I am not at all competitive and I have always hated competition. I feel very self conscious. I take competitive defeat very poorly. If I don't win I feel like I have disappointed people and am useless. I feel humiliated.
I generally don't like people having expectations of me in case I can't meet them.
Let me see... yes. So much yes. I'm terribly competitive.
I cannot stand losing, I love to win and it infuriates me when people are just better than me - especially when I just can't get one up on them. I even feel the need to be funnier than normal after watching comedians. I'm a sad human being really.
When it comes to some things I'm more competitive than others. In video games I'm not competitive at all until you make it a competition. Then when I'm getting thrashed it drives me mad and makes me desperate to get even one win. Libra my eternal rival I'm looking at you.
Board games, extremely competitive. I think it's the face to face aspect that makes me more competitive here than with video games. I will not stand for losing.
The area I'm most competitive though, definitely dance competitions. I'm determined to reach the top and I will work as hard as I have to in order to get there. I will happily practice for hours upon hours and go in every day the studio is open. I watch videos from competitions and analyse what went wrong, what went right and why people are able to beat us. I read into technique books for ages (which I have to do for my coaching study anyway I guess) and probe my coaches with questions. Anything to get to first. Ironically my partner has a seriously different view and is more about just having fun.
if it something like getting something first then I am not competitive but if it an game against someone then I am playing to win unless it is against an child.
Um, I've had stats drop without feeling my special attack go up, so I guess not.
I play for the fun of challenge, and aim to win. If anything gets in the way of enjoying myself, be it winning or losing - I adjust my actions accordingly.
I ran in a sponsored team in MLG and ALG Gears of War 3 / Judgement for about a year not too long ago, now; hah- THOSE people, do not play for fun. I couldn't take that for more than six months.
However, I usually put effort while casually competing. For instance, I get very competitive while playing smash bros and mario kart...but I won't practice playing these games for hours daily to prepare for competition.
