Now end it! Tackle!" Sam yelled. Onix dived forward, crashing into Machop. When the dust that was kicked up cleared, Machop was knocked out.

"Machop is unable to battle! Onix wins the round!" the ref yelled, waving a flag

    "Yeah!" Sam yelled.

    "Crap...return..." Chuck said angerly.

"Send out your next pokemon!" the ref yelled.

"Heh...Hitmonchan!" Chuck yelled, throwing out another pokeball. A large, tan pokemon with what appeared to be training garb appeared.

"Onix can take it! I'll keep going!" Sam yelled.

"Then let the second round begin!" the ref yelled.

"Let's do it, Onix! Rock Throw!" Sam yelled. Onix tossed a couple of rocks at Hitmonchan. The flew forward, but then suddenly fell to the ground short. Sam was confused.

"How...?" Sam asked, recalling all he could about Hitmonchan's pokedex data. Suddenly, it was clear. The pokemon was known for having punches so fast they couldn't be seen. He had to be careful here.

"Mach Punch!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonchan flew forward, its fist crashing into Onix, knocking it backwards.

"A lot of force, but that can be used against it. Onix, show 'em Tackle!" Sam yelled. Onix launched itself forward at full force. Hitmonchan seemed unphased, however.

"Bullet Punch!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonchan's fist flew forward, crashing into Onix's face. This caused Onix to crush together like a slinkey.

    "Wow...so much raw power...I'm not sure...but...maybe if I do that...yeah!" Sam said.

"Oh please! Mach Punch!" Sam yelled.

"Slap it with your tail!" Sam yelled. Hitmonchan flew forward with the same force it had before, but Onix's tail fell down on it, crushing it. Sam was sure this would annoy Chuck, but he simply laughed.

"Now! Revenge!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonchan moved its fist at huge speed, crashing into Onix. Sam was sure this would do little, but he was wrong. Onix flew nearly 50 feet straight up into the air, falling down onto a rock, crumbling it. Onix was defeated.

"But...no..." Sam said, astonished by how easily Chuck had taken out Onix.

    "Ha!" Chuck laughed.

"Onix is defeated! Hitmonchan wins the round!" the ref yelled.

"Hm...well, Hitmonchan's certainly fast...strong...but its missing one thing," Sam said, smiling.

    "And what's that?" Chuck yelled.

"Easy. The ability to attack something small, fast moving, and FLYING! Pidg!" Sam yelled, throwing out another pokeball out. Pidg flew out of the ball, ready for its battle.

"Both trainers are ready...let the third round begin!" the ref yelled.

"Show 'em gust!" Sam yelled. Pidg flapped its wings. He thought this wouldn't do much other than kick up a little dust, but the result amazed him. Hitmonchan flew backwards into a rock.

"Whoa...it can't take wind. Its fast...so its...light! It has force because its so fast! Duh!" Sam said, cracking Chuck's attacks wide open.

"Hm...go! Jump and use Mach Punch!" Chuck yelled. Sam smiled. This was gonna be horrible.

"Hitmon...chan!" Hitmonchan yelled, jumping up in the air and using its attack. It flew in close to Pidg, but Sam smiled again.

"Aerial Ace!" he yelled. Pidg ducked under the punch and slammed into Hitmonchan. Then, charging forward, he crashed into the ground. Hitmonchan was crushed under the attack, but not done yet.

"Ha! You don't learn, do you? You can hurt Hitmonchan all you want. REVENGE!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonchan pushed its arm up, smacking it into Pidg.

"Damn..." Sam whispered, obviously annoyed by how powerful that attack was. Pidg was really taking hits and he couldn't do anything about it. Unless...

"Now! Jump up and hit it with Comet Punch!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonchan jumped into the air and prepared its fists. Sam knew this was a multi hit attack that would finish Pidg if he didn't do something. Then an idea came to mind. Hitmonchan was focused...too focused. Would it keep its eye on Pidg no matter what? Only one way to find out.

"Quick Attack!" Sam yelled. Pidg flew between Hitmonchan's legs. Sure enough, it turned around to watch Pidg...and crashed into the rock.

    "DAMN IT!" Chuck yelled.

