  • Well I revamped my Dark monoteam and it's been doing reasonably on PO. I know it can be improved though, hence this topic.

DRAKOW (Hydreigon) (M) @ Choice Specs
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
    Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
    - Draco Meteor
    - Fire Blast
    - Focus Blast
    - U-turn

What pure Dark team is complete without the most evil Pokemon out there?

    YOSHIKO (Tyranitar) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sand Stream
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
    Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
    - Crunch
    - Stone Edge
    - Superpower
    - Stealth Rock

Tyranitar is another of my favourites which is why it's here.

TROLL (Sableye) (M) @ Iron Ball / Leftovers
    Trait: Prankster
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
    Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
    - Taunt
    - Recover
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Trick / Night Shade / Foul Play / Some other move

This dude is pretty mandatory. So is Spiritomb. The two Fighting immunities are immensely appreciated. I am going with the Trick set for now and it has been good at times but other instances I might have preferred another move over Trick. So yeah, I'm currently undecided on the 4th move slot.

    OVERSOUL (Spiritomb) (F) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Pressure
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
    Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
    - Dark Pulse
    - Calm Mind
    - Sleep Talk
    - Rest

I have had mixed results with this one. Sometimes it works out really well but he just cannot handle powerful physical attacks so even if it does set up a few CM boosts, it can be overcome quite easily by most physical sweepers.

    CACTUAR (Cacturne) (M) @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sand Veil
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
    - Sucker Punch
    - Focus Punch
    - Spikes
    - Substitute

He's good for laying down spikes and with a bit of luck from Sand Veil, getting a 2-3 layers is certainly achievable. Encore has proven to be disappointing in practice for me. I've never really got it off to be honest. Added substitute over it which has been doing well Seed Bomb hasn't seen much use either so am testing Focus Punch over it, since it works well with Sub..

DINGODILE (Krookodile) (M) @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Intimidate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    - Earthquake
    - Pursuit
    - Stone Edge
    - Fire Fang

Fire Fang is there for Scizor. Went with intimidate for more defensive play but I might change up to moxie.

  • Hm, well, first, this team is not bad at all.. But I guess I can leave you suggestions to think about.

You can try out Hidden Power Fighting, or Psychic over Sleep talk on your Spiritomb, since this way, it'll have a better chance against pokemon like opposing Tyranitar, Cobalion, or maybe a Conckledurr if it's against one.

Hm, how about also trying a Krookodile? See, Krookodile and your Hydregion, can make a duo revenge killing core, having really good coverage.

You can try the choice scarf set:

    Krookodile @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Moxie / Intimidate
    EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Nature: Adamant
    - Pursuit
    - Earthquake
    - Crunch
    - Stone Edge

You can have Moxie for clean up, or Intimidate to weaken an Outrage or bullet punch or something. Its beaten by Virizion, but, your Sableye could take care of it anyway with Will-o-wisp and Trick. Another suggestion I have is having substitute over Encore on Cacturne, or, you can try Hidden Power Fire as a surprise to Scizor or Skarmory that like to come in it. (you might have to run a naive, rash, lonely, or hasty nature though).

Well, those are my suggestions in mind anyway; good luck with this team!

  • I appreciate the advice man. Krookodile has been pretty good in testing and Cacturne is doing better with Sub too. I'm still playing around with tomb though.
