We all, or at least most of us, had that one thing we always wanted to do when we were a child. Sometimes they might be a bit out of reach (pro athlete, president), but sometimes things work out and that's what we end up pursuing.

So what was your childhood dream job?

I remember that I wanted to be an astronaut. Being in space always seemed like a cool thing to do. I didn't stop liking space, but my career took a completely different path, so I didn't end up being an astronaut.

  • Well, since I am still going through my childhood and am currently at school, I would say that I want to do something with Astronomy; I study Physics and it is my strongest of the sciences plus I really enjoy it, especially the space part of it. I hope to end up doing this sort of thing, and it isn't anything too ambitious, but Astronomers get paid very highly so I would never think of it as an easy job.

Another thing I would consider is something to do with gaming; producing or developing. I have always been in to gaming, and play games regularly and love them to bits. So ending up having this sort of job would make me very happy unless it is very poorly paid.

Things I wanted to be as a child included:
Veterinarian: I love animals and always wanted to be a vet. I abandoned this goal when I found out I'd need close to 10 years of college and that not everything about the job was great( such as having to put animals down) and that killed my desire to pursue it.

Jockey: I used to be faily obsessed with horses and was facinated by horse racing. I now kind of hate the concept of it and it was an un realistic goal anyway, plus I stopped riding.

Game Developer/Game design: Since I liked video games, I went through a phase where I wanted to have a career making them and possibly work for Game Freak( long shot I know)Needless to say nothing came out of that either and I soon lost enthusiasm to try and reach it.

  • Ever since I was small, I have always wanted to preach & teach.
Speak to others as equals, yet teach them & myself at the same time.

I'm 17 right now, & working towards this goal.
A PhD in Theology & attendance at a Seminary to enter the priesthood.

Note: I realize it sounds hilariously bland, haha.

B-b-b-but I'm keeping that on the b-back burner f-f-for now.

I wanted to be a scientist too and I almost did go down that route but my Astrophysics Masters did not work out for me.

Just, you know, the normal things every kid wants to be at some point. T:
I'm still in school and I haven't gotten around to figuring out my career.

  • I had a ton of career choices when I was a child. First, I wanted to be a teacher because I got really good grades and excelled back when I was in elementary school. Then, I got over that and got into shooter games when I was like...9 or 10? When I played my first shooter game on PS1, which was Syphon Filter, I then decided that I wanted to be an agent. I remember carrying around my plastic water gun around my waist and wearing awesome pants. xD That didn't last long though, so I ended up liking science more and my interest in the weather increased drastically, making me want to go into Meteorology and study the weather. But unfortunately, that career goal seemed impossible because I literally SUCK at math. And you need lots of math to be a meteorologist.

So, I was very indecisive back then. heh.

  • I would say that back when I was in elementary, my two main career choices I wanted to have was a teacher, or... a professional golfer.

For the first one, I absolutely loved school up until about 7th grade, which is why I thought it would be cool to be a teacher (while I guess it would still be an okay choice for me now, teachers don't get paid nearly enough for all the work they do).

As for being a pro golfer, I started playing when I was 3, and got really good at it early on (by the time I was 7, I was playing on level with some 12-13 year olds). Unfortunately, a number of things came up that prevented me from playing as I got older, so it wasn't a very realistic career for me anymore.

  • All throughout my childhood I juggled the career path I wanted to follow. I remember wanting to be a Psychologist, then a Lawyer, then a Dentist, then a Scientist, then a Teacher and then a Professor. It's only been during the last couple of years I've really developed the passion to work in the field of Health Science. My prime goal would be either to become a Doctor (Specialising in Cardiology), or a Medicinal Researcher. It's going to be a tough road for me in the next two to three years, but I know I'll be able to accomplish what I've dreamed for, if I put in the work, dedication and effort.

  • I was really indecisive as well. First I wanted to be a vet, then a teacher, then I wanted to go into nuclear medicine, after I left high school I decided I wanted to be zookeeper, saw a course for Policing and tried that out (wasn't for me), thought it would be cool to open a game store, and more I'm planning on doing an Astronomy degree. I'm definitely going to go through with that.

  • I always wanted to become a Veterinarian. Once I graduated from high school I was so hyped up about going to College and helping those animal. But I later found out they didn't had a College where they offered that program. The closest college I could find was far in a different region of Quebec. Althought they DO offer it in University here in Montreal tho...

I wanted to be the president of Canada, then I realized that they didn't even have presidents. Now that my head is on straight, I want to be an author -- which has now been proven to be possible.

Am I the only one that hasn't got dreams of working as something yet? I think I am that not-so ambitious person that's happy to work as anything.

But that said, I think I am too young to say this, something might make me dream of being something.

  • Evil ruler of the galaxy, motel owner, car dealer/repair shop owner, scientist, teacher, IRS tax auditor, FBI special agent, CEO... my dreams of being a member of the Pretty Cure magical girl team were dashed pretty quickly, though...

I was constantly changing what I wanted to be as an adult, lol

  • Being an astronomer was my childhood goal. But it turned out to only a hobby, as an amateur. I'm into Wildlife research instead.

  • I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid because I wanted to see what space was like, but I'm not really sure anymore.