"Yeah...you're obviously not familiar with how fast a Pidgeotto is...go! Twister!" Sam yelled. Pidg flapped its wings again, this time starting a twister. With Hitmonchan injured from its crash, it couldn't stop itself from being pulled in. The twister banged it around against rocks and the ground.

"Ouch, that's gotta hurt. Go! Finish it with Aerial Ace!" Sam yelled. Pidg flew into the twister, crashing into Hitmonchan. Dragging it through, it crushed it against a wall.

"Ouch...that's gotta hurt...I think that's match," Sam said, pointing to the now knocked out Hitmonchan.

"Good point Hitmonchan is...whoa!" the ref yelled. Pidg fell to the ground, knocked out as well.

"Hm...that was a bit more painful than I though...still...Pidg is done," Sam said, confirming its defeat.

"Very well...double knockout!" the ref said. Both returned their pokemon.

"This is it...the last one. He'll probably have another fighting type. Nine won't do any good on this field. The rocks stop its flamethrower...Pika can't do much and it'll be easy to crush...Cloy just isn't meant for this...leaving only Umbre..." Sam said, pulling his final pokeball.

"Let the final round begin!" the ref yelled.

"Let's go!" both trainers yelled. A brown pokemon with long legs and medium sized arms appeared on one side as Umbre appeared on Sam's.

"Hm...this should be an interesting fight..." Sam whispered.

"Brick Break!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonlee jumped forward and flipped, bring its foot down on Umbre's head. Umbre flinched in pain. Sam realized just how bad a matchup this was.

"Hm...show it Pursuit!" Sam yelled. Umbre covered itself in dark and charged forward at Hitmonlee. Despite the fact that this attack wasn't strong against Hitmonlee's type, Umbre dealt good damage as it struck during the moment Hitmonlee was moving its leg back.

"Hm...that hurt...HIT IT!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonlee threw its foot down, but Umbre was ready this time.

"Quick Attack!" Sam yelled. Umbre dodged out of the way. Hitmonlee's foot hit the ground, causing a small dent in the ground.

    "Hm...use Rolling Kick!" Chuck yelled.

"But Umbre's so far out of its range..." Sam whispered. Hitmonlee's leg sprung out at Umbre during the roll, but not in the way Sam expected. The leg flew out...like a spring. Sam got his first real look at Hitmonlee's legs now. It was similar in shape to a spring. This was how it got its range out of his attacks. Umbre was hit once more, knocking it backwards.

"Ha! You're done! You can't keep out of my range!" Chuck yelled.

"Maybe...but maybe your range doesn't matter...and it doesn't...not if you can't move! Go, use Psychic!" Sam yelled.

"But how does it know that?!" Chuck yelled.

"Heh...you're gonna lose. You don't need to go that!" Sam yelled. Umbre's blue aura deepened in color as Hitmonlee was covered in the same color. Before it knew it, it was levitating in the air.

"Hm...go! Double Kick!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonlee tried its best to throw its feet, but they couldn't move.

"You may be strong, but this is formed out of Umbre's willpower...not something you can take! Use Quick Attack and Iron Tail together to slash it!" Sam yelled. Umbre's tail started to glow, then it appeared to teleport from where it was to the other side. Hitmonlee's eyes closed in pain, but it couldn't do anything.

    "Dang it!" Chuck yelled.

"Hm..." Sam hummed. Suddenly, Hitmonlee fell. Sam hadn't expected Umbre to hold even that long. He was proud of her.

"Hm...GO! Jump Kick!" Chuck yelled. Hitmonlee struggled to its feet, then jumped out with its foot out. This was Jump Kick. Much less dangerous than Hi Jump Kick, but still dangerous in Umbre's current state. Umbre was injured, it couldn't dodge this one. She flew into a rock at high speed, injuring it even more.

"No...this isn't going well. Hm..." Sam said, flashing back to when Umbre first evolved. Suddenly, something that happened almost immediatly after it. The training with James...

"Umbre! Remember that training we did with James and Glaceon?" Sam yelled. Umbre stood up, and slightly nodded.

