  • That is, do you always watch TV and movies, listen to music, read books, etc. by yourself or do you do them with other people?

I do a mix. I have some shows that I like to watch with people. It makes me look forward to them more than others because we can talk about it. And I've done some book clubs so that I could talk about what I'm reading with people who were just as familiar with it as I was, and I sometimes do reading parties which is just me and one or two other people just hanging out and reading books.

  • Mostly I do stuff (that includes interacting with media) alone when I'm not busy. There aren't many times where I can get my free time with my friends as they're busy as well.

  • I do consume most of my media alone, or sometimes with one other person -- I have one RP partner who hosts movies over Skype, so our characters can have movie nights. The exception is when I'm watching a notoriously bad movie, such as Sharknado. I love getting on livestreams and joining the mockery. Bad movies are meant to be watched with friends.

Mostly alone - the rest of my family has very few overlapping interests with me. Although they all like Top Gear, and generally don't complain about some of the sitcoms I watch. Music, movies, gaming etc. is mostly alone. I never go to the cinema.

There are some shows that I watch with my husband because we both like them, but most of the time I watch/listen/read my media alone. :B

I usually watch TV and movies with other people, unless nobody is around to watch it with me.
I tend to listen to music alone, but I love sharing things I've listened to with other people and listening to it with them.
I almost always read books alone, unless its a case of reading a series that I follow religiously and I have friends who do the same and a new book comes. Then I'll read it with them, but I'll read it silently to myself. In the case of books, I tend to read them and recommend them or read books that are recommended to me after a friend reads it. I don't think I've ever read a book with someone else like you would in a classroom.

I enjoy talking about media with other people, but I think I'd rather experience them by myself in most cases.

  • I very much prefer to do everything alone, though watching movies and TV shows is an exception. I like that when I watch them with someone else, I have someone to talk to about it all afterwards. Some people's opinions and predictions, if applicable, are different after every good show or movie and it's nice to be able to converse about them and compare scenarios, etc. Music/reading/games and whatnot, though, are a totally different story and I become borderline annoyed when other people are around when I'm busy with such.

  • My concept of "together" covers somebody experiencing something at the same time as me without necessarily being right next to me (like watching a tv show at our own paces), and to be honest I really like experiencing things together like that. I enjoy reading stuff as my friends are reading it or watching shows as they're watching them so that we can talk about them. If the material is completed as opposed to currently airing/being released then I much prefer to do it alone, though. If it's already fully released then there's a chance that talking to somebody about it would result in spoilers and I'm not into that whole deal.

I try to push shows and books onto people so I have someone else to fangirl with. I made my mom watch Game of Thrones, and now she'd addicted and reading the books as well.

  • I LOVE to watch movies and TV with friends; I just don't always have the opportunity to, so I end up doing it mostly alone. Video games I very much do alone, unless obvious (Brawl, Mario Party, etc.) Sometimes I appreciate a watcher/watching, especially if it's retro for some reason.

  • I watch all my media alone since no one in my family likes what I like, everyone in my family has their own taste in music and movies. What my family watches I find it boring.

Music - I play it loud when I'm home alone, or mostly alone. I don't care what my family thinks of it, its Metal it has to be loud.

The only only exception is when my uncle and I watch football games on TV, especially when its an important tournament like CONCACAF Gold Cup or the World Cup.

I also have this problem! Nobody I know tends to share the prime of my musical tastes with me and it's very disappointing. Sometimes I like to indulge a bit with others... :(

  • I definitely watch movies and stuff with my friends, 'cause I don't really watch movies outside of cinemas unless it's a really good movie. Erm games-wise I sometimes play with my friends though recently I've been playing more and more single-player rather than multiplayer on ma PS3.

I talk about the music I listen to, so I think that counts?
EDIT: Ooooh, I think I understand the question a bit better now, err yeah I do play my music out loud at times though my family doesn't really have the same taste in music as me but some of my friends do so that's cool eh

I read books alone because well... reading with others is a bit weird imo lol.

  • I tend to watch TV and movies with other people, but reading or listening to music is, for me at least, something that is usually done alone. Unless having the internet around doesn't count as being 'alone'. Creepy.

  • It depends, really. Music, I really like listening to by myself, or blasting in my friend's car, singing and laughing with friends. Movies and TV, I'll watch by myself, unless I'm in the theatre.

YouTube videos, though, I love watching with friends over Skype, sharing reactions, etc.

I prefer people aren't around when I eat my DVDs

Music, books and games tend to be for me, DVDs are normally shared with my bf though - watching a movie alone, with my full focus, is near impossible.
