Oh, like turn an image from your computer into an image in your post? There's a few ways to go about that, actually. Hopefully I understand your question well enough to answer it adequately!
So, you have a banner that you want to use to showcase your media, now what? Well first, does your image have an extractable URL? Meaning a web page associated with your image? If not, you've got to upload your image using any one of various image hosting sites. For simple, uncomplicated uploading, I recommend Imgur, Tinypic, or Photobucket. Any of those allow you to pick up an image from your computer and drop it into a designated area with a URL you'll be able to retrieve later on.

So you've got your image loaded, right? Awesome. Now, you want to get it into your posts, which is easy enough indeed! In the text box where you type, you'll see a series of icons. Next to your linking option is a little icon that looks like this:

Click on it. On your screen, a little message box will appear stating, "Please enter the URL of your image", thus allowing you to paste that URL we talked about earlier into it (the original URL of your image). Click okay and your picture will be posted into your text box along with your post! :)

To further link this image, you're going to want to select it. Similar to what you did with the URL of your image, you're going to want to repeat this process with the link to your desired thread you want the image to travel to. So click on this image in your text box:

This image will, again, bring up a message box stating "Please enter the URL of your link". This means, if you want to link to your ROM hack thread, you need to insert the link to that thread into this small box. Click okay. From there, should you have selected your original image (or used the appropriate tags) your image should be linked to the desired thread/website. However, the image will not appear as a link in your text box. You need to either post or preview the content before you'll see a "click-able" link.
Hopefully that covers any and all problems you have with getting a custom banner into a post. I know it's a little long winded, but it's a little hard for me to pin point exactly which part in this process you're having problems with. I'm going to close this thread, but if you have any questions, problems, or concerns please PM me and I'll be happy to help however I can. :) Best of luck!