"Time to try it out! Use Shadow Ball as big as you can!" Sam yelled. Umbre focused the darkness within it for a second, then created a large ball of shadow.

"Now! Iron Tail!" Sam yelled. Umbre spun around and fired the ball with the attack. It flew at top speed dead at Hitmonlee, who was unable to move thanks to the Jump Kick's impact.

The attack blasted it back into the rock in the corner, where it was immediatly finished off.

    "We...did it!" Sam yelled.

"Yes. Hitmonlee is unable to battle, Sam wins!" the ref yelled. Sam smiled. That was three...just one more field to go.

"Grr! I do not accept this! DIE!" Chuck yelled. He jumped across the podium onto the rock in front of him, then onto another, then dead at Sam. Sam simply smiled.

"Didn't you learn from our battle? Psychic!" Sam yelled. Umbre glowed blue, then caught Chuck by his foot and lowered him to the ground.

"Now, leave me alone so I can go back to my room..." Sam said. It was getting late. Walking slowly into the pokecenter, he dropped off his pokemon, then took the elevator up into his room, where he instantly just fell on the bed, sleeping.

@Sasuneuchiha - Well done for reaching the final stages of the preliminary rounds, only one more field until the final stages!

Congratulations Onix grew to Level 15 and can now learn Rage, but already knows 8 moves. Should a move be forgotten? (reply in OOC)
Congratulations Pidgeotto (Pidg) grew to Level 27 and learned Featherdance
Congratulations Umbreon (Umbre) grew to Level 33

"THE DRAW FOR THE FINAL STAGE OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUND WILLBEGIN IN ONE MINUTE!"

The announcement over the PA system boomed through the building and caused Maple to jump a little.

"I guess that means you have to go?" came a voice from the screen in front of her.

"Yes sorry I have to run Matthew! Keep doing a good job on the ranch!" replied Maple.

"Goodbye professor." said Matthew before the screen went blank.

Maple charged over to the gallery overlooking the main hall and arrived just in time.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN PLEASE DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE BIG SCREEN! THE DRAW FOR THE FINAL STAGE OF THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS WILL NOW SHOW! FIRST SHOWING IS THE DRAW FOR THE ICE FIELD!"

Maple scanned the screen and quickly picked out the match of interest:

Sam (Pallet Town) vs Graham (Pewter City)

"AND NOW THE DRAW FOR THE WATER FIELD"

Maple could again quickly pick out her match of interest. It was much easier at this stage than it had been at the beginning of the tournament, as the number of competitors had dropped significantly.

Paul (Cerulean City) vs Warren (Pallet Town)

"AND NOW THE DRAW FOR THE GRASS FIELD"

Maple didn't even have to search this time, the match she was looking for was on top of the list!

Sean (Cinabaar Island) vs Tracy (Fuschia City)

    "AND FINALLY THE ROCK FIELD!"

Maple wasn't looking for any match in particular, but scanned the list anyway. She noticed a match which interested her:

Diane (Pallet Town) vs Pat (Saffron City)

So... Diane won the battle between Oak's kids. It didn't make a difference to Maple, all she cared about was the fact that Oak was down to three trainers... the same amount as Maple had left herself.

