Um, NiteHawk, I think that post was directed to this one:

It does work, I tried it on Pearl. Like the poster of the code said, you might see Pokemon native to that area sometimes. Just keep running in the grass and you will eventually encounter the Pokemon you put in the code for. (And if it still doesn't work, then make sure you inputted the code correctly).

Yes it is. The code is even posted here. As for a shiny Cyndaquil, use the Wild Shiny Encounter code posted earlier with the Wild Pokemon Modifier.

You only have to press it once anytime BEFORE you battle. You don't need to do it again after. Like SKYNET previously said:

RUN THROUGH THE GRASS, SOMETIMES THE POKEMON OF THAT SPOT POP UP BUT JUST KEEP RUNNING THROUGH THE GRASS AND THE POKEMON YOU WANT WILL COME OUT.

So you may not always see the Pokemon you inputted the code for, but most of the time, you will.

the fast hatch code should work for eggs as well. the code makes one step = 250 steps. the time it takes for an egg to be concieved is also based on steps, so having that code activated should do the trick.