This was the last part of the preliminary rounds, meaning the last stage with a certain type to it. Then, things would be much tighter in the league.
Sean walked onto the grassy stage that appeared as if he was in the countryside at first, only there was an audience at the side. Basiclly more like a zoo than a countryside with all the noise going on. Then, Sean looked at the girl infront of him who looked just about the same age as him, with black hair and a blue outfit. Kind of like himself.
"Hey... you look like me a little." Tracy was the first to notice, but Sean also looked down to notice the clothes he were wearing looked similar to hers.
"Oh, so we do. Anyway, you ready to battle me?" Sean wanted to get straight to the point of battling rather than killing valuable time.
"Of course. I mean, that's what we're here for. Just a caution that I didn't get here easily." she sounded like she meant business.
"Neither did I. Let's do this." Sean was ready and began to choose what Pokemon to use. The audience were cheering as they were expecting a good battle. Tracy was also thinking of the Pokemon that she could use, then she got the great idea.
"Do your best, Oddish!" she tossed the PokeBall to the ground, opening up and then sending out Oddish. This Pokemon was unusual looking, there were a few big leaves on a small, blue body with eyes and a mouth and two feet. As a Grass-type, Sean knew what to use.
"Golbat!" like Tracy, Sean sent out his Pokemon to the stage. Golbat looked fierce to Oddish, as its sharp purple wings and even sharper white fangs made it feel scared. Although, Tracy was anything but.
There were so many moves to use on each Pokemon, but so little time so they had to choose carefully. Since Golbat was a Poison and a Flying-type, Grass-type moves by Oddish would do quarter the damage which was a huge setback for her, so instead, she chose a simple attack.
"Let's start. Oddish, use Cut!" this attack was a Normal-type attack so there would be no type disadvantages here. Plus, it was indeed quite a tough attack. It was a tougher Normal-type attack than the comman ones such as Tackle and Scratch. Oddish ran off its two really tiny feet to quickly approach Golbat, and then took one really high leap to slash one of its quite big leaves on its body. Golbat did have trouble flying for a moment as the leaf was pretty sharp, but there was nothing that Golbat hadn't ever faced.
"Let's see what you can do." Tracy was interested to see what Sean could come up with to fight back. There was one move that Golbat had that Sean loved to use on other Pokemon, but hated when used against him.
"Oh, no problem. Golbat, use Confuse Ray!" this was an excellent move to being with as it would cause confusion. And, as per confusion comes the chance that the attack could miss and could even cause recoil. Golbat began to send out some kind of purple beam that travelled very quickly through the air, and reaching Oddish who was one second joyful, and the next, dancing around like it was out of its mind. Golbat stopped with the confuse ray and the move had done its job. Oddish was confused.
"And that's not even half of what Golbat can do." Sean let Tracy know how Golbat can battle really well depending on what moves it can use. Tracy took the warning and moved on by using one of Oddish's moves.
"Eh, I can handle that. Come on Oddish, use Stun Spore!" Tracy certainly did have spirit. Stun Spore was a move that wasn't very accurate but when it would hit, it would paralyze. Paralysis was probably one of the only things worse than confusion as it meant it would significantly lower speed, aswell as the chance that the victim would not be able to attack. Oddish stumbled a little bit, before sending out a golden powder across the air - not in the direction of Golbat. Instead, the powder went flurrying off into the atmosphere, killing some of the beautiful plants on the stage. Tracy was still confident.
"Meh." she didn't care that much as she knew what to do next. However, it was Sean's turn and he had an even better idea.
"That's the thing with confusion. Anyways, Golbat, use Bite!" this attack was a very strong one. Oddish would be scared if it was in a sane condition but it was not, so instead it just sat on the floor acting rather strange. Just then, Golbat began to flap its wings and head over to Oddish, to then quickly reach it and take one munch with all four of its sharp teeth. The attack was quite strong for several reasons. One that Oddish was not expecting it and that Golbat's teeth were made for this attack. Tracy was going to attack again, hoping that confusion wouldn't stop it this time.
"This may sound a little stupid but... Oddish, use Absorb!" this was really rather useless as it would do quarter damage. Sean couldn't understand why.
"You do know that Golbat is really strong to Grass-typed attacks don't you?" Sean wanted to know why she was going to use a waste of an attack. It was too late for her to say anything as Oddish had planted roots, which had then sucked very little health out of Golbat, healing itself up by a tiny amount of health. The attack overall was not good at all, Sean didn't really get her. He shrugged and used Golbat's next attack, and its strongest, too.
"Thanks for that. Golbat, use Wing Attack!" this time, Sean was taking real advantage of Golbat being a Flying-type. Not only was Wing Attack Golbat's strongest attack but it would do double damage since Oddish was weak to Flying-type attacks. Straight away, Golbat flapped its wings to fly off quickly, and then it slashed both wings to Oddish's small body that was on the ground. The attack was very strong and Oddish made a really loud noise.
"Odd!!" that was the noise made out of shock from the pain of Wing Attack. Already, about half of Oddish's health was taken out and Tracy had to think, fast.
"Damn. None of my other opponents have been as tough as this." she needed something to use, something that would work very well. Alas, there was not much she could do except try again.
"Argh, come on Oddish. Try and use Cut!" this as the second time the attack was used, and the fact that Oddish was still confused was a real letdown as the attack still had a chance of missing. Oddish danced around for a few moments, then tried to seek out where Golbat was. It walked on over real slowly, and then before Oddish took a jump, Golbat easily had the time to avoid. So, Oddish took one high jump and then fell back to the ground on its small face. Now, Tracy saw this as ludacris.
"What the hell." she couldn't say much to describe what was going on. As for Sean, things kept getting better. He had an idea to make things even worse for her.
"Let's see if you can handle this. Use Torment!" this move would prevent Oddish from using the same move twice in a row, meaning that on her next turn she would not be able to use Cut - really annoying in this situation. Golbat opened and closed its mouth and made some kind of moise that sounded like a cricket. It looked as if Golbat was talking, chatting, which Oddish could understand. This made Oddish stressed and aggrovated, making it unable to use the same move twice.
"Uh... what was that?" Tracy didn't understand what Torment was. Sean explained.
"Torment stops your Pokemon from using the same move twice in a row. Meaning, you can't use Cut now. Looks like you're gunna have to think real hard on what to do next, Trace." the deeper Sean explained the more annoyed she got. She needed a few moments to think about what to use next but it then came to her.
"Never mind. Let's use Stun Spore!" despite Cut missing due to confusion, she was more confident that last time. Then, she noticed that Oddish had now looked normal. This means that Sean could now be in trouble since Oddish was capable of doing what it does best. Oddish sent out some golden powder that scattered across the air, reaching Golbat who was flying in the air for a second and then crashing to the ground slowly. The move was successful and Golbat was paralyzed. Now Sean could be in danger if things went in the wrong direction, though he was still in the lead by miles.
"Ouch..." Sean took a few moments to think of what attack to use before it was too late, he wanted to go easy on Wing Attack a little.
"But you need to do better than that. Golbat, use Bite!" this attack was still a very strong one and the last time Golbat used Bite the damage was quite strong, this time he could get lucky and finish Oddish off. Golbat tried to flap its wings as fast as it could, although the paralysis was chronic so its back hurt a little when trying to fly. Luckily, Golbat did reach Oddish then take one big bite on Oddish's really small and sensetive body. Oddish squeaked in pain and there was a visible red toothmark that felt painful when touched, and even more painful; when pressed.
"Wow, you must be good. Not even a Gym Leader has been as strong as you are." that was a real good compliment coming from Tracy.
"Really?" Sean was proud to hear himself being so good.
"Yeah. Although you should know, I've beaten all the Gym Leaders so nothing I can't handle. Oddish, use Acid!" this attack was not a smart choice. Sean couldn't understand why she was using these moves. It was too late to cancel it now, as Oddish had spat out a purple ball of goo that left off drops of poison as it quickly reached Golbat, splashing the poisonous acid everywhere. The attack didn't hurt one bit to Golbat, so altogether an unsuccessful waste of an attack.
"That wasn't such a good idea you know." Sean wanted to let Tracy know what she had done was a mistake, but she didn't see that.
"Why? You'd do that if you were in the same situation." her confidence got the better of her and she didn't know what she was doing right now.
"Because I'm about to finish off your Oddish! Golbat, use Wing Attack once more!" this was just the first part of the battle, so she would have other chances to get him back. As for now, Golbat flapped its wings trying to forget about the paralysis that was waring off quickly, and then when Golbat was close enough, Golbat slashed both wings on Oddish's delicate body and leaves, while also hitting the toothmark that was too painful to handle. Oddish fell backwards and fainted, meaning that Sean had won the first part of the battle. The audience had cheered at Sean's first victory, and Tracy was already overwhelmed.
"Wow, you put up quite a fight. Can't wait to see what you've got next." she did compliment him rather than stress out and run out of ideas. Sean smiled at her and congratulated Golbat.
"Thanks. But really I owe that to Golbat. You deserve a rest for now." he returned Golbat inside its PokeBall, as did Tracy with her Oddish.
Now that Tracy was one Pokemon down, she had to think fast to keep her place in the league.
